Run BTS: 047 | Protect the BTS Village part 1
Original Air Date: 03 APR 2018 Episode Length: 29:49 Total Parts: 2 YouTube English Subtitles: No Title Song: Blood Sweat & Tears
Tumblr media
Synopsis: The iconic debute of the Blue Village saga. Think scavenger hunt meets a social deduction game (think werewolf/mafia for some, Among Us for others). I am completely biased by this concept. The best birthday party ever has was when my mom set up a scavenger hunt. When escape rooms became popular, i was so excited. so it's impossible for me to be objective with this episode. When I started watching Run BTS for the first time, i honestly didn't think there would be an episode that topped these.
Production: They do a great job with the location and getting coverage. the map graphic is a great piece of storytelling as well, it's a shame that it comes out a little stagnant with how little movement it's actually conveying so a more dynamic version would have helped with the pacing. The explanation screens are pretty excessive. i get that this concept is a little more complex and they are trying to avoid staff just rambling the setup, but this is definitely a crutch in these kind of eps. The art dep does a good job with what they need to do, but overall I'm not a fan. The one before the meeting is even more superfluous. I think we'd all rather have had more footage in the time consumed by that 'summary'. We just watched the scenes that it summarizes and we're about to listen to the members share it all with each other. The one after the meeting is quotes of what we just heard the members say...
Endearment: Call me crazy but I think these episodes have some of the best glimpses into authentic personality traits for the guys. They're honestly so bad at these types of elaborate setups that they have to spend the whole time focusing on that and less on being entertaining. so it feels a little more genuine.
Winner/Loser: see final part
Best Cheater: Jin, for that fake hint
Member Moments:
RM: Mechanic RM, doing such a good job trying to unravel the hints and figure out a meta of who is on his team.
JN: Bank President Jin, first instinct: make up a clue to point to Yoongi.
YG: Flower Shop Owner.... wait you can hear the intro to give it to me during his introduction?? i never noticed that before. Yoongi is so great in these kind of episodes, i don't know how to describe it, he's just the most chill version of dedication to the role playing and strategy
JH: Supermarket owner! I'm loving the irony of his description, "a social person with all the villager's info'... uh, with happens later with Jimin, Hobi clearly did not keep up with that trait! lol Hobi actually is pretty good at the searching aspect of these games, but you can tell he thrives in a team mentality. he knows how to point out what may be important and then brings it to someone else to get it to the finish line.
JM: Delivery man... i adore Jimin but you can tell that he struggled with the act. they clearly cut away from him every time something points to him being guilty. y'all i wasn't expecting to have any feels during this episode. the Jm/jk salute in the police station... i just wanted to watch a silly run ep, not be reminded of the ms.
V: Patisserie V! We didn't get much V coverage this episode, but we find out more about what he was up to in the next one.
JK: The least observant Police Officer in history. He literally picks up the hint and doesn't see it. Now it's obvious the guys were not given any direction regarding what they should be looking for, but the edit kindly points it out to the audience. bless poor JK's heart
Bonus Content: Much shorter than expected for this episode, and it's mostly the same scenes we had. does anyone know when the bonus content was released? it makes sense if it was before the final part, and they were trying to keep the reveal secret.
CQ Rank: 5

Okay, so, here's what I've been stressing out about. A while ago I listened to this podcast called Sold a Story (link here) about a method of teaching children to read that absolutely does not sound like it should be real because it does not make sense. Every time the podcast host describes it, I feel as if there is a massive gap and there is some key piece of information I'm missing because I cannot see how someone could see one of these fragments of a lesson or hear a description--even a more favorable version of a description--and think it makes sense as a way to teach children how to read.
Now, here's a caveat: I haven't done any further reading on this topic yet. My last search was to see if I could find any lesson plans online real fast and I could not. Real fast, you see. I have more reading to do! I need to just look at bibliographies and then the bibliographies of the items in those bibliographies and just torture some local librarians, probably. Or, I don't know, maybe JSTOR will help me.
Just for your reference, I'm going to dive into the transcripts of a couple of episodes and copy the description of this idea about teaching reading here. This is a list of "strategies" used to figure out what a new word is, from the second episode of the podcast: "Look at the first letter. Look at the picture. Think of a word that makes sense."
