23. Introducing an S/O to family for the first time

God, this feels like the only thing I can actually post. XD

“Do you really think this is a good idea?” Asked Benjamin, as he trudged alongside Reeve through the snow. His new winterboots, a gift from his dad, scrunching every time he stepped into the freshly fallen snow, while his hands were stuffed into the old pilot jacket he ‘borrowed’ from Cid. 

He never disliked the cold, finding it calming and refreshing, but he could see how much Reeve was shaking, despite the warm and comfortable looking clothes the commissioner was wearing. Making the youngest son of the Valentine household (as of now) worry even more. 

“We could always turn around and go to one of those small markets where they sell trinkets and whatnots for this holiday."

“And miss out on this?” Asked Reeve, as he pulled out one of his hands from inside his coat pockets and gestured around the rubble that once was Midgard’s Sector 5. “Also, ‘this kind of holiday’? Don’t tell me you’re also bad with remembering the names of certain special occasions celebrated by all.”

“Why should I remember a day I have never truly celebrated?” Asked Benjamin in return. “And before you say something along the lines of ‘missing out’, don’t.”

“You’re an even bigger workaholic than me…” Sighed Reeve, before smiling and carefully pulling Benjamin’s facemask down to press a soft kiss onto his lips. Smiling, as soon as he saw how flushed the other got. “

“I-idiot!” Was all Benjamin could stutter, as he quickly fixed his mask. Glaring at the laughing man and wondering why he had to fall for a man like that. But alas, he wouldn’t want it any other way. 

Their walk was quiet after that. The only thing ringing through the destroyed sector was the sound of crunching snow, and animals that have come to reclaim the once bustling streets and houses. It was peaceful, despite the wandering souls Benjamin could see from the corner of his eyes, and who he didn’t mention to the other. Reeve didn’t need to know that there were still people trapped in the world he created. Not when he had to witness its destruction by Shinra, Avalanche and the Meteor. It would be unfair to him. And so, Benjamin only intertwined their arms and rested his head on the slightly taller man’s shoulder, as they kept on walking through the twisted winter wonderland. 

Never stopping, until they made it to a house that was in better condition than most. One with a small garden that, despite everything, still had some flowers growing on top of a small pile of earth. 

The second they made it through the garden gate, Reeve didn’t waste any time to kneel beside the small, untouched, spot of earth. “I’m sorry for not coming sooner, Ma.” He whispered, as he placed a small figure of a cat on top of the pile. “But there was… a lot to take care of… and then… I met someone.” 

Benjamin didn’t know how he should feel about this, nor if he should mention that he could see the ghost of a woman and man hovering next to Reeve. But he decided not to. It wasn’t time for that, instead, he simply kneeled down next to Reeve and lowered his head in respect. 

“It’s an honor to meet you.”

I already said Cloud x Tifa in the last one. Fuck.

I guess if I had to name another one, it would be like anything that involves Yuffie? Mostly because she’s a kid and shouldn’t think about dating anyone above her age range.

Also, depending on how the story is written, Cloud x Sephiroth. Don’t get me wrong! If the story is intriguing and interesting, I won’t mind the pairing, I’ll even like it, but I wouldn’t ship them with their in-game dynamic. Remake Sephiroth is kind of okay, but Rebirth Sephiroth makes me so uncomfortable. That guy gives me the creeps and makes me want to stab him repeatedly. And not in a good way.

💖: What is your biggest unpopular opinion about the series?

I already said my biggest one in the last post, but I can do a minor one here.

Rufus isn’t hot. I don’t see the appeal in him, and honestly, I don’t even want to try and see it. Sure, you can like him as much as you want, but I’ll never like him. Same goes for Reno and Sephiroth.

They don’t strike that chord in me. Reno’s annoying, and Sephiroth is just… I don’t know. He’s just a guy, I guess.

Cloud x Tifa

And not for the reasons you think of when you talk about this ship. I can see the appeal and I won’t get on the fence about how Cloud shouldn’t be with her, because, well, at the end of the day, people ship what they want to ship.

I don’t like them, because of the way she uses their “friendship” as a tool to get Cloud to do the things she wants him to do.

I’m going to be honest and say that I didn’t play the original. All my knowledge comes from Remake, Rebirth, and the little bits and pieces I didn’t skip in Ever Crisis. And from what I’ve seen, she’s an awful “friend” from the get-go. Not only does she rope Cloud into the shit Avalanche does, but she also lies to him about getting paid. He is forced do this whole side-quest where he follows her Around Sector 7 to help install those water filters and gets antagonised by every fucking person.

And instead of being like “Please stop being like that to Cloud. He’s going through things” she just tells him to be nice. Like, girl, they are assholes to him, and he just reacts accordingly. There’s a saying in my country that, translated, is like “The way you scream into the woods, the same way it comes back out”. Meaning, if you’re met with people who are assholes to you, they will get the same kind of treatment from you.

Cloud’s standoffish and cold, because he’s met with scrutiny. And sure, the people might be vary of him, because he’s wearing a SOLDIER uniform and they very much care about Tifa, but it’s still rude of them. And Tifa’s not helping either. On the contrary, she’s making everything worse by telling Cloud to be “Nice” and making him out to look like an asshole.

And the worst of it all, Cloud doesn’t even get paid accordingly. He should have charged extra for every second he spends following his “friend” on their shit fuck side-quest.

Can I even say Reeve, because there are enough people who share that opinion?

If not, I’m going to go with the Bellhop from the Haunted Hotel and Chaos. Other than that, everyone else is pretty much mainstream.

Edit: I'm adding Broden, because he's also hot!

Again, I am not as well versed in, well, basically everything, but if I must go off from things I have learned from fandom osmosis, it seems to be Genesis?  Like, sure, he killed a lot of people, but so has everyone. Not even Avalanche can wash their hands from all the lives they have ruined.

Fucking... I’ll go with Tifa again. Mostly because of the reasons I have already given in the first question. Like, taking advantage of a “friend” while they’re going through some shit and then not giving them any kind of safe place to get their shit together is a very shitty thing to do.

Sure, I can see why she did it but come on. She hasn’t seen Cloud in a while, and the first thing she does is put him in a group with an asshat with a gun who keeps on being an asshole to him.

Some of the clothing choices in the game are terrible, I would change them if I could.

If I had to give some examples, it would be like this:

Rosso -> Give. That. Woman. Better. Pants!

Shalua -> If she must wear a skirt, give her a better one.

Yufie -> That’s a fucking teenager. Give her better pants and a shirt.

Weiss -> Give that man a shirt! I know his abbs are nice and all, but he’s gonna get cold! (Don’t come at me! This is the big sister/mom-friend in me talking!)

Sephiroth -> Same reasons as Weiss.

Cloud -> That SOLDIERs uniform looks stupid on him. Either give him better gear or put him back into his Trooper uniform. At least that would give him some form of better protection.

Haunted Hotel Bellhop x Reeve. Fight me on that, I dare you.

This was just a matter of time, let's be honest.

I'm kind of mad that the programm I used washed out the colours, but I'm too lazy to fix that. Being in the middle of cutting this and having my programm crash is enough of a bother to me. I'm too tired to do more.

Either way, compilation of my favourite side character. I love this guy so fucking much.

I love how he's chill with Barett pointing a gun at his face, but the Turks and Palmer make him nervous.
