I cut down and then stopped drinking alcohol at some point. Not 100% sure when, but I’m certainly enjoying the lack of hangovers, better sleep and additional money in my pocket. I’ve moved over to alcohol free beers recently, but there just isn’t the variety to get me excited. It has taken a lot longer than expected and a lots nagging/support from friends and clients, but I’ve finally managed to get my first product printed (thanks to my very patient printers for allowing me to try every combination of paper, ink and file type) There will be a limited number of these backgrounds available from my website which will go live next week. By May it will also be available in a selection of cool camera shops for those who prefer to go and see the physical item. . I’ve gone for a mid blue for my first background as it pretty much goes with everything and it’s a super versatile background for any photographer or blogger. . The backdrops are printed on a carefully selected paper and ink combination at 35mm camera aspect ratio to allow you to get the most out of the backdrop. They are created with Zeiss optics and super high res sensors so they can be used with any camera including medium format sensors without a loss of quality between the subject and background. I’ve shot on the same model of camera for about ten years. But on Friday I found a camera and lens that I had wanted to buy going for a ridiculous price. So I snapped them up. Up until the back end of last year I hadn’t purchased any camera kit since I started out, but my clients needs have changed and some of my gear is on its last legs so I’ve had to upgrade a few items. . I’ve been a bit on the backfoot for the last few years. Often because my aims and deadlines are just too ambitious, but also because I’ve been off the boils a few times during that period and if I’m honest, I’ve been lazy. With my 33rd birthday on the horizon there are a few things I want to achieve. And they are all coming together pretty well, if not a little frantically. I’ve almost learnt to drive (I know, I should have done this years ago) my online shop is nearly ready and my archive should be submitted by mid March. The big one though is having my studio near completion. There may be a drinks thing once it’s ready or some sort of fun photoshoot for everyone. . This studio has been a long and difficult process, I moved in during 2016 with some friends and since then it has changed a lot. I now have offices, a kitchen, workbench. Prop storage and finally some big heating and air conditioning. Some space is freeing up next door soon and all of the shelving will be moving from the studio and offices into it. This will free up space in the office for one more desk as well as a product photography set up and a natural light set up to be in place 24/7 Apart from that, I have some new lights and sockets being fitted in two weeks time and the the ceiling being properly painted. Once that’s all done I feel like the place will be finally ready. Which will be a great relief, it’s been a cause of a lot of sleepless nights and also a very expensive thing to set up.