Now, from the first episode, here is a part where a lesson is described, and because this is a long quote I'm going to put a read more here:
Teacher: I’m gonna read a little bit of this story to you. And if I get stuck on a word, I want you to try to help me figure out what that word could be. The teacher reads the story. The kids can see the words on the screen, they’re following along as she reads. And then the teacher comes to a word that she’s covered up with a little yellow sticky note. Teacher: OK, so we’re gonna stop right here on this covered word. Adams: And the teacher says, “What could this word be? Let’s look at the picture.” Teacher: We’re gonna see if the picture helps us to figure out what that word would be. The kids can’t see the word. It’s covered with the sticky note. So there’s no way they can sound it out. They’re just trying to figure out what the word could be based on what’s going on in the story. Teacher: If we think about what’s happening so far in the story – we know Zelda and Ivy’s dad made cucumber sandwiches for lunch. And Zelda and Ivy didn’t want to eat the sandwiches, so they ran away. And now they think their mom and dad will…? Will…what? Zelda and Ivy ran away and now they think their mom and dad will…scold them? Find them? Teacher: Do you think that covered word could be the word “miss?” Ah. Miss them.  Teacher: Could it be the word “miss”? Because now that they’re gone maybe their parents will miss them? The teacher asks the kids to think about whether “miss” could be the word…using the strategies they’ve been taught. Teacher: Let’s do our triple check and see. Does it make sense? Does it sound right? How about the last part of our triple check? Does it look right? Let’s uncover the word and see if it looks right? The teacher lifts up the sticky note and indeed, the word is “miss.” Teacher: It looks right too. Good job. Very good job. Go ahead and click on the next slide so you can practice this strategy on our next part of our story.
When I first heard this I started losing my mind. If you just teach the kids to read and then show them the word maybe they'll figure it out! Why are you hiding the word from them! It's written down! They don't need to guess! It's written down! They could just read it! You can teach them to read and they can read it! It's there!
Anyway. Moving on. This is not organized. I promised you a rambling post and a rambling post this shall be.
Within the past few days the Sold a Story podcast feed was updated with additional episodes. These are in fact audio documentaries that were produced before Sold a Story was. (Additional episodes are promised, however, it seems.) And I've been listening to these documentaries and getting STRESSED OUT again because, you know, I love getting stressed. I love worrying. You know how it is. So, anyway, in one or two of these, it talks about this idea of reading in order to "comprehend the meaning of the text" (not a direct quote) rather than reading to read individual words.
One example used is a child reading, for example, story about a cowboy, and a sentence along the lines of "The cowboy rides a ____." The suggestion is that if the actual word is "horse," it's fine for a reader to guess that it might be "pony" and move along because the meaning is the same.
Now, if you are a horse girl or if you know a horse girl--I was an aspiring horse girl in my youth and am friends with several horse girls--you will know that "horse" and "pony" do not mean precisely the same thing. This assertion is bonkers. But you do not need to be or know a horse girl or a cowboy or an equestrian to know that this view of reading seems, uh, at odds with writing. With things like the idea that writers choose particular words for a reason. I found myself thinking it's asking children to behave like large language models, despite how much older it is--try to guess what word is most likely to come next; don't read to see what has been written and figure out what the writer has to say. People can't do a close reading if they're just making stuff up. And this got popular? How? I am baffled. I need to know how people were sold this. What comes between saying, "Children must learn to read," and saying, "All right, kids, take a guess at what this word might be"? Is it really just that the people were charismatic and had good vibes? Is there the slightest chance that Sold a Story is secretly evil and mega biased and just incapable of explaining this teaching approach normally? (Here's the thing: I learned to read as a kid and I only ever remember doing ordinary phonics instruction. Now, to be clear, it's really more that I don't remember anything the least little bit like the whole language/three-cuing/whatever approach the podcast describes--it's been a long time since I learned to read. But I remember sounding out words, you know? And here I am. Reading. So that's the extent of what I know so far: my personal experience learning to read and this one podcast.)
