hello c:
Since you’re like, the only switch based account I actively follow, and I lowkey want to get to know the unit better since they’re slowly growing on me thanks to lantern on eng, do you have any switch stories/translations that could help me get to know them better? Unit events, character side stories etc! I hope this isnt too demanding of a request,,, thank you in advance !!
HII its no problem at all!! ideally u'd wanna read all the stories to get the fullest grasp, but ill let u know which ones i find to be most important aswell as some personal favs!
TO GET IT OUT OF THE WAY FIRST, here is a chronological order of all the switch stories along with their wiki link if u wanna read them in order of events! (note that some do not have wiki TL's (primarily some !! stories), and ull have to find them either on twitter or tumblr)
!-era
Element
Easter Night
Haunted Dollhouse
Sunshower Festa
Pleiades Night
Brilliant Star Air Force
Magical Halloween
Blood Banquet
Fortune Banquet
Wonder Game
!!-era (in order of release)
King of Thieves
Next Door
Magic Lantern
SHINSEKAI
Tri-Lights
Cruise
the stories i think are MOST crucial to read are Element, Pleiades Night and Wonder Game, these stories consist of their more critical story beats, BUT! i do HIGHLY recommend reading at least some other stories aswell before reading wonder game, as i feel the story hits harder when you have a clearer grasp on the characters and their relationships. but the choice is yours!
some personal favs are Sunshower Festa and Blood Banquet. theyre fun silly stories that feature the members relationships with the members of 2wink, undead, and shu! sora is also at center of these! i also really enjoy Haunted Dollhouse, which features valkyrie!
for character side stories, here are some that i enjoy!
Everyone Has Their Secrets (Tsumugi Idol Story featuring Kaoru) (THIS ONE IS SO FUNNY PELASE READ IT ITS JUST ONE CHAPTER)

Some Observations About Tegan
I have the classic fandom problem of paying more attention to the boys than the girls. I know. But here's some stuff about a woman. Well, not really, since it's above a dynamic between that woman and a man, but it's not in a romantic sense, so maybe that helps? I don't know.
But I do wanna say some stuff about Tegan.
Looking at both the show and fandom response to the character, I can't help but think that Tegan is one of the most screwed-over companions in the history of Doctor Who. The same could be said to some extent of every Saward Era companion (Adric, Nyssa, Tegan, Turlough, Peri, and Mel), but it's frustrating with Tegan in a way slightly different from the others, especially among Five's group.
Every companion from this era was screwed over by the writers, the fandom, or both in their own unique way. Some of it was fixed in hindsight, especially with Nyssa, favorite companion of Peter Davison and beloved of Big Finish that she is. By the time we get to Peri and Mel, it feels like the companions were being set up to fail and doomed from the start. Adric and Turlough, as male companions, have to fight an uphill battle to justify their existence, especially since they both break away from the traditionally male companion role of "handsome man of action who does the fight scenes and convinces women to watch the show".
Tegan was the most "normal" of Five's companions, which is why she stuck around for as long as she did. She could fill a sort of generic companion role that you couldn't convincingly do with the alien companions. She had more in common with the audience. But, having her just exist to ask "What's that?" over and over didn't do much for her characterization.
Looking into the show's history and what the team behind the scenes seemed to want to do with it at the time, it all sort of makes sense. Most of the writers seemed more interested in sci-fi concepts than in characters. The characters were kept generic to avoid distracting from the worldbuilding and complex plot exposition. This is probably how Five got his reputation for blandness. A lot of televised Five stories have the Doctor as a generic Doctor and the companions as generic companions. They didn't have to be written this way. They had personalities. But most of the writers had little interest in actually using them.
The isn't as big of a problem in EU media. You got a new generation of writers with more interest in the characters, so the characters got developed in a way the show never really let them. However, that doesn't mean that the EU just came in and made everything perfect. This applies to pretty much every character but the way it applies to Tegan is interesting. It's my belief that Tegan, though written well at times, was never utilized in the way that would've worked best.
To explain what I mean by that, we'll have to step away from Tegan for a moment and look at the Fifth Doctor. Since the Doctor is the main character for most eras of the show, the companions are usually written to compliment them in some way. The male companions of the 60s were made into action heroes because that was something the Doctor couldn't do. The companions often have different moral positions from the Doctor, creating situations for them to learn from each other. The plot of the early seasons was basically all about the balance of the worldviews of the Doctor vs. Ian and Barbara. And from them, the basic ideas behind how companions are supposed to work were established.
But, as the Doctor regenerated, you ended up with different personalities and different skill sets. The Second Doctor had better social skills than the first and was often easier to get along with. He occasionally needed his companions to call him out, but the tone of it had changed. Compare The Edge of Destruction, where the Doctor is definitely in the wrong and needs to learn to listen to Barbara, who talks some sense into him, to The Evil of the Daleks, where Jamie calls the Doctor out for lying to him and risking his life, but the audience is given enough context to know that the Doctor is doing the best he can and tried to avoid risking Jamie to the point of offering himself up in his place, making the situation more of a misunderstanding. The Doctor was being dishonest, but he put more thought into Jamie's safety than Jamie was aware of. The conflict is now far more two-sided.
We could go into the whole history of this process, but I think I've made my point. Now we've got to ask how this applies to the Fifth Doctor. Every Doctor sort of serves as a response and contrast to the previous one. Two is more socially aware than One, but this awareness allows him to manipulate people and be more dishonest. Now we look at how Five contrasts with Four.
The important thing here is actually a trait of both Three and Four that Five seems to lack, but that he doesn't really know how to solve problems without, something I could describe as a Vibe of Authority. Three and Four could show up in a room full of strangers and make them all shut up and listen to them. It was in their force of personality. Five doesn't have this trait. He tries to make people shut up and listen, but they don't and then people start dying.
The thing is, the Doctor is perfectly capable of saving the day without the Vibe of Authority. We already know this by Five's time because Two pulled it off easily. He was a funny little man in shaggy clothes. When he showed up in a situation, he didn't feel like an authority who needed to be listened to. He was just a traveler who happened to be in the neighborhood, noticed that there seemed to be some trouble, and now he's curious. Two would often stay on the sidelines, ask questions, learn about what was going on and the motives of everyone involved, and only take action once he already knew everything and had been around for long enough for the locals to realize that he knew what he was talking about. They'd notice that the people who dismissed him tended to be killed by monsters more than those who listened to him, and they started listening.
Some Doctors have the Vibe of Authority and some don't. Some are a bit more vague about it. 3, 4, and 6 definitely have it. 2 and 7 don't and know how to get by without it. The new series tends to give the Doctor the Vibe of Authority or the ability to gain that authority with one good speech. Midnight is about what would happen in 10's usual Vibe of Authority failed him. 13 has the same problem as 5 with the added implication of sexism being involved. 15 has the Vibe of Authority unless racism is involved.
So you end up with three (2 and a half, really) lose categories of Doctors with Authority, Doctors that lack Authority and can make it work, and Doctors that lack Authority but can't make it work and thus suffer. 5 invented this category.
The thing is, the audience wants to see the Doctor save the day. A few tragic failures here and there are memorable. You have the occasional Midnight where things don't work like they're supposed to, the occasional Dot and Bubble where it's all outside the Doctor's control, and it works. But, if it happens all the time, it's just depressing. You don't wanna have too many be losses in a row. You'll notice that Midnight and Dot and Bubble are both stories where a Doctor with Authority gets into a situation where their authority is compromised. This isn't the norm for them. But, with Doctors like 5, people not listening and dying tragically is the norm. It's very cynical and no fun.
So, how do we get around this? Companions. If the Doctor can't take control of the situation himself, you get a companion who can do it for him. Get everyone to shut up and listen to their friend the expert.
Tegan is perfect for this. We see it from the very beginning. In Logopolis, when she ends up in a situation, she tries to take charge. This clashes with Four's authority, but that's not a problem with Five. He thinks it is, because he expects to be treated like Three and Four, but instead of trying to be like them and failing, he could learn that Tegan could help him out. The flight attendant keeps the passengers calm and instructs them on what to do in an emergency while the pilot sorts out what's wrong with the plane.
In this format, Tegan is a sort of update of Barbara designed for a Doctor like Five. The Doctor has to learn that, despite her being an ordinary human, she's someone worth listening to. They develop a sense of mutual respect and start working as a team. They get into situations. The Doctor is the one who knows how to fix it, but Tegan is the one makes sure it gets done.
If you look at Castrovalva, you can see that Bidmead, season 18's script editor who wrote season 19's first story on the way out, seemed to be aware of this. It's kind of funny that Bidmead basically wrote the instructions for how to manage the new TARDIS team into the script and either no one noticed or no one followed them.
Tegan takes charge and keeps the group together. Nyssa is the STEM genius who handles the technobable. Adric is the show's connection to the past, connecting the Doctor to Tegan and Nyssa kind of like how Susan connected the Doctor to Ian and Barbara. Also he can sort of fly the TARDIS with his math powers.
But, instead, we got Tegan being portrayed as an obnoxious complainer, Nyssa as a borderline non-entity, and Adric refusing to get along with anyone and none of his skills amounting to anything.
Between this and Frontios, which gave Turlough an arc without being his introduction or exit, Bidmead was obviously one of the most competent writers of this era.
Anyway, this is the part where I blame sexism.
This TARDIS team set-up would be based on its own version of The Edge of Destruction, a crisis that gets everyone working together for the first time. Specifically, it would involve the Doctor learning to listen to Tegan, like the First Doctor learned to listen to Barbara.
Yes, the third story of the Hartnell era was basically about the Doctor learning to listen to and respect a woman. Yes, the Hartnell era is dated, and that includes its treatment of women, but by Classic who standards, it was one of the most progressive eras in that regard. You started off with Verity Lambert as producer, a woman with a major role behind the scenes and it pays off. Yes, the women screamed a lot and needed to be rescued sometimes. Susan was particularly bad about this, despite having the potential to not be. But, Susan is recognized for her intelligence. Ian and Barbara are treated as equals and treat each other as equals. The Doctor learning to respect humanity is somewhat based in respecting Barbara in particular. By The Edge of Destruction, Ian had called the Doctor out on his bullshit multiple times. The Doctor would behave better for a little while, but he kept being a bastard. It's Barbara calling him out that causes him to change. Basically, when the Doctor thinks about his love and respect for humanity and how great humans are, he's thinking of Barbara.
Tegan was basically Barbara for a new generation. An ordinary human woman who was still intelligent and capable as a leader. But, Tegan's more assertive side was consistently portrayed as something annoying, with the implication that she needed to shut up and listen to the Doctor. It's the opposite of what you got with Barbara twenty years prior.
And, though Tegan has been given more depth and written sympathetically, this aspect of the character still hasn't really been recognized. To my knowledge, there still isn't a story where the Doctor has to put aside his pride and listen to Tegan. And I think that's kind of sad.
A lot of new series companions (especially Donna) have worked to make up for this. It's not the 1980s anymore. But we can't fully dismiss this as "people from the past sucked" when the show was more progressive in 1964 than it was in 1984.
Anyway, tldr: Tegan deserved better
That's all I got.

