Skip Google for Research
As Google has worked to overtake the internet, its search algorithm has not just gotten worse.  It has been designed to prioritize advertisers and popular pages often times excluding pages and content that better matches your search terms
As a writer in need of information for my stories, I find this unacceptable.  As a proponent of availability of information so the populace can actually educate itself, it is unforgivable.
Below is a concise list of useful research sites compiled by Edward Clark over on Facebook. I was familiar with some, but not all of these.
Google is so powerful that it “hides” other search systems from us. We just don’t know the existence of most of them. Meanwhile, there are still a huge number of excellent searchers in the world who specialize in books, science, other smart information. Keep a list of sites you never heard of.
www.refseek.com - Academic Resource Search. More than a billion sources: encyclopedia, monographies, magazines.
www.worldcat.org - a search for the contents of 20 thousand worldwide libraries. Find out where lies the nearest rare book you need.
https://link.springer.com - access to more than 10 million scientific documents: books, articles, research protocols.
www.bioline.org.br is a library of scientific bioscience journals published in developing countries.
http://repec.org - volunteers from 102 countries have collected almost 4 million publications on economics and related science.
www.science.gov is an American state search engine on 2200+ scientific sites. More than 200 million articles are indexed.
www.pdfdrive.com is the largest website for free download of books in PDF format. Claiming over 225 million names.
www.base-search.net is one of the most powerful researches on academic studies texts. More than 100 million scientific documents, 70% of them are free

One of the best writing advice I have gotten in all the months I have been writing is "if you can't go anywhere from a sentence, the problem isn't in you, it's in the last sentence." and I'm mad because it works so well and barely anyone talks about it. If you're stuck at a line, go back. Backspace those last two lines and write it from another angle or take it to some other route. You're stuck because you thought up to that exact sentence and nothing after that. Well, delete that sentence, make your brain think because the dead end is gone. It has worked wonders for me for so long it's unreal

Did I daydream this, or was there a website for writers with like. A ridiculous quantity of descriptive aid. Like I remember clicking on " inside a cinema " or something like that. Then, BAM. Here's a list of smell and sounds. I can't remember it for the life of me, but if someone else can, help a bitch out <3

One foot in my Grave - A poem about being a Trans man in the closet (irl)
TW: Religious themes, Gender Dysphoria (maybe)
The little girl that I couldn’t kill stares at me over an open casket. Her yellow dress, the one with the lemons,  is decorated with mud from the grave I laid her in to sleep with one eye open - not quite dead but not really alive.    I share my past with her but she’s not my future: We’ve got one foot in my grave, dancing between being known and being safe.  She stands, one foot in my grave but frightfully alive, kept alive by judgemental eyes and the fear in my stomach. So she lives on, I hold on to her. I sometimes wonder if God makes mistakes or if I’m broken by design. Maybe God really does do everything for a reason; maybe they’re just bad reasons.  Maybe, I was made to live with one foot in my grave by design for cruel entertainment. Maybe, I was designed for the  unwanted tango between the man that I am and the girl I should be. Maybe, God keeps the girl in the lemon dress alive to keep my foot in my grave,  only to trip me when she goes, so that I inevitably go too.  Two birds with one stone; two people with  only one tomb.
A stone with her name, but a hole with my body.

Was feeling bad about managing to write no more than maybe 600-800 words a day for most of December, thinking "if I went through the year like this, I wouldn't get anywhere"
then I did the math and realised ...
800 words a day get me to almost 300K words a year. Holy crap. Even 600 will get me to 220K. That is so many words.
You're doing fine. I'm doing fine.
Not every month needs to be Nanowrimo. You're getting there.

Hi! I'm an autistic person writing a book with an almost exclusively neuro-divergent cast of characters. I understand that my experience of my autism may not be exclusive or representative to all autistic experiences and that I have no experience whatsoever of ADHD. This form will hopefully allow me to create a more accurate cast of characters and stories.
You do not need a diagnosis to take part in this form. Link below:

asexual activism is PART of sex positivity. education about asexuality is part of sex education. speaking openly about sex, defying repressive sexual norms, and encouraging people to be comfortable with and enjoy their "unconventional" sexual lives all needs to include the messaging that not wanting sex is fine and that saying "no" every time is not only acceptable but good if that's what you really want. asexuality is not the opponent of sex positivity, it's another arm of it.

Althea: You can't keep deflecting by making jokes about how hot you are.
Chae-Yeong, sobbing: it's not a joke.
Chae-Yeong: I'm a legit snack

Old Enough
Tumblr media
I’m not comfortable in my skin.  I don’t think I’ve been growing long enough,  to have my face look this old. I don’t recognise my face. It's much older than when I last checked.  I shouldn’t be old enough to be thinking about life. About next steps, or jobs.   How do I tell if I’m as old as the year says I am? How do I get back the years I don’t remember?
.
.
.
Image from Pinterest. I don't know if this is good enough but it was fuelled by feelings so that still makes it art, right?