You can see why I need to do more reading on the subject (and why I want to see lesson plans. I want to see what happens during week one of a whole language reading curriculum). Now, Sold a Story assures me that a lot of schools are moving away from this and moving back toward phonics instruction, but folks. I am STRESSED. Literacy is SO good and SO important and people are just bungling it? We have free public education and we're not even teaching the children how to read? Listen, I know so many schools are underfunded and bad. I know. But what I did not know was that sometimes people just make up teaching methods that sound absolutely delusional and then still manage to make millions of dollars selling them anyway.
I just can't quite wrap my mind around it. You have to think of a word that makes sense. But these are children. They are absorbing information as quickly as they can but they don't know everything yet. Maybe they don't know about cowboys. What if they just plain don't know the word? Why does it sound like this method is meant to suggest that the written word is some kind of spell for unlocking secret knowledge contained within a person when it is actually just a way of transmitting information, including information a person does not have? My god, you can see a word you don't know, and if you see all the individual letters and spell it, you can look it up in a dictionary! You can learn a new word! Gain new information!
Also, my other question that has never been addressed--actually I have two questions. First: where, in the process of teaching children to read, does teaching children to write come up? And next, the question that has never been addressed but my asking it would be informed by the answer to my previous question: I really rather feel like this method of teaching children to read must make for very bad writers, doesn't it? If they aren't, for one thing, actually reading words, but mainly making their best guesses and scooting by, they are not absorbing the spellings of words. It does help a great deal, when writing, to be able to put a word down on paper. And if you aren't actually absorbing what words different writers select for different purposes, you can't make word choices yourself. You can't pull from the knowledge you have gained from other writers because you didn't read their work at all. You made it up based on, what, conversations you've had? Movies you've watched? But you didn't ever learn how to meaningfully engage with the text set before you.
All right. That's all I have for now. I am stressed. About literacy. I know it may be risky posting something like this--unedited and everything--on the reading comprehension web site, but, you know. I'm living dangerously.

Strategies to Help Pass Classes
I just finished my first semester as a graduate student with all As and these are some of the strategies that have helped me. I was one of those “naturally gifted” kids growing up and started to face burnout come college. I passed with a nice GPA, but there were many things I could have done to improve that I’ve used for this semester I’d like to share what can help people in similar situations.
See a therapist:
Easier said than done, I know, but the help they provide is invaluable. I wasn’t diagnosed with some stuff for a while, and once I was and we worked on ways to deal with it in different areas of life. Since then life became more manageable. DO NOT USE BETTERHELP! For people based in the USA Psychology Today is great, you can slim down the searches to your needs and always look up reviews of the person. Some campuses offer therapy as well; you could always try it out.
Annotating:
I thought I was too good for it in college and I have been uncomfortable with writing in books since I was young, even more so with ones I’m renting. I’ve tried using more sticky notes, underlining text lightly in pencil, and sticky tabs. It’s been such a huge game-changer! Sure you’ll have to remove all of those when it’s time to return the books, but it’s so worth it!
Grammarly or an alternative of your choice:
Yeah, the commercials are annoying, but it does a good job of cleaning up the little mistakes. I make so many spelling mistakes when quickly typing so I always put it through Grammarly. After that, for bigger assignments, I’ll print it out, take out the red pen and give it one more check over. It has saved me on so many projects and papers.
Map out your writing & Restate the question/items in the rubric in the writing:
I first tried this when completing my certification tests and it helped me to always score high on the essay portions. I tried applying it to my grad papers and I’ve experienced the same effect. Mapping out the writing, jotting down quotes/sources you want to use, as well as points you want to make in each paragraph helps to keep you on track. This prevents you from losing points and makes it easier to compare your paper to the rubric.
Write down a your due dates everywhere:
I mix up dates frequently so writing them down in my notes, on sticky notes, in my planner, and on my phone aids me in not thinking on top of my game and then gets jumpscared by a close due date I had forgotten. You can’t forget what’s constantly in front of your face.