heyy i saw your latest post about john's aromantic trutherism and i didn't exactly understand what you mean by that... could you explain? i too don't think he is actually in love with abigail if that's what you were saying...?
hiii!!! 1: thank you for asking about this im excited to write and analyze him in this way
2: plsplspls get the idea outta ur head that aromantic people cant love. noooo i couldnt have been misunderstood more. i wanna clarify that i do think john loves abigail. i just dont think that love is all that romantically motivated and ive got a few reasons to believe so.
3: uhhhh uhhh this ended up being like 2.5k words of analysis on john im sorry. no one on tumblr has asked me my thoughts about him before so this is the first time im talking about a lot of the stuff here and theres so much ive thought about johns character and its all messy and intertwined. itll be a little all over the place. i am deeply sorry.
okay. first reason? hes otherwise not much of a romantic. whether he wants to be or not, he falls flat on his face every attempt there is at being romantic with abigail (rarely do we see him be romantic with other women) is usually met with disdain, if there even are many to begin with. its rare to hear john say something pleasant about having a woman, and its rare to ever witness them having a good time together while in the gang.
...up until the epilogue and john gets his shit together. but by that point i could argue further analysis as to how john isnt wholly himself by that point. hear me out.
john and arthur are two halves of one whole to me. its clear theres some sort of void in john after arthur dies, and he still holds the memory of arthur very very dear. he does his best to keep the memories alive, in fact, in a way to keep arthur alive.
this starts extending to some kinda interesting parallels, though. writing and drawing in arthurs journal like he did, the hat being placed on johns head, john proposing with marys ring, the phrasing and tone of johns proposal is also shockingly familiar to arthur telling john that itd make him happy if john went to his family... after arthurs death, i find john taking on many of his traits even. he becomes more quiet and closed off, we see it even in rdr2 with arthur telking him to "knock it off with the whole being mysterious thing" or whatever. arthur claims its to act like dutch, but ill do you one better, its clearly just john idolizing his older brother and trying to be like him to be a proper man. this brings me to my next point...
the time period of rdr2!!! yayyy cowboys, the victorian era, Did u know. being a man was something you had to do in previous american and european cultures? this slowly started fading as we roll over into the 20th century, but there was a lot of emphasis placed on performing your role as a man. to be a good man, you must do xyz. otherwise, you are seen as immature, as a boy, as a child.
throughout the entire series of red dead redemption, both 1 and 2, theres a lot of stuff pointing towards jogns struggle to Be A Man. arthur and dutch frequently refuse to let him grow up, still calling him "little john" and still treating him like hes a rowdy unruly boy that needs to learn better, not a man who should know better. hosea is the only man treating john like hes a man, and even then id say hes fairly lax with the guy. only as the story of rdr2 progresses do we see arthur start to shift his view towards john. not as a boy to stay a boy, because the gang isnt gonna be around forever. john cant keep being a boy. he needs to become a man, take care of his family.
working off a distinctly gentleman influenced view of masculinity, johns inability to be a man is almost directly tied to his inability to be a proper romantic for his wife. compared to arthur, who is seen taken women on dates and flirting with them just to make them laugh at times. hes dancing with the ladies and helping them up and down the coaches, wagons, and horses. john like. just barely remembers to do that for abi in the epilogue. again, his failings to be a true romantic are tied with his failings as a man.
in rdr1, this even extends to bill having the bit of dialogue, "you always were a scared little boy!" continuing to imply that john is not a man, hes never been a man. the only reason we can read him as a man Now is because we are going by arthurs definition of manhood. we can extend this further and say bill still views john as a boy because john does not live up to bills expectations of manhood- while arthur may view being a man as something chivalrous, more gentlemanly, bill clearly views masculinity as power and violence, without much to do with women. john does not live up to that, to bill, until the end.
if you read "masculinity" as "being romantic and chivalrous towards women", then, as john fails at being a romantic, he too fails at being a man. there are a lot of other ways john is immature and childish but this is a really easy one to point out if you know the time period and just how much emphasis was placed on both romanticism and manliness, and how they intertwined.
third reasoning for aro john: his family wasnt his for so much of his life. this one is another one that needs a bit of elaboration i fear.
the story of john and abigail getting together is simple enough. she joined the gang at 17 as a sex worker, slept around with some of the gang, then for one reason or another, very clearly believed that the pregnancy was johns. john runs away for a year.
in this time, we dont know a whole lot about what gang life was like without john. however, with arthurs comments about marrying abigail himself and loving her, and his close relationship with jack, i think its pretty clear arthur was the one being a man in johns place. when john left, there was a john shaped hole arthur had to fill. (i also like to think this because the potential misery of arthur having to lose his family a second time once john returns is fun to me.)
even in the story of rdr2, we see john Love and Care For his family, but its never in the same, romantic way arthur seems to involve himself in abi and jacks lives. john will defend them with his life, but when it actually comes to pulling himself up by his bootstraps and being a father or a husband, he kinda just drags his feet and gets lost. he has to be told to reunite with his family at jacks party, despite, in my eyes, his love for jack being very clearly displayed while they were looking for him.
this is only bolstered by the conclusion of rdr2, with john and arthur on the mountain. arthur, in all his holy parallels, like jesus passing the virgin mary off to john the beloved, arthur tells john it would make him very happy if [john] went to be with his family and left. arthur is passing his family off onto john, the same as jesus passed his family onto saint john. (this one hits harder if you know the rest of the "arthur is jesus" parallels and symbolism but i feel like those would be more impactful as a web weave, and i cant make one right now haha. most obvious one i can think of to support this though is arthur being a scapegoat, dying for the gangs sins.) remember these points they are the most important and will come back later.
reason number four: "but javier-!" shhhhshshsh lemme talk. yes. john is infinitely more intimate with javier than abigail. however, again, we must take the time period into account.
not that far off from many disgusting redpill communities today, back in the 1800s it was typically expected for men to socialize with men and women with women. there was a certain level of bonding you only had with your wife, as well as a certain level of bonding you only had with the men who were close to you.
i have got to grab this fandom by the shoulders and say rockstar did not make these men as affectionate as they should have been with each other, and thats completely platonically. this is taking romance out of the equation, these men considered each other brothers and family. they were all in a cult together. they would have been very close, and also very affectionate! they would confide in each other and hold each other and cry to each other. they would make gifts for each other and sing and dance together. you can at least see them all pass around beer bottles between each other.
do i think john and javier are closer than most? yes absolutely. do i think javier is in love with john in some way? yes absolutely. do i think its romantic? ehhh maybe. do i think john loves javier? yes absolutely. do i think its romantic? ....noo not really. their whole dynamic reads as one sided through and through to me. even if they ever got together im sure they were quickly apart again, and i doubt the relationship would have been fulfilling in the ways javier would want, leaving him longing still.
the "ive always loved you, even now" immediately funneling into a crate being shoved onto john to knock him over can also be metaphorical- javiers love is disarming to john Because he does not know how to react to it. hes never known how to react to it. hes never known how to react to love from anyone, because "love" seems to feel so much different for everyone but him.
reason ff. fiiiiive. dear god. im sorry for this being this long: john loves. he clearly loves very hard. he was clearly wrecked by arthurs death, he would clearly crawl through hell for his family, he was clearly hurt because his love for javier eventually stabbed him in the back. however, to me, a lot of this love feels similar to the love john has for dutch, or arthur, really. its familial, its platonic, it sure as hell isnt romantic. (even if the games themselves like to joke about it being so lol.)
its just clear to me that he loves. he cant not love jack and abi after everything hes done for them. he cant not love javier after being so close for so long. but in the same vein, he cant not love dutch for the same reasons. ysee what i mean? his devotion to his wife and child feels identical to the devotion to dutch, compared to arthur, whos devotion to eliza and isaac directly went against his devotion to dutch.
much like with dutch, where john was still seen as a boy, he will ferociously do the big things for his family (saving jack, defending the ranch, tackling gangsters and robbers). he will almost always fail to do the little things that would make him a true man, though. yknow. winding down, relaxing, just working, not getting involved in fights. spending some time with his family maybe.
he can shape up and be good, he just never does.
and i think thats why hes so torn between leaving on his own, leaving with his family, or staying with the gang. theres no difference between romantic, platonic, or familial love for him. when arthur tells him to go be with his family and john replies "youre my brother" its not only announcing arthur as family, but i think it only reinforces that blurred line of what love is for john. "i love you the same as them, why must i leave you behind? if they are family and i love them, then you too must be family, for i love you."
point six: i hope you remembered the first few points like i told you to. you did remember right
this brings us back around to john not being a man by not being a romantic, arthurs family being passed off to him, and also john not wholly being himself later on. in the epilogue, between 1899 and 1908, we hear about how john has been unable to avoid trouble and has them on the run still. whenever abigail asks something of him, he instead goes and does what he wants. its only after she leaves him (ultimate failure of being a man) do we see him start to shape himself up again, and i would argue this shaping up increases substantially after he reunites with charles. charles sets him on the right path and reawakens that memory of arthur. i imagine being close to blackwater also helps here. id argue due to charles' apparent closeness with arthur, and then sudden closeness to john due to john being all thats left of arthur... it makes john also feel like hes all thats left of arthur. i believe after speaking with charles and thinking to himself, he decides to fulfill the one dream arthur had, seemingly, at the end: take care of the family he had lost. well, eliza and isaac are six feet in the dirt so next best option: abi and jack.
john starts to become quieter and more in his own shell- by rdr1 hes struggling to even really ask people for help with the most basic things. he becomes a lot more of a romantic speaker. he had always used fancy words with the gang, but never with charismatic purpose in the way i feel he does in rdr1. he starts making the decisions he thinks arthur would make. as a result, the hole that arthur left behind when he died, does not get filled by john. instead it simply gets filled with whatever arthur john can muster from within himself.
id also like to bring up john being the favorite, but not the golden boy. he was the youngest and most spoiled, but he was not the one dutch turned to for just about everything. he was still living in arthurs shadow, so i imagine all of that also plays a role in johns choice to live like arthur to get his family back, to be a man. he failed at being a man by his own merits. arthur was a real man by his own merits, lets just do what we've always done and look up to our older brother about it. copy what he does. clearly hes got it all figured out, even though you know he didnt, after reading the journal.
this all is finally bolstered by john making the choice to kill micah and repeat the VDL cycle of violence, which ruins the perfect life he made for himself. he makes another decision HE, not arthur, HE would make, and thus has to deal with the consequences.
in conclusion: i think john loves a lot and very hard. hes passionate about these people. but in his own words towards javier that start to become readable as projection, "hes a cynic that wants to be a romantic" and "hes all passion, no love ('no love' being how he perceives it, due to the views of those around him. he loves abigail and jack, he loved arthur, though because his version of love was different than theirs, its not read as love. therefore, he has none in his own eyes)."
all of this coupled with a detached attachment style that leaves him cold and distant leaves him being tugged along in romances he truthfully does not feel the same about. he says he does, because he loves, but he doesnt know why the love isnt the same. so, clearly, since he loves, he must want the romance. he has to perform it for love regardless of if he truly does want romance or not. if he loves, he must be a romantic, and hes failing at being a romantic, so he cant be himself. he must be someone else in order to convey his love to his family.
i hope i got everything across alright ^-^ feel free to ask questions or send more asks ive got plenty more where that came from

