The 6min Sri Lanka Tuk Tuk experience
Here is a short compilation of some of the many Tuk Tuk rides we took in Sri Lanka. The Tuk Tuk is a fun and cheap way to get around the towns and villages of the island and give you a chance to take in the beautiful scenery open-air. However, at times, they are not for the faint hearted especially when you find out that in Sri Lanka, right of way is determined by who has the bigger vehicle! This video should give you a good impression of the good, the bad and the terrifying:)

Anuradhapura is one of the ancient capitals of Sri Lanka, famous for its well-preserved ruins of an ancient Sinhala civilization. It was the third capital of the kingdom of Rajarata, following the kingdoms of Tambapanni and Upatissa Nuwara.
We hired some bikes and spent a day taking in the sites. This video is a brief overview of some of the highlights.

Visiting the elephants at Kaudulla National Park, Sri Lanka
This short video gives you an overview of what to expect when visiting the Kaudulla National Park, Sri Lanka.  Kaudulla National Park is near Dambulla in the Matale District, Central Province of Sri Lanka. This was a great opportunity to see elephants in their natural habitat in a beautiful national park setting. Visiting the park is a great way to support the conservation programme which is vital in a country where tourism can lead to the mistreatment of elephants. There are also many other animals and birds in the park which can be difficult to see, but if you are there for the elephants, you won’t be disappointed.

A stroll around the Dambulla Royal Cave Temple
Dambulla cave temple also known as the Golden Temple of Dambulla is a World Heritage Site in Sri Lanka, situated in the central part of the country. Dambulla is the largest and best-preserved cave temple complex in Sri Lanka. This site is easy to get to and well worth a visit. The caves carved out of solid rock are impressive as is the view from the top. You’ll also pass many wild monkeys so keep an eye on your lunch:)

A hike up Ella Rock, Sri Lanka
The most famous hike in the Ella region of Sri Lanka, Ella Rock is well worth a it. The hike includes a walk along the train line through farming land, through lush tea plantations and through a forest. The views at the top are some of the most impressive of all of our visit to Sri Lanka. Going up is quite steep at times and it will take around 2hrs so be prepared with plenty of water and the earlier you set out the better to avoid the midday sun. Also, there are plenty of great blogs about this walk and we recommend doing your route research first as the locals tried to push us down an alternative route which other tourists informed us that it was a tourist trap where you get lost and then need to pay a guide (who magically appears) to find you way.

Breathtaking Pathirakali Amman Hindu Temple - Trincomalee, Sri Lanka
Pathirakali Amman Temple, Pathirakali Ambal Kovil or the Kali Kovil is a Hindu temple dedicated to the goddess Bhadrakali, a form of the goddess Kali Amman in Trincomalee, Eastern Province, Sri Lanka. The colours are incredibly vibrant and the detail is breathtaking. This temple is one of the more beautiful temples we saw in the whole of Sri Lanka and once you’ve seen inside you will know why. The combination of different and at times bizarre sculptures feels like something from a dream and you will find yourself starring at the ceiling for quite some time taking it all in.

Up and down Sigiriya (Lion Rock), Sri Lanka in 6 mins
Sigiriya or Sinhagiri is an ancient rock fortress located in the the Central Province of Sri Lanka. This truly unique site is a must see for anyone visiting the area. There are over 1,200 steps to the top which is a challenge but the climb is broken up with walkways and viewing areas. It’s also a kid friendly trip as we passed various local schools making the climb. The trip to the top takes approx. 45mins. There are also many wild monkeys on the route and more at the top which I’ve included in a segment of this video.🐒
