Wicket is nice and underway, mostly done now. Just the spearhead and straps to go for the most part, and a splodge of paint that I got on the hood that I only noticed during taking the pictures.
Going to be fun trying to fix that, but at least it’s a but of the model I enjoy painting the most.

Decided that instead of posting on base and then another, I’d instead get both completely done and post them together.
I really feel that I’ve managed to do much better than any of my previous bases have been. Managing to build up the texture of bark on the tress and the moss on the trees, as well as the planets growing near the fallen branches having similar colours to the greens already present. The tufts also help tie in to that visual identity with a but more of a saturated green without being too much.
The stormtrooper helmets add a need punch of brightness and a colour that doesn’t appear anywhere else on the models.
The Ewoks themselves, with their colourful hoods and feathers do that as well, drawing the immediate attention (as should be the case as they are the main event). Being able to really play around with an array of colours for fur and hoods made these a lot of fun to paint.
Now onto Logray and Wicket!

Yub Nub for base numero dos of the Ewok Trappers. Got all the lovely little details done.
Gave this lot some bright, colourful feathers and each of them got a unique colour of their spear grips. Had quite a lot fun doing it, and now we are just the two named characters to go before working on the bases.
Also, did the spear heads as a stone style material, and while drybrushing would have been the fast, easy and effective way to do it on a textured surface. I’ve been one for fast painting, and instead did a nice gradient and built up a pretty decent transition. Reminds me I should get photos of the other spears heads which are marbled and quite nice (if subtle).
Still need to find some names for these three and one of the other group. Please, if you have a suitably Ewok name for one let me know.

Been a while, needed a break from social media and pressuring myself to post photos of my models and instead to just paint when I felt it and to enjoy it. Turns out that was really good for enjoying it and I’ve been beavering away.
So little red yub nub hood and two friends are looking good.
Good progress across most areas of the ewoks, just the spears to go and they’ll be ready to join their brethren.

First three Ewoks all done and ready for basing. Already started on the next three before getting some work in on the bases. Really enjoying painting these little guys.

Leather all done, tried yet another new way of doing it (mainly because I can’t remember how I have done it other times, rather than wanting to experiment).
Also got the skull Kneesaa has taken to wearing, currently one of the few times I’m still mixing more than two paints but everytime I do this bone I remember why it’s worth it. Sometimes.

The 3rd Ewok Hunter, and final one for the first base, has their hood. Again friend Scott decided upon the colour for the hood, opting for a midnight blue base with grey-blue highlights
Ended up with some very Solid Snake’s sneaking suit vibes, or maybe a navy camo pattern.
Onto the leather sections for all three.
If you want to name an Ewok Hunter and pick a hood colour feel free to leave a suggestion in the comments/replies.

Yub Nub! The Ewoks have ambushed the painting table and progress is good. Enjoying playing with colours and textures across the fur and hoods.
The pouches, straps, weapons and other pieces shared across models will be done at the same time but knocking out one Ewoks fur and hood a day (so far), feels pretty good.
These two are from one of the multi bases, but all of them have such great character and the sculpts really capture the Yub Nub vibes. And I really do like Ewoks, just have to check one of my SWGoH accounts for that.

New Ewok boxes are going to occupy my time going forward but until I get some building done and the weather improves to basecoat them, I decided to noodle around on one of the two Padawan Ahsokas I own and try some stuff out and mess with colours.
Nice bone cloth going on, not sure what I’ll do on her next but I’ll figure something out. It’s also likely that this could end up being a kaleidoscope of colours.

Been a while, health issues and a need to finish a commission by a specific deadline meant my desire to open, let alone post on socials disappeared. But…
Here’s the most recent photos I have of the commission - to add 3 players to a Blood Bowl roster before a tournament. I had 5 days to get it done for a team I painted 5ish years ago. No notes or record of what I did, but I matched them pretty well.
The team is back again now for new bases, so team shot to follow when thats done.

Well, over the past few days I’ve managed to knock out all of the remaining parts of the Kraken (except the eye lenses, always forget those).
Think this is up there as one of the best models I’ve painted. Happy with all aspects of the paint I put on it, just need to get the base right really…

Got some good work in on the decorative metal sections, always good to get some practice in with NMM gold, starting to feel more comfortable with it. Maybe I’ll try and learn silver or copper at somepoint.
Trying to figure out how I want to do the joints and also the strip on the back and the abdomen section. Thinking some kind of oiled metal for the joints and maybe a sea green or similar for the other parts.
Not sure though…

Work started on the Kraken Super Tactical Droid. Always imagined it in a purple ish colour, and I’ve been wanting to push my ability when it comes to lighting on models.
Overall It’s looking pretty good to me so far. Just got to get the rest done to the same level now.

Both bases of B(ee)2 Battle Droids finished. Whilst I enjoy painting yellow, painting hazard stripes with triple vision was an incredibly painful process and a real struggle.
But, the end result is particularly striking and very much in keeping with my style of painting.

Well, I’m all abuzz with progress so let me introduce you to the first 2 of my Bee2 B2 Super Battle Droids.
These guys have more than a sting in their wrist mounted lasers. Looking sharp, it’s good to see the CIS is following proper health and safety with these guys.
Although I have gone slightly loopy with painting chevrons, only two more of these to go.

Savage is done, and with just bases to do for the Witches of Dathomir box (waiting on post to arrive for that), it’s time to move on to the next exciting Shatterpoint project.
Really quite happy with how Savage Opress has turned out. Definitely smashed the goal of dark tones with colour. And the smoke might be my favourite out of the four models in this box with how it interacts with the sculpt.
So get ready for a surprising set of choices which colours and schemes with the Appetite for Destruction box next.

It’s the end of the year, and time for reflecting on the last 365 days. So starting from the top left and going in a circle to the right.
I started off the year with a winged Tyranid Prime as a commission for a friend. Great enjoyed painted the Green Goblin xenoform, and of course spent far too long texturing the carapace but it looks great. The base also was a high point.
Next, Bo-Katan Kryze and a return to a favourite colour in turquoise. I began painting Shatterpoint models with more subdued tones and appearances, but that really isn’t my way of painting and following how I want to paint ended with a better result and this is where I had really gotten into the groove.
One of the members of the Cadian killteam I was working on. Love everything about this model, the armour is smooth yet colourful, the grey made up for my mistakes earlier in the year and the hair is just the icing on the cake, I’m sure the commissars are really happy with the uniform regulation adherence.
Another Mandalorian, this time from the Death Watch. The black armour is really subtle but the red is a really nice bright red without going into pink or orange.
The medic for the killteam, taken from the Eucliden Starstriders box, and full of character. Probably the biggest use of metallics all year, really happy with the purple tones and just how I managed to contrast that with the skin and little splashes of colour everywhere else.
One of my personal favourite models this year, in Bongo Fett. Everything on this model I’m happy with. Born out of a discord conversation with one of my best friends, it exceeded my expectations.
Another of my favourite models this year, Sister Dogmata from the Sisters of Battle. One of my favourite factions for design in 40k and I painted her in another favourite colour in yellow. Striking and at odds with the normal look of the Sisters, I want to revisit them with an updated look.
Ah, Mother Talzin and a return to painting lots of red. Achieved a smooth red and didn’t lose that with layers, also painted multiple reds without things looking out of place. Topped off with some very nice green smoke for contrast.
Oh, and of course “Suns Out. Guns Out.”