I don’t know anything about the weekend but now I’m intrigued. Do you have any recs?
Wow thats a plot twist HAHA. Never a dull moment on tumblr.
Actually, if you like Matty, especially if you liked the BFIAFL era, you’d probably like The Weeknd.
He does the whole persona thing. But to an even more insane level than Matty. Like he created the “Starboy” character in his 2016 album by the same name. And he pushed it to the limit in the 2020 album “After Hours” where the character kind of becomes unhinged. The whole face covered and the red blazer thing. Throughout the music videos he’s telling a story. Finally he announced recently that he’s finished with the character. I think he’s not even going to release under “The Weeknd” anymore. He’s gonna just use his real name I think?
Anyways I wrote about this extensively for an academic journal. I’m not gonna get into it on here lest it offend some snowflakes. Plus this isn’t a Weeknd/ Abel blog so I doubt people wanna hear it. BUT I will say
Imo “After Hours” is his best work. Listen to the deluxe album cuz it has 2 alternate endings.
If you’re a pop girlie though “Starboy” and “Beauty Behind The Madness.” Are probably gonna be more your vibe.
If you like sad shit, his 2018 “my dear melancholy” is so short and so to the point. It’s all about Selena and how he loved her and she left him for Justin Bieber. “call out my name”? Masterpiece. Used to listen to it and sob when I broke up with my ex lmaooooo.
BUT, if you’re truly into R&B you’d be better off starting with his mixtapes. From way before he became famous. Some of his best writing is on there even if it’s not quite mature enough yet.
Yeah anyway. Abel is brilliant tbh. Doesn’t give interviews either so there’s not a whole lot of drama and unnecessary garbage around him. The first time people ever heard his real talking voice was just a few years ago. Like that’s how private he is. That could be changing now though. Idk. Yeah HAVE FUN! You’re lucky. I’d do anything to experience that music again for the first time.

fav authors?
surprise to literally no one i actually don't have one because i don't read much in real life, (like the ones I ever bought in real life were horror stories compilations) but i really like sarah hogle's humor, and rick riordan oh and!! diana wynne jones!!!
i also like humayun ahmed's short stories and anuja chauhan's novels ( funfact i read all of them) are my guilty pleasures tbh.
never forgiving red chillies for ruining the zoya factor by casting sonam WHEN THEY CASTED MY BABES DULQUER?!? (ik im going off tangent lols)
now now COMING ONTO THE REAL DEAL!!!
my favourite author is my inspiration, my muse, my mentor, my lover, my best friend—my rahrah!! no like fr tho i don't think i would have taken up writing seriously if it hadn't been for her. i got into writing as a means to like extend my overactive imagination onto somehwere so i didn't care about making it sound coherent or like organised until i met my favourite author. i read her stuff and it made me realise ah well fuck i gotta pull my shit together and took a hiatus from writing while trying different genres ( i had never wrote a drop of angst before that) and tried to replicate her writing by reading dozens of romantic era poetries because when i tell you her writing is literally flowing poetry while heavily based on action. like. you're behind the camera with her as she effortlessly narrates what is happening ad though youre experiencing it herself. it's safe to say ill never be able to reach her level but i geneuienly feel so blessed that i can call her my best friend and send my stuff to her bc like i dont think world recognition would as much her word does to me.
now onto TUMBLR,
who else other than @wildernessuntothemselves i had stopped reading on tumblr becase everything I was reading was getting boring and so many people were deactivating, UNTIL I stumbled across like this one drabble of yeonjun from them and oh my GOD WHEN I SAY SOME EMOTIONS WERE UNLOCKED IN ME it's like i had opened this whole new fucking chest of wonderful things—this is when i realised how much into dark stuff i am. and I feel like I really clicked with their writing because their dark writing, the obsessions and themes stems from the things like love which is like the best kind of motivation ever lmao ( it sounds so weird trust me im not a coherent person) and SO I READ ALL DO THEIR WORK, and again and again so i finished the loser lover series, the enhypen series they had and it was during yaqmn when i realised im into this shit for like i was SO FREAKING INTO IT like beomgyu is my favourite character ever from them ( close second to taehyun in hogwarts au sshhhhh) but yeah yaqmn made me realise that i wanna stay on tumblr but like also interact with them and be active in my own writing endeavours. also the author gave legit introduced me to so many cool authors with similar writing tropes and I am so so so thankful that I have found this side.
@hyewka gotta thank mort for introducing me to THE WONDERFUL WORKS OF rana like fr tho, like from the first story it was a hit on the nail on me. i love love love the way rana writes so so so much like they way they articulate their works, the whole situation and the emotions and their TROPES AGH CHEFS KISS. i love that their works are so long because it leaves room for me to see the development between the two characters making it feel so much worthwhile when they fuck in the end lmao like even their toxic works ( BRO HOW DO THEY ARTICULATE THEIR TOXIC CHARACTERS SO WELL) LIKE I'm literally always in awe bc it doesn't ever come off surface level? it's always so so detailed in the plain sight like whatever fucked up shit they do it notion they have it comes off genuine like this person isn't a caricature which is so hard to pull off. i can only ever wish to ever plot a detailed one shot like rana.
@itz-yerin the angst queen fr she is. okay but i know yerin is quite literally famous for her angsts( I'll come back this later) but what drew me to her stories were the fluffs. as someone who doesn't write fluffs because i feel i come off phony ( wow go off edgelord) but dude i read works and the way it's crafted with so much simplicity and love that you genuinely feel the love the characters have for each other and its done in the most mundane situations of life and i love that so much!!!
and her angst too omg, like i think ive never seen anyone tumblr yet use the trope she does in her angst and it's such a wonderful touch that makes me wanna keep reading ans ik most of her works don't really have a happy ending but it creates such a bittersweet ending that leaves this biting feeling in your heart. yerin truly the queen of hurt-hurt genre.
@channoticedmeuwu i know i haven't read much of kai's works YET BUT BRO listen the drabbles that ive read from like the flow of them genuinly makes me believe it's like those pretty lores and fairy tales that you are meant to narrate out out. the vocabulary choices and the way she structures her sentences gives me so so much joy like a number of time. ive literally sat there in awe rereading her sentences again and again. ALSO PACING!! the pacing makes me feeling like I'm walking the character, sometimes they way it indulges you into storyline is literally so magical. i swear to god i wish i could write like that man it's so so so soooo pretty!!
@ox1-lovesick was legit gobsmacked by sav's writing the first time i read them. it's so beautiful, and it's like so soft that makes you feel like. you have something swirling on the pit of the stomache—the fluff is so genuine and it doesn't come off performative at all WHICH IS LIKE SO FUCKING HARD TO DO?! bc you're reading stuff so you feel like ah yes I need to make them look like they are in love BUT NOT SAV even if it's the shortest passage the way they write genuinely makes you see the love the characters share and im out here shoving a pillow in my mouth or SHOVING IT IN THERE TO STOP laughing like THEY ARE SO FUNNY?!? SO FUCKIN FUNNY LIKE THEIR ONE LINERS GET ME SM OR SOME SHIT THEY WRITE LIKE got me giggling and cackling like a witch.
i actually don't read much but I'm trying to change that so when that happens this list will get WAY MORE LONGER!!!

What do you think about Beck Underwood?I think she deserves more than just been a brief girlfriend for Eddie,I imagine her been the only true friend Eddie ever had,I honestly wanna see them together again or even meeting Peter
Oh, Beck was lovely! I'm a huge enthusiast of assertive ladies who know what they want and what they're doing. Not to mention all the good she was doing for the homeless community!
I think you're right, she was way more of a friend than a girlfriend (...could she actually count as a girlfriend...? love interst - yes, but I always got a feeling that their relationship wasn't really that of a couple). She really saw the best in Eddie, although- not all of it was warranted... Still, it was pretty unusual to have a character who would look beyond all the teeth and living plasma to see that our boys(?) were more than just a villain, and she was a well-needed voice of reason and somebody with a goal and good head on her shoulders, which Venom lacked on their own. It would be nice though if either the stories she appeared in expanded on her positive influence on Venom, pushing for more character growth or is she realized how they were still acting behnd her back... the fact we never got that still makes me sad! Not to mention, I wish she also got more developement of her own... Don't get me wrong, she was a great lady, but I just wish we get to know her more! But nope, she disappeared with the end of Lethal Protector era...
Anyway, it would be great to meet her again in some good story. Oh, considering her help for the homeless community she could maybe at some point work together with Aunt May and the Feast! Wouldn't that be lovely?

