Leigh Bardugo really created such an unemotional yet dramatic character that we can’t help but obsess about every single thing he does

Jesper pretending to be a lawyer to get Kaz out of legal troubles in court if Kaz ever slips up (let’s be honest, probably never), Jesper doing minimum research and making impromptu arguments like when he was presenting on Zemeni oil in Crooked Kingdom
the court session ends abruptly when Jesper accidentally defends the other size (met with Kaz’s glare and a promise seen in his eyes to get Jesper back later) and Wylan has to throw a flash bomb in the court as a distraction so they can run away

Six Of Crows Playing Sports
Inej: figure skating, gymnastics, synchronized swimming, anything artistic that requires flexibility and intense strength would be perfect for her and she’d do amazing, odd thought but she would be a great wrestler despite her size simply because of how well she fights and maneuvers around people
Kaz: i literally can’t think of one, comment what you think would be best
Matthias: 100% football because of his size and strength, maybe even wrestling too
Nina: the first one that came to mind is rugby? she’s very competitive and can do well in football as well, i think she’d do well in any sport because she’d put in a ton of effort, imagine her and matthias on competing football teams
Jesper: for some reason I think he’d be perfect for hockey (farmer’s son, has the strength too), but imagine him as an archer because of his perfect aim, or a swimmer would be cool too!
Wylan: something “posh” like tennis but he’s intense and amazing at it because he was trained by a tutor as a kid
Kuwei: watching and cheering Jesper on while he plays hockey, idk i think Kuwei could do soccer well

“But even as she gave thanks, she knew that the rain was not enough. She wanted a storm – thunder, wind, a deluge. She wanted it to crash through Ketterdam’s pleasure houses, lifting roofs and tearing doors off their hinges. She wanted it to raise the seas, take hold of every slaving ship, shatter their masts, and smash their hulls against unforgiving shores. I want to call that storm, she thought.”
- Leigh Bardugo’s SIx of Crows duology

Parallel between Six of Crows (Kanej) and Safety Net by Ariana Grande ft. Ty Dolla $ign
[Spoilers for Six of Crows and Crooked Kingdom!]
Safety Net, the title of Ariana Grande’s new song, reminded me immediately of Kanej from Six of Crows! When Kaz insists on Inej using a safety net in Crooked Kingdom because “[he] couldn’t bare to watch [her] fall”, it reveals the growing feelings and concern for Inej’s safety, especially after she was almost killed in Six of Crows and then kidnapped by Van Eck in Crooked Kingdom.
Taking a look at the lyrics of the song:
“You're making me forget my past
Never thought I'd feel like that again
I came to peace with my path
Now you got me off track”
I couldn’t believe this, since it almost exactly describes the way Kaz feels about Inej and how he’s willing to change and move over his past and traumas for her. He feels something he hasn’t felt before as well.
The next lines go:
“I've never been this scared before
Feelings I just can't ignore
Don't know if I should fight or fly
But I don't mind”
Kaz knows that his feelings are weakness, and he hates it. He tried to fight it, seen when he thinks that he’d be rid of “this distraction” in reference to Inej stating that she would leave after she is freed and gets her share of money. He also tries to “fly”, seen when in the Shadow and Bone Netflix show he immediately departs from the table when he accidentally lets it slip that he promised the club to Tante Heleen in order to get Inej to leave for the mission to kidnap Alina.
He eventually comes to terms with his feelings in the end of Crooked Kingdom and further seen in the King of Scars duology (which I’m so so glad for).
The following song lyrics:
“Tripping, falling with no safety net
Boy, it must be something that you said Is it real this time or is it in my head?
Got me tripping, falling with no safety net”
This part doesn’t exactly match up, but I think of this from Inej’s perspective. She’s perplexed in the beginning about what Kaz thinks of her and what’s going on between them, especially since Kaz barely shows much emotion or directly conveys his thoughts (never!!).
She knows she doesn’t need the safety net in Crooked Kingdom even after Kaz insisting, since she’s confident in her skill and her inability to fall. However, with the topic of feelings, that’s a different field ;)
This is my first post, and I really wanted to bring to light some parallels that I noticed, so let me know how I did!!
