They had barely stopped touching since the tearful reunion in the jazz cafe Sand's dad played in. Ray had parted from him to walk around to the driver's side but had immediately taken his hand, pressed it onto his thigh like it was for safekeeping.

The last of the alcohol buzzed around in Sand, made him a little fuzzy, brought his pushed-down emotions dangerously near the surface. He'd been drinking to dull them but Ray's voice cracking around his name had dragged them up and suddenly he was engulfed.

Ray had come back to him. His uncanny knack for finding Sand wherever he went had won through and he'd come back. Sand knew that meant something, almost as much as the words he'd said. Nick had pointed it out, once, that Ray turning up in front of him was perhaps a coincidence the first couple of times, but after that it was a conscious decision. Nick had also called Ray a few uncharitable names for not seeing how brilliant Sand was, which Sand had laughed off but been genuinely touched by.

Sand had been subjected to approximately seventeen thousand Meaningful Looks from Nick when he'd gotten home after Ray crashed their camping trip.

That wasn't the point, though. The point was that they were in Ray's car in a strange, reversed echo of a drive they'd taken before. He reached to turn the radio on with the hand not curled into the rough denim of Ray's jeans. The point was that Ray had found him, had reached out and taken hold, and let himself be taken hold of in return.

The car ride was mostly filled with the radio, occasional sniffles and self-conscious little laughs.

They reached Sand's apartment, hands intertwined. Nick was working so Sand let them in and finally it was safe to let go. Ray ducked past him into the main room of the apartment while Sand locked the door and placed his boots beside Ray's.

Sand looked up properly just in time to collide with Ray's back.

He'd forgotten about the wine. Had managed to push it out of his mind that even though he hadn't let himself hope for Ray coming back, he couldn't stand to look at it anymore. There were still boxes of finished product but Nick had let him store them in his room while he got a grip.

"Sand?" It was the first either of them had actually spoken since the cafe.

"It was you or the booze, right?" Sand said with a clarity he didn't realise he felt until that moment. The fuzziness from the alcohol had dissipated, leaving him feeling drained and heavy but hyperaware of Ray before him. "Same choice you're making."

Ray spun in place to stare up at him, eyes glassy with emotion again. He opened and closed his mouth a few times, apparently unable to find the words. "But--"

"There are other jobs," Sand said, still surprised by how fully-formed the thought seemed to be. Didn't say, there's no other Ray.

Ray seemed to hear that anyway, because the kiss he pressed to Sand's mouth was bruising and kind of clumsy, tasted like both of their tears.

I’m really enjoying writing Attention like I’ve never written anything like this before and it’s nice getting out something that’s been formulated in my brain. And when I start writing it kind of takes hold and takes little turns that I never even predicted. Also I promise reader is not being purposefully malicious 😂, she’s just really stuck on the both of them and her attention (see that? 😂) is based on who she’s with at the moment. And Zoro and Law’s perspectives both view her as having something “better” with the other and navigating the fact that. It’s fun and also I like watching men struggle with falling uber hard and not knowing what to do so I like making them suffer LMFAO. But I promise this is a three-way pining situation, everyone is downbad and soft

like most Christian movies risen is cheesy and biblically dubious at times and gets loads of cultural stuff wrong for the sake of being recognizable to a primarily American audience but I'll readily admit the poor roman tribune's absolute bafflement at these religious weirdos who keep talking about love and stuff has me cackling unhingedly

Like, is it sound biblical doctrine and is it historical believable? No? Is it hilarious and do I enjoy seeing this random shmuck lose his mind going through what's essentially a very disturbing psychological thriller from his pov while the disciples are overflowing with joy? You bet??

The guy is dealing with horrifyingly decomposed dead bodies trying to find the right cadaver and previously sane soldiers going crazy and dead men being spotted alive and strange supernatural phenomena and angry gods and unexplained madness and religious fanatism spreading like a contagion, and meanwhile the disciples (and Jesus) are all like HELLO BROTHER WOULD YOU LIKE TO HEAR ABOUT THE BEST NEWS EVER :D :D :D

What do you think was the biggest culture shock when Thoma came to Inazuma?

Honestly, I think the biggest culture shock Thoma had upon coming to Inazuma was, well, the culture. It’s mentioned multiple times in his lore that he came from a very carefree and happy atmosphere, which doesn’t come as much of a surprise to us seeing how Mondstadtans are in general. However, Inazumans are not like that. The majority of them are not outgoing. There’s an increased level of pride and a sense of duty.  While Thoma is generally liked, his lore does state that not everyone is his fan. He was the subject of strange looks and gossip. In his hangout, some people see him as the kind of person that schmoozes his way through life. He’s even seen as a threat to the samurai spirit.  The culture shock for Thoma would be realizing that the way he brought up isn’t necessarily culturally acceptable in every place. His friendliness, though good in Mondstadt, is more of a source of distrust in Inazuma. I have no doubt that probably during his first few years in Inazuma, he had to make the decision whether to stick true to his Mondstadt roots or to change himself to become more like his Inazuman heritage.

So you know how Archons names are from the Ars Goetia, one of the books in The Lesser Key of Solomon. When IK heard OM Beelzebub and Barbatos's name, she became confused because they don't look like her fellow archons "wait I'm pretty sure you don't look like that???"

I wonder how OM Barbatos and Beelzebub react to hearing what their Archon counterpart is like?

Also since Buer (Nahida's Archon name) is part of the Ars Goetia as well which therefore means is one of Solomon pact demons. I just imagine Solomon summoning demon Buer and just say "Buer this is Buer, Buer this is other Buer"

Demon Buer is confused as why the hell did their master call the exchange student Buer, isn't their name IK????

i think their reactions would depend on how ik describes venti and ei, which would respectively be "a nice bard who composes nice poems and drinks too much" and "pretty lady who killed a really big snake and accidentally cut a few islands in half in the process"

i imagine om barbatos is a little peeved by how unrefined his teyvat counterpart is, but he does begrudgingly admit he likes the poems ik passes on to him. meanwhile beel's wondering if he could reasonably fight off a massive serpent too (levi has to actively prevent him from goading henry 1.0 into testing his theory out)

something i think would be fun to do with the fact that archons have demon names... solomon wonders if the similarity could apply to other things, so he's always contriving to get ik to make a 'pact' with him, even though archons can't do that (but now he's too committed to the bit to stop)