3, 10, and 13 for the book ask ! bc now I wanna see your answers lol
3. What were your top five books of the year?
this isn't in any order and exludes any books that i reread this year!
gods of jade and shadow by silvia moreno-garcia
ughhh this book <3 i had been meaning to read this for years and to finally pick it up and love it like i did was beyond satisfying. the writing is phenomenal, moreno-garcia has such a charming way with words and she built such an evocative atmosphere filled with beautiful characters, characters who make the right choices even though it hurts them because it will make the world better. one of my favourite books of all time
legendborn by tracy deon
urban fantasy has never been my my favourite subgenre so no one is more surprised than me that this is one of my fav ya fantasys. i don't think this book was perfect and there are things about it that i wish were different, but it is a phenomenally powerful story about grief and trauma and racism and power. this book made me Sob and i'm incredibly mad my preorder for the second one got delayed
jade legacy by fonda lee
you know how i just said i don't particularly like urban fantasy? that doesn't include the green bone saga. i do firmly believe this is one of the best fantasy series going around. as a conclusion this was fantastic. fonda lee did something wonderfully unique by spanning this book over 20 years and it works exceptionally well. i love these characters and this world and i hope all fantasy readers pick it up
raybearer by jordan ifueko
another excellent ya fantasy book, this felt both fresh and familiar because ifeuko used the common callinge of (ya) fantasy but then placed them in a world so different from anything else i have read (heavily inspired by various myths from various places in africa). the characters are divine, the romance is sweet and the plot is incredible
mad destiny + ship of destiny by robin hobb
slightly cheating here with two books but these are impossible to separate (the only reason book one isn't on here is because i read it last year). hobb is my second fav fantasy writer of all time, i can understand why people wouldn't look these books, but her character work and development is the best i have ever read. these books Hurt but they are so good and so perfect and i really need to get back into this world
10. What was your favorite new release of the year?
fun fact! i'm terrible at reading new releases and only read four books that came out this year
brotherhood by mike chen
apparently i can't even make it through one post without mentioning star wars lmao anyways this is set in my fav era and includes all of my fav characters so no surprises i absolutely loved this one
13. What were your least favorite books of the year?
hench by natalia zina walshots
i actually loved the majority of the book but then the ending was so bad that it completely ruined the book for me. it was like the author was hedging their bets on if they'd write a sequel but didn't commit so it just felt unsatisfying
the night circus by erin morgenstern
this book is the terrible yet more beloved version of gods of jade and shadow. they are not the same at all but the vibes are kinda similar. the writing is beautiful but the characters suck, the plot is irrelevant, the romance has no tension and the ending felt cheap given the stakes. anyways i hated this so much lmao
something fabulous by alexis hall
i hated this book so much because all of the the characters suck and it was totally instalovey even though one of the characters is demisexual. also it was like 150 pages too long and had one of the most contrived third act break ups ever
paper girls vol. 1
grown men shouldn't write teenage girls, particularly queer ones in 80s settings because it just felt like an excuse to use slurs. basically, the vibes were rancid
#thank you so much!!!!!#sorry i wrote a lot omg#funnily enough while i was writing this#my copy of bloodmarked finally arrived lol#seriously thank you and bless anyone who reads all this <3<3<3#books#answered#muppeted

Chapter 2
Haruhi: So… What was the story of Alice in Wonderland again? I only remember that Alice chased after a talking rabbit and got lost in a mysterious world.
That work has been paid homage to in many places, so I'm not sure which one is accurate.
Taiga: Now that you mention it, I don't remember much either. I kind of know the characters, though.
Haruhi: I think Sei knows this, wanna ask him?
Taiga: Nope. He seems busy right now, so I don't want to waste his time.
I'll go to the library later and borrow a book, make sure you read it too.
Haruhi: It's enough if Taiga reads it and tells me the synopsis.
Taiga: You can’t be serious…..
Ito: Actually, I brought some books with me.
Taiga: Oh... We really owe you one. Honestly, you’re a great help.
Ito: This one gives you an idea of the era and the original drawings.
This one is a colored version which can be used as a reference for the colors and atmosphere
They immediately picked up the books and flipped through the pages.
Haruhi: Ah, I see.
Taiga: My memories have come back to me.
I thought they were just skimming through it, but….. They’re taking notes and sketching, it seems they've already had a clear image of the cafe.
Taiga: This is just a guess... Was this theme Suoh-san’s idea?
Ito: Exactly.
Taiga: I thought so.
Ito: It seems like he met his acquaintance who researched children's literature when he went out. That’s when he read the story.
He got interested and asked his friend to tell him more about it…
Roka: Everyone, listen up!
Apparently, the author made that story for his friend's daughter!
Aiai, did you know?
And he did it off the cuff! I was so moved! With that said….
I'm thinking of making the next cafe’s theme "Alice in Wonderland"!
Taiga: And Kosaka-san just agreed like that...?
Ito: He sighed at first, but the Alice motif itself is highly compatible with the cafe.
After considering it comprehensively, he decided to give him an OK.
Taiga: I see what’s going on now.
Ito: By the way, regarding the members, the one who started it all, Roka-san, will be playing the Queen of Hearts
Taiga: Oh, the character that says "Off with his head!", right?
Haruhi: In Roka-san's case, it’s more likely that he’s the one getting decapitated.
Taiga: Watch your mouth, Haruhi….
Tsukimoto-san gave him a bitter look as Ichikawa-kun waved his hands horizontally around his neck.
Taiga: Although he can be a little pushy at times, he always brings everyone together.
Therefore, I think it's perfect for him.
Ito: (Come to think of it, Kosaka-san also said "Roka is perfect for this role." I wonder what he meant back then...)
Taiga: Just to be sure, can we confirm our roles as well?
Ito: Sure. Tsukimoto-san is the Hatter. And Ichikawa-kun is Alice
Haruhi: Alice... No matter how you look at it, that’s not my character at all. And I don't feel like chasing rabbits either.
Taiga: The fact that you don’t listen no matter how many times I scold you makes you a perfect fit actually.
Haruhi: What about you, Yashiro?
Taiga: Now you’re changing a subject...
Ito: I'm a card soldier.
Haruhi: A position where the queen works your butt off.
Ito: I'll try my best not to get my head chopped off.
Haruhi: Roka-san might get that first.
Taiga: Hey, don't bring it up again. Both of them are necessary for Aporia.
Ito: Thank you.
I will do my best to live up to those words, thank you for your cooperation.
Taiga: Ah, please raise your head, Yashiro-san!
Since I have been entrusted with this task, I will do everything I can. Looking forward to working with you.
Haruhi: Ahh... You’re both too eager.
Taiga: And you’re too loose.
Listen, Haruhi. Aporia events are not just about doing things by yourself
Don't mess around like you always do and cause trouble for Yashiro-san and the other members.
Haruhi: Your face scared me.
Ito: (They're literally polar opposite.)
That’s what I was thinking as I watched both of them interact.

Thank you all for all the asks, I encourage people incidentally to ask away if they like. I might not always have a good response but I try to generally have a response.
anyways im gonna answer ya annons together though cause theres enough of you all on generally the same subject that its simpler this way.
its the perpetual curse of the player avatar character in the fe format really.
They're about as into it as humans are really: generally not seen as okay/a societal taboo but some people are just really into it/Blaise enough about it regardless.
as for the point of the dlc, my best guess would be its there for much the same reason cindered shadows is in three houses: someone in management demanded the game have a dlc campaign/they started working on dlc as part of the usual development cycles these days but didn't want to make something directly tied to the main campaign for whatever reason. So, welcome to alt fanfic filler arc land where the stakes simultaneously dont matter/matter way too fucking much and can be conveniently ignored in the main campaign/story with ease. With that said from a story angle I do like fell xenologue more then cindered shadows anyways, but then I have a soft spot for mirror dimensions in fiction. the fell xenologue isn't as good as it could be even by those standards though.
I needed to parse the whole thing a couple a times to take the wall of text all in, but dont worry about it. what your saying is generally sound and its always interesting to hear how different fandoms approach the same thing in different or similar ways.
I knew people liked tsubaki and selena but I didn't know that one was the ship considered most cannon of fe14 selenas ships. Which as ya point out does make how she gives birth to her mothers identitcal [visually anyways] clone kinda funny in that context.
Honestly I just think its an issue of how fandom has so much purity wank going on in it these days, not even anything specific to fe. Its not enough that the blorbo is your favorite, your blorbo has to be a MORALLY GOOD PERSON too regardless of if the original text outright states that they arent a good person or not. Hence the oddly puritanical standards everyone holds characters too these days, like we had suddenly warped right back into the 1950's in terms of how mercilessly hard your judging your neighbour for having an unkempt lawn for.
I haven't engaged with the dlc characters as much compared to the main cast, so this isn't gonna be a 100% definitive answer sorry.
madelines a hard classic general, gregorys your inverse sage res tank unit with meh spd, zelestia is high on spd but average across the board otherwise, and nels the myrmidon to rafals mercenary. What ya see with their base stats is what your gonna get for them as units really. if your asking whos gonna be your most helpful, id say zelestia so long as you do the dlc early enough as their levels dont scale from what i understand.
zelestias got some chonky speed, and shes otherwise a mage knight on a flying dragon in her unique class with soulblade her class unique skill presenting some interesting avenues of exploitation in taking the average of an enemies def/res in damage calculations for swords. Give her some investment and I imagine
given the game was supposed to be released a lot sonner then it was, its not entirely surprising that the dlc came out so quick. I wouldn't quite say its 'era' is over yet mind, that simply depends on what comes out next and when.
With all that said, considering how fast it all came out I wouldn't actually be surprised if they announced a second pack of dlc if the first pack and engage as a whole does well enough. its not a sure thing but not impossible either.
I kinda wanna get a hint as to whats gonna come next though. Which is one of my bigger frustrations with is and fe really, i wish they communicated what they're plannin with the fans more.
I dont even think its ideas they're lacking in, its just a seeming reluctance on the koei assisted titles to release the additional maps the 3ds dlc ones did. all of the games since awakening have had an additional dlc campaign of sorts for instance, but in both three houses and engage they dont bother to include any of the gold or exp or weapon dlc grinding maps the 3ds games had, or try their hands at anything equivalent to the robust selections of weird dlc maps the 3ds games often hand like the festival things. engage i feel does better in this regard through the additional dlc emblem trials and campaign over three houses sitting with a dlc campaign alone but still.
i dont think your wrong.
given the trend of the mirror elyos having characters with opposing traits or aspects to their main counterparts, you could certainly head cannon that xeno sombron actually does come from his world compared to main sombron. I dont think theres any specific confirmation either way.