Organize your files and save everything your professors give you:
In undergrad I didn’t organize anything, I didn’t receive too many handouts or PowerPoints but I still look back on some of the ones I have to this day to help me. Not to mention college is getting more and more expensive so take everything they give you without remorse. My advisor told me for my program to save everything and that was the plan. I try not to use Google Docs too much, I only use it for smaller drafts and then delete them once they’re transferred and completed. I recommend saving them to a hard drive, and organizing your files by Uni, Semester, then class. It makes me happy knowing I have a myriad of pdfs and links (even very recently written academic articles) that I can use and talk to my colleagues about. Being able to share this with coworkers makes me come across as a stronger and more valuable addition to the team which is a wonderful bonus!
Don’t be afraid to talk to your professors:
The name of the game is networking. You don’t have to be a teacher's pet but show some initiative. Actually read their comments! I know so many people who passed and don’t give a shit what notes the professor leaves. When I noticed a lower grade I talked to my professor about it and found out there was a formatting issue due to the program the uni used, it took a while to figure out but going forward I didn’t lose any more points.  In a different course certain pieces of information the professor gave us on the final project didn’t match so I reached out to ask which was correct as well as some others given it was my first time writing this type of paper. They responded so fast and then sent an email to the rest of my peers addressing the inconsistencies.  That saved me a lot of work and stress!
Rewards and relaxation:
There needs to be a balance between work and relaxation. I would get so worked up and be so hard on myself since this was my first semester and look at all my actions through a microscope to make sure I was doing enough. As I got more accustomed to my schedule I made more time for myself. Do things that make you happy when you can. Now rewards on the other hand acted as motivation. I am unfortunately a procrastinator, especially once I learn how long it takes me to do an assignment. I’m proud of myself for not doing papers last minute like in undergrad and that’s because I would break up certain tasks into days and create small rewards for myself. Example: I have assigned readings I have to do (highlight, annotate, and write a summary of main points and important page numbers in my notebook). Depending on how much reading there is I could either A. Get it all done and reward myself or B. Do about half of it, reward myself, then finish the other half. Rewards to me were like new episodes of a tv show or some time to play a video game. This now makes me feel more comfortable about doing more things when it’s time for summer classes.
Color coding:
To me, this means using a variety of colors when taking my notes.  If I just take them in one color I find I have a harder time focusing when studying as well as recalling the information when I need it.
Don’t worry about writing a paper in order:
I struggle with introductions on papers so instead I get all of my body done so I don’t waste time and then work on the introduction. Even with topic sentences I make a note like [TOPIC SENTENCE] and highlight it so I know to go back to it once I finish the paragraph. Probably weird and niche but still figured I should include it lol

How to Find Office Cleaning Projects in the USA
The demand for office cleaning services in the USA is steadily growing as businesses prioritize cleanliness and hygiene in their workplaces. From small offices to large corporate buildings, companies rely on professional cleaning services to maintain a safe and organized environment.
However, finding consistent office cleaning projects can be challenging, especially with competition from established providers. To stand out and secure contracts, janitorial businesses must leverage multiple strategies, including bidding platforms, networking, cold outreach, online marketing, and referral programs.
In this guide, we’ll explore the most effective ways to find office cleaning projects in the USA, helping you grow your business and maintain a steady stream of clients.
1. Use Online Job & Bidding Platforms
One of the fastest ways to find office cleaning projects in the USA is by using online job marketplaces and bidding platforms. These websites connect businesses with cleaning service providers, allowing you to bid on jobs, get direct leads, and secure long-term contracts.
Top Platforms for Office Cleaning Jobs
✅ Thumbtack – Businesses post cleaning job requests, and you can submit quotes to potential clients. ✅ TaskRabbit – Offers small office cleaning gigs, which can lead to recurring contracts. ✅ Angi (Formerly Angie’s List) – A great platform for listing your cleaning services and getting direct leads. ✅ Bark – Connects service providers with office cleaning clients who are actively looking for quotes. ✅ HomeAdvisor – Specializes in connecting businesses with professional service providers.
Government & Corporate Cleaning Contracts
If you want to secure larger office cleaning contracts, consider government and corporate bidding platforms:
✅ SAM.gov – The official U.S. government website for bidding on federal cleaning contracts. ✅ GovWin – Helps janitorial businesses find government cleaning projects. ✅ Commercial Real Estate Networks – Websites like LoopNet list office buildings, where you can contact property managers about cleaning needs.
