it's always sunny is one of my fav shows and i still watch the newest episodes, but i maintain: iasip lost its magic the minute it left 2005. that show lived in 2005 for eleven years and then somewhere in seasons 12-13 they decided it needed to be happening in present day. but these characters simply cannot exist alongside like. smart phones and tik tok. no. these guys need to still be using flip phones and ipod shuffles. iasip guys need to be using napster on a computer the size of a truck engine. there is no world in which the characters of iasip can live in the same timespace as olivia rodrigo. this show is the epitome of 00's aesthetic, and trying to splice them into the world of like... instagram and trump... it just ain't right. it just ain't right

And if I say Mac grew up equating love to cigarette burns and absent fathers and getting told to toughen up, that Mac doesn’t understand love that isn’t conditional, love without equal parts hate or distaste, that never in his life has Mac understood earnest love, that even though Dennis isn’t trying to, he often ends up re-confirming this idea in Macs head, that love is hatred, that-

ALSO for me sorry controversial opinion but im glad mac got dennis the rpg specifically NO HATE!!!!!! but 2 me its not JUST a joke abt dennis loving violent things its about a tool of destruction turned into a gesture of love its about dennis holding something designed to obliterate so tenderly. its about them going down to shoot the gun together in s1e5 its about mac letting dennis reload it for him because he likes the sound. its about the fact that mac had to dig through the dark web to find it. its about getting something violent on purpose, a thin veil of masculinity over what is so clearly an act of unabashed devotion. its about the fact that the rocket didnt come and neither of them can use it and its about the fact that dennis doesnt care. its not about being useful. its about mac using it to destroy dennis car when he leaves because when dennis left he destroyed their home. its about weaponizing acts of love.

dare i say that they made dennis finally reach a place with mac where he's comfortable about going back to their old dynamic only for him to find out a couple episodes later that mac has a boyfriend now. i needed the switch in the dynamic, instead of mac being obsessed over dennis its dennis' turn now while mac seems like he's moving on and dennis sees him slipping away