1. definitely nikki. i don’t really really vibe with him much and it gets annoying seeing him under tags that have nothing to do with him (like i’m trying to see mick not that giant mf)
2. rarest thing i have is the theory that the indecent exposure story was possibly a lie?? apparently mick actually was being indecent in a hotel bathroom and that’s actually why he got arrested. now this could also be a lie, or he could have just been confused for tommy, just like the original story. i just found it funny how everyone in the band has said the same thing about the story so it seems so unlikely that it was a lie, but there were newspaper articles about it…will we ever know? i have no clue. (was totally rambling here whoops).
3. favourite thing: how creative the fandom can be, be it fanart or fanfics. i’ve read some great ass fanfics in this fandom tbh, y’all are real good at this shit. least favourite thing: unfortunately, you guys are not good at simply just holding your favs accountable and keeping it real. we don’t have to defend these guys, it’s actually kind of pathetic seeing you guys defend the CRAZIEST THINGS. pls, just admit they’re all awful people and keep it pushing.
4. i’ve only really read the dirt and the heroin diaries so i’ll have to go with the basic answer of the dirt. i find the multiple perspectives great, and there’s something about reading the members collective mental breakdowns entertaining. (yes i know that sounds terrible).
5. i know everyone’s saying this but i can’t not mention the resurrection of motley crue. i’ve watched it so many times i could probably recite it all. there’s something so interesting about seeing the band dynamics right there, seeing them interact after not really seeing each other in a long time. just that scene of vince and tommy awkwardly interacting with each other is burned into my brain permanently.
6. i would say both tommy and mick. i have the attitude and philosophy of mick, with the personality and energy of tommy. so i’m a slightly depressed golden retriever boy. that probably makes no sense.
7. for this i’m just going to refer to the midnight barber bit from the mighty boosh (if you know what that is you are the coolest person on the planet) i would attribute that bit to nikki and mick. i think this bit only really reminds me of these two because of that story of nikki ripping out a clump of micks hair…yea this was a weird answer.
8. the fanfics!! omg the fanfics are some of the greatest parts of being here. ao3 has the best fics tho…no shade to the hellsite though, there’s some good things here too.
9. i wanna say all of them tbh. all of them, when pushed to a limit, acts out. i want to say nikki but the way he’s been going on about the current situation (mick) he’s been really immature about it (all his weird ass tweets) tommy we all know has a history of acting out on his emotions, and so has vince. mick on the other hand is so emotionally despondent he lets ppl walk all over him because he doesn’t WANT to act out and is afraid of letting his emotions get the best of him. they all suck at handling things emotionally, which is why they’ve broken up like 50 times.
10. it’s both for me, the music and the band itself are both entertaining enough to be obsessed with.
11. home sweet home (the solo literally speaks to my soul) and save our souls
12. as much as i appreciate the other members for replacing their respective roles as well as they could, i really don’t care about them. the original four are the only ones that matter to me. without any of the four members it really doesn’t feel like the crüe.
13. i don’t care for most of their later discography (i say that but i haven’t really listened to new tattoo or saints) like the last album i’ll actively listen to a lot is self titled. i think they should have just retired after red white and crue era and called it a day.
14. i do have a fic i’m working on…all i’ll say is major character death warning. :)
15. the best thing i’ve seen is all the mick stans going crazy over his solo debut. i was right there with y’all i can’t believe it’s taken so long but it was SO worth it!
The weirdest cruehead questionnaire
Hello everyone, so I've been looking at alot of these question-answer response things on Tumblr, yanno where people will like ask people from a specific fandom some qeustions to get to know the people in the community and the qeustions are usually stuff like, “how did you get into it?” And “Who's your favourite character/member”
So I thought I'd do something like that, but just a little…. differently.
Basically I'm gonna ask y'all qeustions I've never really heard asked in the community/low-key out of pocket crue qeustions and then you guys just reblog with your responses, that sound cool?
Great!, let's get started.
1.Which member is to you the least interesting and why? ( Not least favourite, just which member do you not spend to much thought on)
2. What is the rarest Mötley crüe story or bit of information that you know?
3. What's your favourite and least favourite thing about the fandom?
4. What is your favourite Mötley book and why?
5. What is your favourite Mötley crüe supplementary material to watch (so this would include the movie, any documentaries, cartoons, anything like that) and why?
6. Which member do you personally identify with and why?
7. Pick a quote from anything non-Mötley related that reminds you of your favourite member and explain how you think it relates to them or why you think it matches them.
8. What's your favourite piece of crüe content that comes from the fandom itself ( fanart, fanfic etc.)
9. Which member do you think is the best at handling emotional situations in the band, and who's the worst and why do you think that?
10. Are you more in the fandom for the music or for the members/crazy stories themselves?
11. What song means something to you personally, good or bad?
12. Which one of the non-original members do you actually prefer to the original members?
13. What's a Mötley opinion that everyone else seems to agree on and you don't or what opinion do you have that nobody else shares?
14. Do you have any unfinished crüe content that you are/where making that you wanna share a bit of? ( This can be fanart, fic ideas, album aliases etc.)
15. What's the best thing you've experienced in the fandom?

Lmao just know I'm brainrotted and am mentally making both my Xatts Anthros but more animal aligned than anthro Xatts cause Xep is based on a hare in my mind so I wanna turn her into a gangly limbed uncanny hare freak (lovingly) with stupid big ears who just generally has major something is very very wrong with her vibes and probably delights in torture and maiming like a little freak and would growl at Hayden ears pinned back in aggression showing, sharp back teeth that definitely probably shouldnt be there if he looked at the rabbit Xatt anthro too long.
Meanwhile sweet bun Xatt is stuck with this terrifying lanky maniac and is just shaped smaller squishy and ever so soft and fluffy with such delicate gentle paws and a light step. And Xep just wants to dress her up and admire her prize. But also probably has something a bit wrong with her as well. What exactly idk but probably don't get caught snooping somewhere you shouldn't by her. Cause I like the oh a cute lil lady <3 - oh there's something wrong with her actually. Maybe magic idk like I like the idea of powers especially darker magic making her perhaps just as deadly as the maniac hare.
Cause both being Xatts they're both dangerous just in slightly different ways bun is a cutesy lure with the unexpected jaw while Xep is cunning and moreso hunts and I think that'd translate over making them both deadly in different ways. They probably have some sort of work deal pact, not sure what or why I like them being in a fucked up partnership cause dynamic. Bound by blood. I'm just so brain rotted and so normal about this XD with so many mental images of art I'll never make but oof I wanna. I just thought you had a right to know your hayden world stuff urg it consumes me I love thinking about it its so fun.
Also I just like uncanny Valley hare lanky wrong and unnerving paired with a small fluffy and trustworthy bunny rabbit. Like the brain is vibrating at mental imagery of that the opposites the cute correct adored and the terrifying incorrect feared, always kind of bound to the other inseparable almost. Idk I can't fully explain it but thoughts go BRRR
In regards to the designs, any proportions you wanna draw them with are totally fine! You can draw 'em anthro with human proportions and clothing, you can draw them quad, you can draw 'em like Bugs Bunny and anything in between. Xatts can come in many shapes and sizes! A long gangly uncanny one sounds cool.
Also, having something "wrong" with 'em and a slightly ominous streak is very much in character for Xatts...they tend to be a little odd and feral at the best of times--it's mostly a matter of what their individual "bad" percentage is and how good they are at controlling it.
Also, your description of your two as a tag team sounds very endearing! I'll keep that in mind when I do your Xatt sketches… (still planning that, just catching up on stuff and in a bit of a digital art slump at the moment)
In regards to Hyden's reaction, I can certainly say he'd be rather creeped out by a Xatt. Once the surprise wore off, though, he'd be fascinated by this strange, new, potentially magical creature… careful, Xep, don't let him get you on the dissection table!
In the current version of the Amaranthine story, Xatts aren't canonically present--they're more of a free-floating monster idea that could be plugged into any setting--but they were originally part of Amaranthine back in 2009.
In the original 2009-era backstory for Xatts, they were born from the Shadow. Given that Hyden was the one who released the Shadow upon the world in the first place, that would have made him their accidental "father", in a way.
The connection between the two isn't canon anymore, but just a fun little bit of trivia. :)
#apologies for the late response... I had this open in a tab but then my browser got closed and everything slipped my mind#wonder what else I may have forgotten... :I#xatts#xatt#mushroom-for-art#ask#anon#doodles#sketches#my ocs#hyden

