Reposted from @_savagekatt Here’s some selfies...for the first time in a long time. Haven’t been posting many of these or taking any, really. This is primarily because of how I view my body and the issues I’ve had with gaining mass. Even at my smallest (90lbs), the perception of my body was the same as it is now, 70lbs heavier. That’s body dysmorphia for you. This is the most I’ve ever weighed and those who know me know that I’ve moved beyond equating worth with that number. Less isn’t better. It’s not more valuable and it doesn’t mean anything about your value as an individual. Doesn’t mean it quit being a mind-fuck. I chose a sport that makes caloric intake a direct reflection of performance and results for a reason. For me it is the only way to move beyond the idea that I need to be less for society to accept me, and for me to accept myself. Right now I am weighing in around 160lbs at 5 feet tall. According to the CDC’s bullshit BMI chart that makes me obese. Of course that doesn’t take into account body composition, which is a huge factor. But still...it’s a mind-fuck. So, I’m making the choice today to look at myself and see my strength instead of worrying about superficial bullshit. I’m going to try out this weight class at my next meet and achieve a higher rank than I have in any other class. International Elite. Then slowly back to 148 for the sake of a more competitive edge.
