"Oh my God," House explodes on a quiet Wednesday night when Wilson scrubs the dishes and he's getting beer from the fridge, eagerly waiting for him to finish and to start watching the L Word. "You're marrying me."

"What a romantic way to propose," Wilson stops washing the dishes. His big brown eyes are wide, like he's a deer caught in the headlights. Of course.

"You are," House gets up from the couch. "We've been fucking for a week and now you're already acting like you're my husband, taking care of me, behaving like I'm one of your wives!"

Which can only mean that cheating and divorce lurk around the corner already and House can't have that. He just got them.

"What's so different from before?" Wilson retorts like there isn't a lit candle on the table.

Not much, House has to admit. Which can only mean one thing.

"We've already been married. For years." House frowns. "You know that's illegal, right? Having two spouses?"

Wilson gives him a lopsided smile and points at the Vicodin bottle next to House. "Because you care so much about the law."

"When it suits me!" House shrugs.

Wilson walks over and cups his cheeks. He's way too close, too honest. His fingers brush against House's skin softly and House considers running against all odds.

"I don't wanna lose you either," Wilson says and damn it, House wants to kiss him until they both can't think.

So he does. Wilson still smiles against his lips.

"I didn't even get a honeymoon," House grumbles.

"You showed up at two of mine," Wilson says and House has to cackle at the memory of his face in Hawaii when he showed up with two cocktails at the beach. "But I'll make it up to you."

"Deal." House has a few ideas how to take him up on this promise. They mostly involve beds and lube.

"This is quickly getting old, House."

House smiles, grabs Wilson's tie and yanks. "C'mon, a little holiday cheer? You're such a Grinch."

Wilson scoffs, but he lets House pull him against the doorway, in plain view of the whole hospital.

"I'm the Grinch. Right. Because you're so jolly."

House shrugs, leans in. "I think this Christmas has changed my mind."

"As flattering as it is that you hung mistletoe under seemingly every door and keep following me, I do have patients."

"Oh, this is purely for selfish reasons."

"You think kissing me in the hospital will send Cuddy into a fit? Is that why you're doing it?"

House finally gets tired of playing it subtle, grabs Wilson by the back of his neck and kisses him. Wilson gives up easy, cuz he's a slut, melts into him.

"No," House says when he pulls away. "I'm doing it because I want to. Why else?"

Wilson watches as House stalks off, smiling. The plastic mistletoe is still dangling precariously. Wilson reaches up and snags it. Might come in handy for later.

I used to see this image all the time in December but now literally nobody cares. We as a society have forgotten him. All he wanted was to offer us a nice treat and what did we do? We abandoned him. Hell has taken refuge in our hearts and its fires have burned to ash all warmth and love. We should be ashamed.

Is this trying to subtly hint that House realises the same thing with himself or am I not getting blood from this stone? (Don't bother answering I'm just grasping straws and AUs/Headcanons)

Because he makes too many sexually ambiguous remarks for him not to be somehow part of the fruit bowl

okay I'm being a hypocrite now bUT LISTEN;

After seeing both House (which is expected) and Cuddy (not so expected) try and shut down his relationship I kinda get why Wilson didn't tell anyone.

He found someone that makes him happy who just happens to fit the profile of the man he enables and now everyone's trying to end it? I...would probably not tell anyone either.

Knowing how things go in this show... can't have happiness for too long. Something gotta go tits up.

I'm dreading the later seasons but I'll be a big boy for now.