So for my first request, can you write a oneshot featuring Leorio and a male reader in an Aladdin AU please? In the story, Leorio is a street rat who also works as an unofficial doctor for the orphans and elderly. One day, he's called by the royal palace to take care of the prince reader who's sick. The reader is a gentle and soft-hearted man who takes an interest in his new unorthodox doctor. What do you think?
Thank you for the request! Despite it taking me so long to write I had fun with this and it was actually my first au I've written! I don't think I've ever seen Aladdin if I'm being honest (though I know the gist of it). I made some edits so it's more of an Aladdin inspired setting, and also the reader is gn!. Regardless, I hope it is what you were looking for and please enjoy!
Characters: Leorio x gn! reader
Genre: Fluff mostly?
Warnings: Some descriptions of wounds and illness, minor character death
Summary: Aladdin inspired! AU Leorio is a doctor living a humble lifestyle caring for the poor, when he hears of the young heir to the throne being ill and in need of a doctor. Leorio seeks out the opportunity as a way to ultimately help the poor, but it doesn’t go quite as expected…
Notes: Words such as heir, highness, majesty are all intended to be gender neutral.
UM I FINALLY FINISHED THIS!!! It’s finals era and also I just haven’t been doing super great lately but I still wanna try getting stuff out there! If you’ve requested something I promise I’m working on it and I’ll do my best to make it a quality piece!
»»————- ♡ -————««
Dust sweeps the ground as wind billows into the exposed room. Well, it’s hardly a room.
“Your talents are wasted on us, young man. You should be off taking care of important people, earning a real living.” A old woman huffs. Her skin is waxy and thin, and she appears fragile like she could crumble to dust any moment.
“Your lives are worth more than all the money in the world,” he says, smiling while he focuses on preparing an ointment. The lady smiles down at him too.
“Still, it would be a shame for you to miss this opportunity.”
“What do you mean?” Leorio sits up, brows creased.
“You haven’t heard? The young heir to the throne has fallen ill. Just weeks ago the court doctor passed, and they are desperately searching for someone to fill the position.” Leorio ponders this for a moment. He doesn’t know much about the young lord, or any royalty for that matter, he’s always too busy caring for himself and others.
“I couldn’t leave you all, though.”
“Oh don’t you worry about us, we’ve lived this long already. We’ll manage fine without you.” He remains silent while he finishes caring for the rest of his patients. There are many of them, with sicknesses and wounds that greatly vary.
He was only trained a little by his mentor, before his untimely death, then he studied as much as he could on his own. But most of his experience was gained on the job. When the cold night falls he returns to his home, if he could even call it that. It’s a claustrophobic room with more dust than furnishings that he shared with rats and other people seeking shelter. It was always too cold at night and too hot during the day, not that he spends much time there anyway. It’s a place to sleep and that’s it. He ponders what he was told today about the prince. Helping people isn’t lucrative, but it was fulfilling and that was enough for him. But if he had more money he could help people too, if he worked for the prince himself he would be able to buy proper shelter and medicine for all those people. It’s a tempting offer.
The next day is much of the same. He easily barters for a bit of breakfast at the markets. Considering most of the people have family he’s helped, or have themselves been helped by him, he usually gets things at a good discount. Leorio is well liked around town; he’s friendly and always willing to help, even going out of his way to do so. His passion is in helping people, and taking care of those who are weaker. But as he makes his way to the makeshift care center, he can’t help but think about the words of the old lady over and over again.
“Leorio! You’re just in time, something urgent has come up and we need help immediately!” A young man, volunteering at the center since his only guardian is being treated there, rushes toward Leorio. In an instant Leorio follows the boy to a crowd of people. A woman is lying on the floor, severely wounded, and people are crowdinf around her, either attempting to help or simply unable to move due to panic.
“Everyone clear the area. I need space. Prepare a cloth and warm water and some bandages!” At the sound of Leorio’s voice the pain turns to organized chaos, and everyone sets in motion. In the center, Leorio’s word is law, and everyone trusts him and his judgement and skill. He leans down to the woman to inspect the wound. It’s a messy gash, likely from an attack.
“What happened?” He asks, voice and hands steady.
“She was attacked by bandits on her way into the city. Luckily she made it to safety before collapsing, then she was brought here.”
“No debris in the wound, we got lucky. We’ll clean it and bandage it. It isn’t near any vitals so she will be fine.” Just as he finishes speaking some people arrive with water and bandages as requested. The cloth is poor, but it is all that can be afforded, and as long as it is clean they can use it. He cleans around the wound while the young boy soothes the hissing patient. After cleaning he gently applies an ointment and wraps it the best he can.
“We’ll need to prepare a fresh set of bandages if we can. Once these are soiled switch them out, I’ll use my own shirt if I have to.”
“Thank you so much Leorio, you’re truly our savior. You’ve helped so many people, and we’re all so grateful.” He smiles at the crowd of people who have gathered now around him in gratitude. He smiles sheepishly, but turns when his voice is called again. Immediately panic bubbles in him again and he sighs. Though he may seem calm, these situations are stressful, and he never quite gets used to them.
“What’s the issue?” He asks, facing the old woman who called to him.
“Oh nothing dire, no need to look so serious. I’ve spoken with an old friend of mine, she’s a maid who works for the royal family. She said she can get you into the castle to meet the young lord, and will even put in a good word for you! This really is a perfect opportunity for you!” He is stunned. A part of him is nervous, what if things go wrong, he could be sent to jail and then there would be no one to take care of all these people. Another part of him is grateful, to have people that care about him and his future. But he still isn’t convinced he should go.
“I don’t know… I still can’t see how leaving you all is a good thin-“
“Help! Come quickly!” A new voice interrupts, and once again panic grips him. He runs over only to see a ghastly sight. Many people recoil or even leave the room when they see the pallid and gasping person.
“What happened?” Leorio asks, unable to contain his shaking this time.
“We’re not sure, we think it was a deathstalker.” Deathstalkers, the most dangerous scorpions in the region. Leorio’s panic intensifies. “We need antivenom, we have some right?” Leorio looks at the person, then at the patient, and shakes his head slowly. Only choked sounds can be heard from the poor victim, who is now coughing up blood.
“He’s not breathing!” The man shouts.
“It’s a severe allergic reaction to the venom, there’s nothing we can do now. Even if we had antivenom.”
“You have to do something!” Leorio grips his knee, trying to quell his shaking, but he is helpless.
Then sounds stop.
“Antivenom is extremely expensive and difficult to obtain, and even with it, there’s no guarantee it would cure him entirely.” Leorio’s voice is low and solemn. The people around Leorio all go quiet, and a solemness fills the room. All he can think about is if he had the money, this could be different. If he had the money he could have a proper care center, proper medicine and bandages. He could prevent this from happening again. And so he made up his mind.
He swallos nervously as he walks up the palace stairs. Lavish gold embellishes every wall, pillar, doorway and decor. Leorio scoffs at the exorbitance. Eventually he comes to face a couple attendants.
“Mr. Paladiknight I presume?” The man on the left says. His posture is perfect, and though he is merely a servant his raiment puts Leorio’s finest cloth to shame.
“Mrs. Maysa has told me about your recommendation,” the man motions to the older woman beside him, who nods enthusiastically, “I will admit I expected you to be a bit more… distinguished. Nevertheless I have full confidence in your skills, and well, our majesty is in dire need of assistance. I will show you to their chambers now.”
Leorio follows them to a room with a grand doorway. The attendant knocks on the door and announces his entrance.
“Your highness, I present Mr. Paladiknight, a doctor of high esteem. We will take our leave now.” The two attendants leave Leorio alone with the heir, lying in bed, concealed by luxurious curtains.
“Please, come in. There is no need to be tense or formal.” The heir speaks, their voice soft but weak. Leorio takes a seat on a chair at the bedside. A plethora of medical equipment is neatly arranged, with many tools and remedies Leorio could never hope to afford. Slowly, the curtain is pulled back by a frail hand, and he finally sees the young royal. They indeed look quite ill, but still retain an air of beauty and majesty.
“Well Doctor, how do I look?” They speak, pulling a light hearted smile.
“It’s too soon for a diagnoses, your highness. I’ll check your vitals, and I’ll need to ask about your symptoms.” The heir chuckles lightly, followed by a cough, while Leorio checks them.
“So professional. Other doctors would always tarry, fawning with flattery. You know why you’re here, though. Oh, and you may simply call me Y/N, I have no love for formalities.” Leorio pays no mind to their amused words, continuing with his diagnoses. But he already has a good idea of the illness, indicated by the dewy and pallid sheen on their skin, The bitter flu, commonly dubbed “the shivers”, is not terribly uncommon, but it takes a lot of time to recover from. It typically targets younger and healthier people, and though it’s not especially fatal, it has caused many fatalities. Those who cannot afford to take time to rest continue to work while ill, which often overwhelms and overworks their body. It frequently claims the lives of the young and able, but poor, that way. Leorio grits his teeth and leans back.
“It’s the bitter flu, your hi-, Y/N. As long as you get ample rest it should pass, however I noticed some unusual inflammation. There’s likely a complication in your lungs, untreated it could make this much more severe.” The heir seems surprisingly unfazed.
“Well Doctor, can you treat it?” Leorio can’t help but scoff at them.
“Of course, that’s my job.”
Over the next two weeks Leorio treats Y/N, and surely they begin to regain their strength. He feeds them nutritious soups prepared by the kitchen, administers medicine, and helps them with light stretches and exercise. He even read to them at night, at their behest. Though Y/N is kind, if somewhat curious about him and his practice, Leorio remained focused. They were right: he isn’t here to gain their favour, or to seek status, knowledge or consortium. He is here to get his job done, and ultimately fulfill his goal of helping the poor. Though this only makes Y/N appreciate him even more. He should be eager to leave the gaudy palace halls and return to his people, and he thought he would be. But his heart feels heavy at the thought of leaving, and something makes him long to stay. Or someone…
“Well Y/N, I believe my services are no longer required. You have recovered quite well and are nearly in peak condition.” Leorio says while cleaning the mess he made of the medical supplies, attempting to put them back in the orderly fashion in which he found them.
“Indeed, you have done your job well,” Y/N speaks, with their ever lighthearted tone, though their face seems slightly crestfallen. “But…” They begin, uncharacteristically at a loss for words, and Leorio now turns fully to them, interested in what is tying their tongue.
“Well, I was hoping you would stay… I mean, as a doctor! Your skills are unmatched, and your regular services would be highly valuable.” They finish, rushing their words, but Leorio doesn’t fail to notice the slight colour in their cheeks. A sign of good health, if nothing else. His heart flutters unexpectedly, and he too now finds himself at a loss for words. He has secretely dreaded leaving the palace, not because he does not wish to return to his clinic, but because he has grown used to Y/N’s company. Their soft smiles and kind words. He never expected a member of royalty to be so… pleasant. But he recalls all the people from his clinic, and his heart falters and stings. He opens his mouth to speak, but Y/N beats him to it.
“I know you have a clinic, in the northern part of town. We could fund the construction of an actual clinic if you wish, and you can see them too! But… please, stay here.” Their pleading tone shocks him, and he would be insane to refuse them. He didn’t really have to give up anything after all. Not his clinic and his goals, or his one chance at relief, at company, at something… more.
“Of course, Y/N.” He smiles and sits back down, taking their hand in his.

Hello!! Fairly new Doctor Who fan here—I’ve finished Nine and am partway through Ten and am absolutely loving it—and I had a question: when/where do you recommend starting with the audio dramas? I started one about Nine, but got the feeling that I was running into spoilers…thanks!
(Also, love your blog!)
hi there!! :D
I'm so sorry I've left this ask unanswered for so long 😅🙃 I hope you don't mind me finally coming around to answering your question now; hopefully you're still interested in the DW audios!! they are honestly so much fun, and it always excites me when I see someone new looking to get into them, whether they've been a long-time DW fan or are just getting into the show!!
maybe it'll help a bit if I just share my own experience with getting started with the audios--I started watching DW not long after Thirteen's first series (s11) aired, and enjoyed those episodes so much that I went all the way back to s1 and watched through the entire show. once I finished watching all of NuWho (all the episodes 2005-present), I wanted to try some Big Finish audios, but I didn't want to spend any money on them yet because I wasn't sure how much I was going to like them (and also I was a broke high school student 😅😂). I was informed that there were quite a few of the older audios available on Spotify (completely free!), so I found a list of some of the best stories online somewhere and listened to one audio from each of the Fifth, Sixth, Seventh, and Eighth Doctor's storylines. I still knew basically nothing about any of the Classic Doctors or their companions or the story arcs they had on TV, so I was a bit lost with Five, Six, and Seven (although the Six story I listened to was 'Jubilee,' and I did thoroughly enjoy that one even without much prior context).
the one story that really stuck for me was the Eighth Doctor audio I listened to, 'The Chimes of Midnight'. there was some earlier context that I was missing that caused some of the major plot moments to be a bit confusing for me, but both the Doctor and the companion were brand-new and there wasn't a ton of show-canon context that I didn't have, unlike with the other Doctors' audios. so I went back to 'Storm Warning,' the first audio with Eight and the introduction to his companion Charley Pollard, and moved forward through Eight's audios from there.
so this is usually the path that I recommend people new to Big Finish take when getting started too! both because it's so accessible (due to the first major arc of Eight and Charley's stories being free and easy to access on Spotify), and because Eight barely has any screentime at all, so it was left up to the audios to pretty much develop the character from the ground up. and it worked really well for me and has done for others I've recommended starting this way.
however, if you'd rather try another course than this one, the Tenth Doctor's audios are also a pretty good jumping-on point for a new Big Finish listener. I've only listened to a few of them, but I enjoyed the ones I heard, and there wasn't really any context that you would need outside of Ten's TV episodes to enjoy them. (you definitely do need to have seen all of his TV run before listening to those audios, though.)
another decent place to start would be with the Diary of River Song audios, or the Tenth Doctor and River Song boxset (but only once you've watched through the Eleventh Doctor's era, and only if you actually like River Song as a character. otherwise these audios will probably just be irritating to you, since she's, ya know, the main character of them 😅)
I'm also going to leave this post open for any of my DW friends who would wanna chip in and add their recommendations for the best places to start with Big Finish to do so! there is honestly so much good storytelling in the audios; at this point, I really do think Big Finish does far more for my love of Doctor Who than the show (which isn't to diss the show at all; that's just how good the audio writers are and how much I really do enjoy the stories they come up with!)
(and aww, thank you!! ^-^ :D)

