if you like crafting and also free things, might i suggest the antique pattern library?
it’s a not for profit that’s gathering books, patterns, and other materials related to crafting that are out of copyright (or getting permission from copyright holders in some cases) in order to share them online. they scan items, clean them up, then make everything available for free!
free things are great, especially when you’re just starting to get into something. like oh, i’m supposed to spend money on this hobby i just picked up 20 minutes ago???
the first time i ended up on the site, i seriously spent hours just trawling through everything. there’s the usual suspects like knitting, crochet, embroidery, but there’s also woodwork, calligraphy, and books on things like how to mount and frame pictures. with cross stitch patterns, they also make modern charts with the dmc colour codes available.
links to their webbed site and instagram:

behold, a glorious cat cross stitch pattern (link goes to antique pattern library page):

So excited to use this gorgeous yarn from Crow and Crescent! This is my first time buying hand dyed yarn like this as a kind of late birthday gift to myself. Caked by hand (good gods i wish i had a swift and winder, my shoulder hurts). This colorway is called Burial Ground. 🖤💚

Jester beanie! 🤡
This one was very fun. I modified the pattern slightly for the colors and also tapered the ears down to a finer point.

still got a good bit of this yarn left.

My first knitting project ever is complete! There were definitely some mishaps in the first eyelet rows and the top ended up a bit loose, but I'm still very happy with it. I learned a lot in this process, it was definitely the most cerebral pattern I've followed thus far.

What I did during my shift today!
I'm refering to this as my lichen throw because of the colors. It is. very small lol. But I was gifted this beautiful colorway by a friend and don't currently intend on buying more. It will look lovely draped over my desk chair!

Y'aaaallllll I learned how to knit this week and I realized after several more rows that I randomly just started purling in the middle of a knit row lol. I will not be making an attempt to fix it.

Finally finished with the lichen top! Well, it had been 'finished' in a project bag for months until I had somewhere I wanted to wear it to, so I finally weaved in the last few ends.
This was a labor of love and an off and on project for a while. So happy to call it done.
The base pattern is the Willow Top by PassioKnit Kelsie, there's a free tutorial on youtube!
The base dye was made with Pisolithus arhizus mushrooms and overdyed with some Rit mixes, then embroidered with lichen motifs!! Love this top so much.

Hey i’m a fashion design student so i have tons and tons of pdfs and docs with basic sewing techniques, pattern how-tos, and resources for fabric and trims. I’ve compiled it all into a shareable folder for anyone who wants to look into sewing and making their own clothing. I’ll be adding to this folder whenever i come across new resources
