I think the reason I'm seeing more and more people getting tired of proship is because our world is just awful right now. You hear what's going on around the world, then you go online and you see people wanting incest and pedophilia to be romanticised in fiction and you think, "God, really?". But also - we're seeing fandoms become more toxic, especially after the pandemic with non-fandom people joining out of boredom. This isn't really a 1:1 real life parallel, but the con I attend has had more families attending, which is great! Kids get a day out and there's stuff for the parents too. However, in recent years, more creeps (usually non-fandom) have been going to cons solely to look for dates, harassing both teen and adult cosplayers for attention. This simultaneous uptick in both families (esp young ones) and misogynistic cis people attending worries me, because no one should be harassed, and no kid should have to see some weirdo trying to invade a cosplayer's personal space and sexualising them (esp if they're cosplaying from children's or teen media). It's not the same thing, obviously, but it reminds me of how so many people have to block proshippers or put "proship DNI" in their bios to keep these people out, especially since again, proshippers usually exist in fandoms for children's or teen media. Another thing is that on other social media platforms, I'm seeing more people calling out cosplayers or photographers who have done heinous things to other nerds within fandom spaces. I feel like that's why the phrase "fiction doesn't affect reality" isn't holding water anymore - social media has been used to speak up about SO much stuff happening to people IRL, people who have joined communities to celebrate fictional media, that people are getting tired of that phrase being repeated like a broken record.

The radqueer community eggs on people with harmful paraphilias, encouraging them to act on their urges. To indulge in them.

Radqueers are adding fuel to the fire. Pro-contact, pro-consent, neutral contact. Hating on those who are anti contact.

I'm aware not all paraphiles are predators, but we shouldn't ignore the ones that are.

With how radqueers treat paraphilia and the thoughts of paraphiles, they're only furthering the stigma paraphilias/paraphiles have and are actively making it harder for those who want to get better.
