#dragastherapy In collaboration with @blue.raccoon.workshops @pratipatny at @chaidukaan By @dragvanti We are all in Drag every day. Whether or not you realize it, you’re in Drag right now. Drag is simply a way to express one’s self through appearance, action and dress. Drag Therapy is an interactive, mixed medium psychotherapy for individuals and groups allowing participants, regardless of gender and sexual orientation, to identify, explore and embody different parts or “Drags” of themselves through costume, mask making, storytelling, performance, makeup, verbal and nonverbal communication, scent, play, visualization, and more. Mixed medium therapies use elements of many different expressive and visual art therapies. #dragvape #dragqueen #DragTherapyWorkshop #dragindonesia #patrunichidanandasastry #sas3dancingfeet #suffocatedartspecimen #mentalhealth #mentalhealthawareness #selfcare #love #selflove #anxiety #motivation #depression #health #mentalhealthmatters #life #mindfulness #loveyourself #wellness #inspiration #fitness #healing #happiness #positivity (at India) https://www.instagram.com/p/CTY2Sv8lE7m/?utm_medium=tumblr

#Chaturabhanga - Queer Characters from Mahabharata Picture project by @alekhyas_pixels @alekhya_writes Based on writings of @devduttmyth #Mohini According to Tamil versions of the Mahabharata, the god Krishna – an incarnation of Vishnu – also took the form of Mohini and married Aravan. This was in order to give Aravan the chance to experience love before his death, as he had volunteered to be sacrificed. Krishna remained in mourning in the Mohini form for some time after Aravan's death. This marriage and death of Aravan are commemorated annually in a rite known as Thali, during which Hijra (Indian "third gender") take on the role of Krishna-Mohini and "marry" Aravan in a mass-wedding, followed by an 18-day festival. The festival ends with a ritual burial of Aravan, while the Hijras mourn in Tamil style: by beating their chests in ritual dances, breaking their bangles and changing into white mourning clothes. I wanted to name this piece as #Aravani as that is the cult followed post the myth associated with this character. However ARAVANI is a word adapted by the Hijra community as an identity and hence me being a non-hijra person using that for a photo representation would make it sensless with disregards the entire community who identify with that name. I also thought to call it as #Amohini as this image is more about the pain and sorry. Mohini meaning the enchantress is here Depectied as non enchanter as she is not "mangal" As she is filled with sorry. I didn't wanted to use that too, cause that not only discriminated the idea of widowhood as unsacred, it also make the purpose more cliche. #krishna #radhakrishna #harekrishna #radheradhe #radha #radhekrishna #love #vrindavan #lordkrishna #iskcon #radhe #india #radharani #god #hindu #kanha #mahabharat #krishnalove #bhakti #shiva #hinduism #radhakrishn #mahadev #krishnaconsciousness #haribol #radheshyam (at India) https://www.instagram.com/p/CTA77vkhv4V/?utm_medium=tumblr

#Chaturabhanga Untold queer stories of mahabharat Photographic recreation inspired by #Shikandiandthestoriesuntold by @devduttmyth Picture by @alekhyas_pixels @alekhya_writes #Shikhandi Shikhandi, a character in the Mahabharata. He was originally born as a girl named 'Shikhandini' to Drupada, the king of Panchala. In a previous lifetime, Shikandini was a woman named Amba, who was rendered unmarriageable by the hero Bhishma. Humiliated, Amba undertook great austerities, and the gods granted her wish to be the cause of Bhishma's death. Amba was then reborn as Shikhandini. A divine voice told Drupada to raise Shikhandini as a son; so Drupada raised her like a man, trained her in warfare and arranged for her to marry a female. On the wedding night, Shikhandini's wife discovered that her "husband" was female, and insulted her. Shikhandini fled, but met a yaksha who exchanged his sex with her. Shikhandini returned as a man with the name 'Shikhandi' and led a happy married life with his wife and children. During the Kurukshetra war, Bhishma recognised him as Amba reborn and refused to fight 'a woman'. Accordingly, Arjuna hid behind Shikhandi in order to defeat the almost invincible Bhishma. In the Javanese telling, Srikandi (as she is known) never becomes a man, but is a woman equal to men, and is the wife of Arjuna. After his death, Shikhandi's masculinity was transferred back to the yaksha. #queerart #queer #queerartist #pab #pansexualart #lgbtq #art #lgbt #pride #instagay #dragqueen #drag #panartist #illustration #artist #digitalart #artistsoninstagram #panboy #drawing #lgbtqia #contemporaryart #lgbtart #nonbinary #pansexualpride pride #makeup #dragqueen (at India) https://www.instagram.com/p/CSzCJRcF36H/?utm_medium=tumblr

#AsthaNowYika @santoshkumar_gangala #Proshitabhartruka Proshitabhartruka (“one with a sojourning husband”) or Proshitapatika (as named by Keshavadasa) is the woman whose partner has gone away from her and does not return at all. She is depicted seated mourning the lonliness the partner has left her under, tearing apart her true self to the mirror of reflection. The artificality is gone and she is felt to be real, surrounded by her thoughts and memories of dream she weaved with a wrong person, but refusing to be consoled. she is unhidding herself, depleating the covers one by one and feeling her own skin. The Ashta-Nayika is a collective name for eight types of nayikas or heroines as classified by Bharata in his Sanskrit treatise on performing arts - Natya Shastra. The eight nayikas represent eight different states (avastha) in relationship to her hero or nayaka. As archetypal states of the romantic heroine, it has been used as theme in Indian painting, literature, sculpture as well as Indian classical dance and music. #acting #actor #actress #actorslife #film #theatre #actors #love #movie #model #art #tiktok #comedy #cinema #photography #drama #casting #movies #hollywood #instagram #bollywood #artist #music #tv #theater #singing #instagood #director (at India) https://www.instagram.com/p/CSa9y3GF_Xz/?utm_medium=tumblr

#AsthaNowYika @santoshkumar_gangala #Abhisarika Abhisarika ("one who moves") is that heroine, who sets aside her modesty and moves out of her home to secretly meet her lover. She is at the door of her house and on her way to the tryst, defying all kinds of difficulties like the traffic, sunlight and pollution of the city. She is prepared to leave the house and go on for a date. Her uber is ready and she doesn't care about who makes the first move.