I know no one cares about voltron anymore (or at least not like they used to) and tbh I don’t either but Keith is still my emotional support character I can project onto when I need to work through some emotions and I just went through an entire season worth of story arc in my head on this new au idea so hear me out.
This is a sheith au with some toxic NSFW mention so antis DNIA. Keith is a trans man as well in this au.
What if sometime before Keith goes to the quantum abyss and they find out about Lotor (but Lotor still turns out evil) Honerva hits Keith with the mind control but instead of a mindless drone she targets his insecurities and he goes full villain era where he just doesn’t give a fuck anymore. Because arguably there is a lot Keith has been through where at any point he could have said ‘fine, you want me to be the villain? I’ll be your villain’ and with the recent trend online embracing going ape shit cuz we’re tired of being nice I thought it was a valid theme to explore. There’s still so much in between I wanna say but it’s already a long post so have this for now because I had to share.
Like I can actually see Keith aligning with Lotor and Honerva’s plans to jump realities so he can join them in a world where the Galra have a home planet. Him forming an actual plan to destroy voltron because he’s resentful of their mistrust of him being Galra. Or just how they hate on the Galra for being the enemy and he takes it kind of personally. He also uses his relationship with Shiro against them. Using Shiro’s bids for him to come back against them by pointing out that he knows Shiro has feelings for him but won’t admit to them because Shiro wants to keep Keith ‘in his shadow’. Shiro would say something like ‘I want my best friend back’ and Keith would force him to say that he actually loves him in front of the paladins. Because it’s true and they were pinning so hard but Shiro thought taking the next step would complicate things for them and voltron so he really tried to maintain the status quo with their relationship and Keith is tired of it. Forget shame Keiths out to destroy the paladins for personal reasons and because they pose the biggest threat to his new mission. I imagine the paladins would still find Keith’s mom and during their next battle she’d come in to try and stop Keith but instead of sobering him it only fuels his anger toward them due to his unresolved resentment for her leaving him on earth and abandoning him.
Time goes by and developments happen in Honerva’s plan and Allura takes the RED lion (tbh it just seems more fitting I mean really it was her father’s lion why would she take Blue?). On another mission the paladins get captured (because of course they do). Shiro is still very desperate to get Keith back (the same desperation that Keith uses in the Black Paladins episode so you know I’m talking fucking desperate) and Keith at this point has very complicated feelings for Shiro like the mind control only goes so far as to convince him he’s justified but all of his actions reflect actual emotions he would have if he truly felt vengeful or righteous. So when the paladins get captured, he’d get the idea to have sex with Shiro because if he plans to kill voltron he’d morbidly want to know what being with Shiro is like before he kills him. But it’s not entirely one sided. Again Shiro is still holding out hope that he can save Keith. Of course he would much rather their first time be out of love instead of spite but again, desperate. It’s still very manipulative on Keith’s part with how he taunts and coerces. Shiro does consent though because his own feelings are a little more than fucked up about it too.
The paladins escape (because of course they do) and a few weeks pass before their next battle this time it’s the boss fight. Honerva still makes the device she uses to wormhole between realities but instead of the Alteans that she uses to fight voltron it’s Lotor and Keith. Voltron fatally wounds Keith and goes on to kill Lotor and destroy parts of Honerva’s wormhole device but Honerva herself gets away. They bring Keith’s damaged mech back to the castle (yes they still have the castle). He’s not directly wounded but the lost quintessence and oxygen deprivation means he’s barely hanging on but they get him in a pod in time and find out oh shit there’s a second heartbeat!
Cliche I know but shush. Anyway Shiro is wrecked because jesus what an emotional roller coaster having to fight your lover to near death only to find out he’s having your baby like fuck amiright? But Keith lives and is no longer under mind control so he’s understandably devastated to look back on what he did. The paladins (and for sure Allura) are a bit suspicious that Keith’s back to normal (except Shiro… poor bastard). Keith remembers everything and he can’t trust himself either because it’s not like he did all that as Honerva’s drone those were real feelings he may or may not have privately had at one time or another but they were more akin to intrusive thoughts because he has the emotional depth to understand that emotions are more nuanced than that and when he digs deeper he knows he doesn’t really feel that way. Oh and wtf now he’s pregnant, definitely some mixed feelings about that.
Sam Holt still went back to earth and builds the Atlas in time for Voltron and the Atlas to have the final boss fight with Honerva (we’re talking build and finished other than the crystal they need to jumpstart it so it doesn’t take them long to meet up on earth and plan the fight). (And for some added drama Keith is only in say the first trimester so he’s still mostly in fighting shape and he tries to help from the sidelines which freaks out Shiro but Krolia steps in to help so it’s a good bonding moment between her and Keith).
They win against Honerva, Allura lives goddamnit and Shiro and Keith go on to have the baby lol. I also imagine Keith would have a really fast birth for some reason idk something about higher Galra pain tolerance and him being oblivious so by the time he gets to labor and delivery he’s already like fully dilated lmao.
Damn I really wanted to write the full fic when I was thinking about it but now that I’ve finished the thought I’m gonna have to get back in the mood to actually write it…
Hmmm.
#play a drinking game with how many times I use the word because#should I put in a customary ‘don’t like don’t read sign’?#I’m using my own theories on galra reproduction for reasons that probably only make sense to me#this is mostly Keith feels#and#sheith feels#I have more to say on how the other paladins react to all this as well#I hate to make Lotor a villain but if Keith’s a villain Lotor is definitely a villain#fyi Keith actually wants the baby he just feels bad given the circumstances of conception#vld#voltron#keith kogane#takashi shirogane#sheith

Got any Spongebob hot takes? About a season, episode, character, etc?
You know, I'm pretty stuck on this. This has been sitting in my inbox for so long. Its so hard to remember these on the spot. I only remember when I'm talking about other stuff lol brainz werk in mysterious ways lol
But I'll still try!
- slappy is the best thing to ever exist.
- Squidabeth is the best thing to ever exist.
Okay before this turns into a brainrot list. Here's the actual hot takes!
-Nerd spongebob is superior sponge. I know later seasons focus more on him being more babyish/childish. But ehh I miss his more nerdier personality.
- I'm okay with the spinoffs. I get so tired always having to clarify on the spinoffs all the time. Jeez do your own research, I ain't magic or working inside with Nick (I wish) I'm tired. I have my concerns and issues otherwise but like if you want to watch it then do it. If you don't then just don't.
- man why did it take so long for Sandy to interact with the other female characters? Why did it take so long for any of the characters to interact? Its random but I was thinking about this a while ago. I get the show is Spongebob Squarepants. Everything is from his POV. But a lot of the female characters could use a little more development. I want an episode focused on Mrs. Puff outside of boating school. She's into metal. She's already cool. Pls let her become a rock star pls. Or just another Sandy/Karen episode because they're so cute together. Its so weird to think about all of them only begun to interact recently.
- I really want them to bring back Pearl being gifted at math!! So much story potential. I'll be honest, I don't like whenever shows got that stereotypical teenage girl character™ no reason but they get a little annoying if you leave it like that. Pearl was apparently supposed to be more apart of the main cast but didn't get used so often. Come on!! I wanna see her hang out with Squidina!! I really like Squidina.
- there's no such thing as a bad episode with The Flying Dutchman. Never. Even the worst ones are still amusing.
- Dutchy probably doesn't pay child support. I just wanted to say that xD
- there is no way Squishwart is heterosexual
- shows timeline is
- first episode any episode where Perch is orange, any episode where Perch is purple, 2nd movie, 1st movie.
Not a complete time line but ya kno. There's two timelines tho! Same as the first but kamp koral takes place in the beginning, then the patrick show. Then we start at the first episode. Then after that, the 3rd movie takes place between the 2nd and 1st movie.
Hope I didn't lost ya there.
- oh yeah! Perch's skin color probably changed with age. Some fishes change color with maturity! I headcanon orange being earlier, and purple being later.
I know you might point out the fish in Ripped Pants. He doesn't look much like Perch. Looks a lot older so I'm just gonna headcanon that it's Perch's dad.
- Kamp koral was kinda boring. The better episodes are when they focus on side characters or new characters. Idk its just not interesting when they focus it on the main cast. Excluding the one where Squidward and Patrick gets lost in the woods together. That was cute. Though my favorite episode is either the one with young Perch or the night cabin.
- season 1 is elite. It's my favorite season of all time. I could go on and on about what I love about this season but everything about it feels so wholesome yo.
- my favorite season amongst the modern era is probably 10? I know that's fan favorite of the modern era. I'd also say season 12 too. Which is an unpopular season due to the expressions but I find myself revisiting season 12 often. Its weird but fun to go back to every so often.
- a lot of spongebob has been ragged on unfairly. I know I always come for the middle seasons but even they are over hated. Its amusing tho how the middle seasons were so hated in the previous years. Nowadays they get more love because the kids who grew up with them has grown to appreciate them. Now its the modern seasons that get a lot of hate. Often times for just being different.
- ehh classic elites kinda ruin the show for me. I wouldn't say this is a be all end all. I still like the classic era and of course nothing can replace how witty and funny it was. But geez these people take it so seriously that it just sucks the fun out of it. Its fun to express your love for spongebob online but they always gotta rag on it and insult people who don't hate everything that came out after the movie. Its ironic considering I used to be a classic elitist. Every so often when I see them raging online, I'm like "jeez was that me?" It gets so exhausting to hate on the show. I also think its a little weird how they've martyred Hillenburg while also acting like the gods of justice by sending death threats to his colleagues and friends. Ehh they get pretty invasive at times. Its kinda uncomfortable.
- on that note. I also find it annoying how people are like "oh kids today will never know how good spongebob was!" Like the classic era doesn't constantly rerun on tv to this day. Jeez I was too young to even remember the classic era when it first began airing. Yet the classic era was what was on tv most of the time. Its like how adults assume kids don't know what vhs tapes/CDs are just because it isn't as popular as it used to. They don't magically disappear the moment something new comes out.
You know that reminds me, when I was a teen, I used to purposely act like I didn't know what some stuff were just to make adults feel like they're out of touch. "Facebook? what is that?" "Britney Spears? Never heard of her" it's so funny.
- Ngl I keep rewatching the Patrick show just to feel something
- mr. Krab's cheapiness went so out of control. Mans due for a spinoff just to rework his character so he can become tolerable again.
- from reading the spongeBob pitchbible and the mussel beach episode. My only thoughts were "spongebob has two hands, one for Sandy, one for Larry"
- the best episodes of Patrick is when he's being sweetly stupid. He's dumb but he knows and loves his friends. That's like the baseline for Patrick. He'd be terribly hurt if he upset them and he cares about them to the end of the earth. If you make patrick a jerk because he's stupid then you've failed to understand him.
- oh also, I'm pretty sure Bunny and Cecil are Pat's adoptive parents. Pat said in Home Sweet Pineapple that his parents kicked him out. I imagine when he did get kicked out, he wasn't prepared so he probably got adopted by the closest Sea Star family around. Thus the Patrick show was born! I already do find Pat's parents questionable. Like letting their daughter get lost like that, or mental training with a bell that managed to even have spongebob say they screwed Patrick up. Bunny and Cecil seem like healthier parents for pat. Plus he got another sister :)
- another thing, ehh Spongebob's parents and family in general are either questionable to outright awful. Man his uncle sherm really kicked out his own son??? captain blue couldn't listen to spange when he desperately needed help? Also spongebob's parents neither taking him seriously and seem to have their own issues too.
- on the note of poor family figures. I'm certain Mr. Krabs father Victor Krabs abandoned his family. Mr krabs grew up dirt poor with only his mother supporting him. I also assume Mr. Krab's other family is also kinda sucky since he didn't really introduce any of them to Pearl. Probably for a reason. Though his mom in the comics seems to have known about Pearl. She's probably the only krab in the family he really cares about.
- Sandy and Karen SHOULD get together. I don't make the rules 😤 😤
- patchy is good. I don't get why is he so hated. I also really like potty :)
- the 2nd movie is a comfort movie for me.
- they really brought the best music for the ScaredyPants episode. Also I find it kinda funny how they found such a hyper specific band for the show. The Ghastly Ones. A horror surf rock band. It fits too well and I like them enough to listen to their other songs just because.
- Ngl its satisfying when spongebob gets angry/frustrated. You dont see those emotions in him. Its either extreme joy or extreme sadness. It adds an interesting bit of nuance to his character.
And that's it! Or at least the only ones I can think of on the spot so uhh. Here ya go!

