A plan executed imperfectly now is better than a plan executed meticulously never- This is one of the key takeaways from Elizabeth Gilbert’s masterpiece on CREATIVE LIVING. In Big Magic, she approaches this concept of artistic imagination with vivid details. 🌈 Empowered with inspirational encounters from her own life and other great legends, she weaves the idea of looking at our creative abilities from a larger perspective beyond simple monetary gains or worldly possessions. If you’re a writer or anyone from an artistic profession (anything which involves creativity) and have wondered about burdening your passion to earn a living for you, this book will prove to be an EYE-opener. ✴️It will teach you how you can rise above the ordinary through the POWER of belief and consciousness. ✴️It will show you why it is essential to live through your passion and not the other way around. ✴️It will inspire you to be able to inspire yourself. To everyone who has ever been curious about their ‘purpose in life’, this is a MUST READ for you. . . . . . . .. . . . . . . . . . . . #readinglover #avidreader #readingrecommendations #bookrecs #bookrec #bookcrazy #ilovereadingbooks #iloveread #readandlearn #readinghabit #bookpeople #readingforpleasure #loveforreading #readingtips #newbookstagram #bookcharacter https://www.instagram.com/p/CC1C8Y6scGa/?igshid=yfbt1aq1i7wj

WHY DID I BECOME A WRITER??? No, it’s NOT money or fame. Presently, I get that question a lot and I always give a simple answer, ‘Because I like storytelling and that’s a skill I have.’ However, it’s not that simple. Since years I have struggled with the thought of becoming a writer. I would read, read and read and then, swish up something of my own. It had become a monotonous pattern. I wrote my first book in 9th standard (unpublished). I still remember people laughing in my face when I said it out aloud. Now that is a story for another post, but the point I am trying to make is this; I was NEVER confident in my writing. NEVER… Until I found my WHY POWER! Once I paused my fast-paced thoughts of ‘achieving something’ in life, I could breathe and analyse my reasons for wanting to write stories. I am not going to be a monk and preach that I write for happiness only without any monetary goal. This is a practical world and hence, I wish to earn a living from my work too. But that’s NOT my PRIMARY goal. If my aim had solely been money, I could have put my BTech degree to some use and got a 9-5 in the corporate world. But no, I found my WHY POWER to be a different one. I had gained (still gaining) a UNIQUE perspective by reading and consuming stories, so much so that I wanted to express each new-found idea in an even more unique way than it had already been presented. I want people to read my work and live in those stories the way I have lived through them. And so, that clear VOICE OF REASON helps me pull myself up whenever I feel dejected in my writing journey. It is a magnetic element to add to your mindset and hence, I urge you to pause and think! (Disclaimer- ‘why power’ is a term I have borrowed from Sadia Badiea) Well then, fellow writers, WHAT do you think is YOUR why power? He wore a blue round-neck shirt that had tiny square buttons. Around his neck were his tangled earphones indicating that he had been listening to music a while ago. His hair, I saw, was tousled up as if he hadn’t combed clean after a long nap. And his eyes, quite thin, glaring out of his black square shaped spectacles and his brow, creased with lines as if concentrating on something immensely important. I heard the sound of cannons shooting and looked down at the table where his hands, lay firmly, holding his cell phone in which he was ostensibly playing clash of clans. His thick pale lips murmured, ‘Come on, Barbarians’. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . #writersblog #amwritingfiction #writinggoals #newwriter #writingadvice #writingpromptsdaily #writingprompts #writingpromptsandtips #fictionwriters #pennedthoughts #storywriting #creativewritingprompts #bookpeople #writerspocket #newbookstagram #novelwriting https://www.instagram.com/p/CCOm1OPs-ym/?igshid=1d2dam56vipxz

