I'm 99% sure there's a scene in kings rising where Damen throws Laurent a fruit, and I've wanted to draw that for forever(if somebody remembers the page I would be eternally grateful)

Still not satisfied with his face, but wanted to test some colours before I finalized the sketch. - the vibe is very much sunburnt but my phone desaturated the colours

Fun fact, Achilles eye colour is never mentioned in any ancient text. Patroclus however does get his eyes described by Dares Phrygius who says of the Achaean "… handsome and powerfully built. His eyes were gray. He was modest, dependable, wise, a man richly endowed."

This has lead me to believe that Achilles has regular brown or black eyes while Patroclus shares the same eye colour as Athena

for every comment I get about Achilles' eyes "being green in the book" I make his eyes bluer

Thank you so much! I actually started reading Fagles' translation last year but put it aside cause classes got to hectic- will definitely be restarting that immediately.

I'm currently in the middle of translating book 22 in preparation for an ancient greek exam, so Fagles' will be a welcome diversion, while still technically being relevant.

I need to reread the Iliad again this is so funny

Wolfy what translation are you reading! I need to know - quit literally for research purposes!!

Cause in Myrmidones, in Aeschylus's heroic trilogy about the Trojan War we get Achilles's lamentation over Patroclus's corpse:

"You had no consideration for my pure reverence of your thighs, ungrateful after all our frequent kisses"

Which is pretty good proof that the Greeks understood their relationship as pretty romantic/erotic

But I've never encountered "longing for Patroclus manhood" in any translation of the iliad I've read

I haven't animated in years so this was a fun side quest / return to a former passion. It's a very simple animation (only 4 frames) and I didn't use a reference so I'm sure I did everything in an unorthodox manner. But I'm trying not to be to much of a perfectionist about my art.