Teddy Bear Anon has purposed yet another interesting addition to the Immune AU which gives me plot ideas! In particular, a scene that would really help give past Dream a strong push into his character arc.
I like to image that immune!Dream’s character arc starts with the death of immune!Puffy. Sure, maybe he’s not sad yet, but he feels something for the woman who declared herself his pseudo mother. It’s what helps to crack the shell enough for the rest of the immune gang to start weedling their way into his heart. Immune!Dream after spending enough time watching the group he, starts to realize that yeah, connections to other people isn’t a weakness. It really is a strength. It’s something that takes time for him to come to terms with because Techno seems like a testament to the fact connections are a weakness. He was unbeatable until his horse got kidnapped. His only connection, his only weakness. But then there’s Tommy who seems to represent the complete opposite.
Where Dream represents strength from caring too little, Tommy represents strength from caring far too much. Now I’m a sucker for bamf Tommy, and I like to personally imagine that maybe the Immunes hold out for a year or two before they cave and try to make the portal. So Tommy has what really boils down to a two year training arc on top of already being a child veteran (I like to canonize SMP Earth as well because personal preference and it gives me even more room to make Tommy suffer. SMP Earth being canon? God, so much fucking trauma considering how the others treated him, a 15 year old child, like an adult.) Anyway Dream slowly realizes connections with one another are what kept the remaining Immunes alive, and he tries to force his younger self to understand that. Tries, but doesn’t really get far. Up until what everyone else calls The Fight.
Tommy’s always just kind of screwed around in fights as long as there’s only a threat to him. We know he has a tendency to throw if MCC is any indicator. But then they time travel and maybe they spend some time in the past trying to get the situation sorted and the past’s Dream maybe just kinda does something to Tubbo. Doesn’t even have to be big, it just needs to clock as a threat to Immune!Tommy who’s already lost his Tubbo and refuses to let his younger self go through that. So Tommy goes completely ape shit on the younger Dream. Sure, it’s only been two years for this Tommy. He’s probably, like, 18 or 19 at most. Still a child as far as a lot of people are concerned. He shouldn’t be stronger than Dream or Technoblade, and in the few cross group sparing sessions they’ve had he isn’t. He’s stronger than his younger self but no where near these two demi gods of combat. But then Dream suddenly registers as a threat to Tubbo in Immune!Tommy’s eyes and he makes the mistake of mocking Tommy while he’s at it. He knows that immune!Tommy lost his Tubbo and maybe the past Dream is lashing out slightly or trying to get some kind of foothold in Tommy’s psyche. He isn’t doing anything near what immune!Dream has done, but it’s enough to piss Tommy off. So immune!Tommy challenges Dream to a fight and Dream immediately realizes the mistake he’s made when Tommy starts to destroy him.
Say even Techno’s there for some reason or another and he realizes what’s going down so he tries to calm Tommy down, joining the fight just as Dream is loosing it. The situation quickly turns into the first time Techno’s ever gotten his ass thoroughly kicked by Tommy, leaving everyone spectating baffled (Tommy’s younger self partly included). They’re certain this kid is going on some rampage and none of them can stop him but the moment Dream and Techno are both taken care of (wounded, not killed, the older Tommy is always careful about that. He even throws a splash healing on them with some indifferent kind of disgust that hides the fact he does still care to some extent even hurting as he is.) Tommy immediately just switches focus to outright doting on Tubbo, ignoring any muttered Clingyinnits in favor of ensuring Tubbo is fine. Tubbo is completely find and just as confused, but the point stands and neither Tommy ends up leaving Tubbo’s side for the rest of the day. The younger Tommy, after all, is the only one the older Tommy’s told the full story to regarding the future (even when he couldn’t trust his own family he was always able to trust himself with the secrets that mattered, so he prepares his younger self in case the worst comes to pass.)
The older Dream, immune!Dream, he doesn’t get involved. He sit on the side lines and just kinda laughs, the sound drowned out by Sapnap’s loud encouragements and Sam’s half hearted attempts to get Tommy to stop (he could have stopped Tommy immediately if he’d stepped in. Sam is after all the only person on earth Tommy listens to without hesitation, but Sam lets it happen and pretends he tried.)
Immune!Dream just kinda smirks at his younger self later that night and mentions something about attachments really making you weak. After all, it’s not like the only time Tommy takes a battle seriously is when someone he cares about is in danger. It’s not like Tommy would turn the world into a seared ball for Tubbo, and Tubbo would do the same in return. It’s not like they’ve watched the people they care about temporarily rebuke the Crimson just to give the Immunes those precious extra seconds needed to survive in a fight. Attachments, they’re just a weakness.
The younger Dream doesn’t know how to respond to that. It’s the first time he thinks about his older self maybe being right.
Before I go I wanna leave you with two more ideas for the Immune AU
First up, Wilbur is eight years older than Tommy give or take. Wilbur had Fundy when he was around 16 and Tommy was around 8. Tommy was the best damn uncle he could be and for a while Tommy and Fundy were really stupidly close. They were both apart of the raised by Wilbur club and Wilbur was trying his damn best. Fundy aged/matured (physically and mentally) faster than a regular person for a while. They believed it was because he was a fox hybrid and Wilbur was ready to lose Fundy too soon. When Fundy was equivalent to 18 in human years though his aging process suddenly slowed to a crawl and his tail split into two, at which point the group realized he was actually a kitsune and it was just those first 8 years that passed by quickly (and Wilbur had a lot of questions for the now missing Sally who he’d thought was a salmon hybrid, genuinely, but became exceedingly less sure.) His family knows he’s a kitsune, but Fundy hid it from most of the rest of the server. A good thing considering later events.
Fundy was part of the Immune group for a while and I like to imagine that he and Tommy had a falling out during the Pogtopia era but after the egg started to take over they started bonding again and acting like, well, family. Unfortunately when it came time for them to activate the portal, Fundy ended up getting separated from the group and getting caught. The eggpire didn’t actually know Fundy was fully immune or a kitsune so he just kinda pretended to get infected, using his illusions to make his fur look crimson. I personally like the idea that Fundy at some point managed to get back to the time machine and being a little code wizard manages to get the thing working and yeets himself in. He shows up a little late but after fixing his appearance manages to catch up with the rest of the group.
Fundy is underrated. Tommy being a good uncle is underrated. Sam would absolutely adopt the traumatized fox baby in Eret’s honor. What’s not to love?
The last concept I wanna bring up that I really like is hybrid Tommy. Tanuki would be good since it’s another reason for the Sam Nook bit. Maybe Sam specifically picked Sam Nook since Tom Nook was Tommy’s favorite character on the grounds he was the only representation Tommy had ever gotten and it made the kiddo happy. However, I also personally really like phoenix Tommy and it would make an interesting plot point. Tommy accidentally losing his third life at some point and realizing he’s an immortal creature of fire would have led to him taking a protector role for his new family. He can’t die, but he can burn anything around him, why not send him out to get supplies when the worst the eggpire could do would be capture him. Even then he just literally cannot hear the egg. Which could lead to both some interesting comedic moments and some really good angst if Sam agonizes over his desire to protect Tommy and let him be a child suddenly being at odds with the fact Tommy is literally the best person for the job so to speak. Not to mention Sapnap, who I headcanon as a Blaze hybrid, would be even more attached the moment he found a new fire proof friend to burn forests with him. Regardless of which hybrid type he is, I could see him hiding it from everyone except for Fundy when he was a child and only ever admitting it later to the other Immunes once they become a found family.
Personally I like the idea of Tommy being part tanuki hybrid and part phoenix hybrid, but is that too mary sue? Is it just a little bit too cheesy to have him be both? I will never not try to incorporate phoenix Tommy into my fics but also tanuki Tommy would be such a mood for this au.
Like image Tommy just builds a den that’s in reality a vault/panic room a la Techno and he hides it under Church Prime since that is The Safe Spot in Tommy’s mind.