It’s 1964 & a WHITE girl finds her eternal home with four BLACK women. This book needs to be read again, and AGAIN. In present times, we have raised our voice and uttered our loud cries. But have you ever been amidst a helpless racial chaos? The Secret Life of Bees follows the story of a 14-year-old white girl, Lily, who dares to raise her voice when her black servant lady, Rosaleen, is brutally assaulted for a petty issue. Unlike the present day, all hell breaks loose as Lily and Rosaleen find themselves on the run from the cops. Eventually, they take refuge in the house of three black sisters. As young Lily gets accustomed to her new life as an outlaw and a beekeeper apprentice, she is bombarded with life lessons one after the other all the while battling with past demons of her troubled childhood. With powerfully vivid characters and an emotionally intriguing plot, The Secret Life of Bees is a MUST-READ. Here’s my favorite excerpt from the book – ‘Up until then I’d thought that white people and colored people getting along was the big aim, but after that I decided everybody being colorless together was a better plan.’ This is one of the best books I have read in recent times and I cannot urge you more to pick it up and drown in the ocean of bitter honey and the secret life of BEES! Happy Reading! ❤️ Comment below if you’ve read this book or if you’re planning to read it. Arjun Saluja from ZNMD is a character we all could relate to at some point or the other. He is suave, sexy and a huge bundle of mess! So, let’s analyse Arjun’s character from a writer’s perspective.✍️ Here’s a summary of what the audience initially finds out about him- 🔸he lives in a wonderful apartment 🔸owns a Ferrari 🔸has an exceptionally high-paying job And here are some questions which arise in their minds-🤔 ➡️why does he live alone? ➡️why doesn’t he give time to people? ➡️why does he run after money? The trick with this character was to make him relatable to the audience. Initially showcasing how amazing his life appears from a bird’s view; ✔️his perfect job with a hefty pay cheque and his ability to gain all materialistic possessions he desires. And then, once the plot proceeds... ✖️ the façade is peeled off layer by layer to bring out the hollow truth of his life. This type of character peeling pops out the essence of the character’s internal struggle which readers don’t realize at first. Once they feel accustomed to the character’s traits, it becomes thrilling to know their backstory and understand why they are the way they are. I have tried to decode it in this detailed breakdown of Arjun’s character.💯 Swipe to read through my analysis and share your views in comments below👇 Also, tell me which other movie or book characters would you want me to analyse? I thought I can write WITHOUT reading. Yes, I was stupid. 😑 But I am sure every writer crosses that phase, ‘Oh, I am a writer. What am I doing wasting so much time reading a novel when I am supposed to write one?' Once I identified myself as a writer, I began blaming myself for reading books. And that was my BIGGEST mistake. 🥶 In my mind, I would be wasting time which could have been utilized in writing a short story, if not something longer. Subsequently, I STOPPED reading and I pushed myself away from books in order to write. But did that help? Hell NO. 🤯 I would stare at a blank screen, hours at a stretch, and blame myself again. Both; my BTech degree and habit of procrastination, acted like the perfect cherries on top of the bitter cake. 🔝 I enrolled in so many writing courses online to learn the craft and yes, I did learn quite a lot. But the theoretical knowledge got muddled up so much in my head that I couldn’t stand the thought of enrolling in another course. Until I read ‘Big Magic’ by Elizabeth Gilbert. ❤️ I will talk more about it in my next week’s recommendation post but in short, it changed the way I looked at my craft. I realized how desperately wrong I was to have distanced myself from books and that is exactly when I came up with the 100 books a year challenge… (link to which is in bio🔗) And the AMAZING idea of posting my writing exercises here. If you’re an aspiring writer and a curious beginner, I urge you to join me on this quest of finding the hidden storyteller inside us all. Follow me to learn the craft; as I teach it through books and movies. And don’t feel shy in putting your pieces in the comments. In the end, it’s all going to be worth the effort.💫 . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . #writingcoach #aspiringauthor #authorgram #newwritersclub #newwriters #storytellingcoach #writingexercise #storywriting #newauthors #writers_together #writingprocess #youngwriters #authorcommunity #fictionwriters #fictionwriting # fictionkin https://www.instagram.com/p/CB0mzpcJNz3/?igshid=19ne2a2inwxkj

I had wanted to get my hands on this one since the time I first heard of it... that was around 2 years ago, but it wasn't until this January that I picked it up in JLF 2020. Not surprisingly enough, I desired to devour the quirky orange title which had gotten to me like it had to anybody else. I tried reading it many times in past three months but something or the other always came up and I had to pick up another book in between. However, now when I have finally dug my nails into the cover and am halfway through it, I must say it has been an eye-opening read. I learnt so many little things we all have been doing and will continue to do so subconsciously and how we can't really change it, yet accept it. This book is teaching me a new way of looking at things; and no, I don't mean the 'positive thinking' crap. It's way over that, so much so that I can't explain in a limited word count set-up. If you've ever been at a cross-road or if you're someone who gets into philosophical dilemmas quite often, I think this is a must read. With only twenty pages left, I will be finishing this one tonight. Haven't read anything much this month, let's see how many more books I can gobble up next week 😉 And hey, book buddies, tell me what you have been reading? 📖 https://www.instagram.com/p/CBqXIblJiyg/?igshid=va62ds2fyngd

HOW TO BECOME A WRITER?🖋️ That’s a question I have been asked over and over again. So, that’s what I am going to talk about on this page from now on. However, it doesn’t mean you won’t get the usual rantings & chit chat ‘cause hell with all, it’s a part of ‘author ball’ 💃 (wink wink) Also, you don’t have to be so much of a ‘wordy’ nerd to enjoy the content I will be posting here… because- Lo and behold 🤓, I have decided to teach the art of STORYTELLING to the laymen- the ones who know no jargon of the craft. And even if you don’t want to be a writer, how bored can you really be- talking BOOKS, discussing MOVIES and more than anything, trying to convert yourself into a UNICORN! 🦄 Well, at least some of that. So, what all can you expect? 🙈 Apart from my usual chatter-box self, you will now be bombarded with writing tips, reading tricks, book recommendations, short stories, random write-ups, analysis of characters and scenes from iconic books and movies, daily writing prompts and some grammar nazi shenanigans. Can’t wait to begin the fun! & Oh, also, my BLOG- Let’s Book Up is up and running. 🥳 HURRAY there! https://www.instagram.com/p/CBm-UUipN8g/?igshid=158wfr9xl5kk