How to Get Started on These Platforms
Create a professional profile – Include your business name, experience, services offered, and pricing.
Get reviews & ratings – Ask satisfied clients to leave feedback to boost your credibility.
Set competitive pricing – Research local rates and offer flexible pricing for office cleaning contracts.
Bid strategically – Don’t underprice your services, but be competitive to win bids.
Follow up on leads – Respond quickly to inquiries and maintain communication.
These platforms provide a great starting point, but networking and direct outreach can help you land even bigger office cleaning contracts.
2. Network with Local Businesses & Property Managers
Building strong relationships with local businesses and property managers is one of the most effective ways to find long-term office cleaning contracts. Many office buildings, coworking spaces, and business complexes require regular cleaning but prefer working with trusted local providers instead of searching online.
How to Network for Office Cleaning Projects
✅ Join Local Business Groups & Events
Attend networking events, business expos, and trade shows in your area.
Become a member of your local Chamber of Commerce to meet business owners.
Participate in BNI (Business Network International) or industry-specific networking groups.
✅ Partner with Property Managers & Real Estate Firms
Office buildings and business complexes often have property managers responsible for hiring cleaning services.
Connect with local real estate firms that manage office spaces—new tenants often need cleaning services.
Reach out to commercial landlords who need cleaning services before leasing offices.
✅ Visit Businesses in Person
Walk into office buildings and introduce yourself to the office manager or receptionist.
Leave behind professional business cards, brochures, or flyers outlining your services.
Offer a free or discounted trial cleaning to prove your quality and reliability.
3. Leverage Cold Outreach (Email & Calls)
Cold outreach—whether through email or phone calls—is a direct and cost-effective way to secure office cleaning contracts. By contacting office managers, property managers, and business owners, you can introduce your services and offer a solution to their cleaning needs.
Example Cold Email:
Subject: Keeping [Company Name] Clean & Healthy Hi [First Name], I’m [Your Name] from [Your Cleaning Company]. We specialize in office cleaning for businesses like [Company Name], ensuring a spotless and healthy workspace. Are you currently satisfied with your cleaning service, or would you be open to a better solution? We offer: I’d love to discuss how we can help. Would you be available for a quick call this week? Best, [Your Name] [Your Business Name]
By combining cold emails and phone calls, you increase your chances of securing office cleaning contracts faster.
4. Optimize Your Online Presence for Leads
✅ Google My Business – Create and optimize a profile so businesses can find your cleaning service. ✅ Professional Website – Include service descriptions, client testimonials, and a request-a-quote form. ✅ SEO & Paid Ads – Run Google and Facebook ads targeting local office cleaning clients.
A strong online presence ensures businesses find and trust your services, leading to more inbound office cleaning projects.
5. Offer Referral Discounts & Client Incentives
Word-of-mouth referrals are one of the most powerful ways to get new office cleaning contracts. Happy clients can introduce you to other businesses, helping you grow without heavy marketing costs.
How to Encourage Referrals:
✅ Offer Discounts: “Refer a business and get 10% off your next cleaning.” ✅ Cash Incentives: Provide $50–$100 for each successful referral. ✅ Strategic Partnerships: Work with property managers, real estate agents, and office suppliers to get leads.
A well-structured referral program keeps your office cleaning business growing with consistent new leads and minimal advertising costs.
Conclusion
Finding office cleaning projects in the USA requires a multi-channel approach that includes bidding platforms, networking, cold outreach, online marketing, and referral programs. By using a combination of these strategies, you can attract high-quality office cleaning clients and build long-term contracts.
✅ Online platforms like Thumbtack, Angi, and SAM.gov help you find immediate cleaning job opportunities. ✅ Networking with property managers and local businesses can open doors to steady cleaning contracts. ✅ Cold emailing and calling allow you to directly reach decision-makers in need of cleaning services. ✅ Optimizing your online presence ensures businesses find and trust your services. ✅ Referral programs turn satisfied clients into a source of new business.
If you’re looking for a faster, more efficient way to secure office cleaning contracts, JanitorBPO provides specialized lead generation and outreach services tailored for janitorial businesses. Their team helps cleaning companies connect with potential clients, automate follow-ups, and increase conversions—saving you time while growing your business.
