Morning y'all!!! What a beautiful #friday 🙌 The sun is finally shining after a week of rain!!😎 This week's #featurefriday is: Kay Summers aka 0.kay.welds . Papamo) What got you into welding? Kay) I had the chance to briefly try welding a long time ago at a factory I was working in. I never got the opportunity to switch positions within my company but always had it in the back if my mind as something I'd like to pursue someday... fast forward many years later, I went to school, got certified and just started my first welding job! . Papamo) How long have you been welding? Kay) About 1.5-2 years total, including school and my job. . Papamo) What's your favorite processes? Kay) TIG and SMAW are my favorite, I don't get to do much stick welding but I enjoy when I do. . Papamo)What are your goals for the next 5yrs. Kay) I'm thinking about joining the apprenticeship at my company and just continuing to further my education in welding. . Papamo) What is one advice you would give to an inspiring welder or metal artist. Kay) The best advice I would give is to be patient with yourself! It takes a lot of practice, dedication, and patience, so dont give up! . Afternoon y'all!!! What a beautiful #friday 🙌 This week's feature is: Ray Arianna Aka she.ismanitou . Papamo) What got you into welding? Ray) I had always been curious about welding after seeing multiple projects from metal artists. I became instantly obsessed with the possibilities that metal has. It lead me to take on extra curricular programs towards welding. After I was enrolled everything came together, welding brought me everything I needed in life so I continued to peruse the passion. . Papamo) How long have you been welding? Ray) Two years ago I started attending an industrial training program. My first year had been the introduction to welding processes. As I continued to develop into college the following year after, I gravitated towards TIG welding. My employment began soon after graduating. I have now been at Champ Industries for the following eight months. . Papamo) Types of welder own? If any. Ray)Sadly I do not have a welder of my own just yet. Miller welders syncrowave models are what I’m hoping for in the near future. . Papamo) What's your favorite processes? Ray) My favourite process is TIG welding. Teachers from my classes would say how difficult it was to master this process. So I took it upon myself to rise up to the challenge. Just after the first day I was aspired to make it my future. . Papamo)What are your goals for the next 5yrs. Ray) My plans for the future are ambitious. I’m hoping to get enough experience in the industry that I can open up my own shop. But not just an ordinary production shop. I have envisioned my shop to be multidirectional. . Papamo) What is one advice you would give to an inspiring welder or metal artist. Ray) Everyone is unique but we will always compare ourselves, we must never forget every artist was first an amateur. So continue to challenge yourselves, you can do anything you work hard for. . . Afternoon y'all!!! What a beautiful #friday 🙌 This week's Feature Friday is April in the upcoming #womenwelderoftheworld 🌎👩‍🏭 i0nFluxx . Papamo) What got you into welding? i0nFluxx) I had registered to be a student for a day in a welding program at a trade school. That same day; after having experienced welding for the first time, I had enrolled into the welding program which started in August 2015 and ended in November 2016. The school then offered to pay for my High Pressure Specialization course which started in February 2017 and ended in November 2017. . Papamo) How long have you been welding? i0nFluxx) Since August 2015 (if you count school) Otherwise, I’ve been welding/ working for a year. . Papamo) What’s your favorite process? i0nFluxx) I really love SMAW, but this is a hard question for me because I sincerely enjoy every process including gouging and oxycutting. I try and get better for each process every chance I get; though it’s hard to appreciate welding, personally, when I am doing production jobs/ series welding the same pieces all the time. I was once hired for a welding job and I felt like I was going crazy making 500-600 same little pieces in a day’s worth. I need something a bit more challenging than that. . Papamo) What are your goals for the next five years? i0nFluxx) I’m very spontaneous; I don’t really plan life ahead of time I just let it happen; Related to welding: Keep learning the most I can; still have all my body parts intact. Related to personal: Save up a good cash down for a house, live comfortably and be happy. Papamo) What is some advice you would give to some aspiring welders? i0nFluxx) Be patient. Don’t be afraid to ask a lot of questions. Get a little notepad and bring it with you everywhere you go, take notes of important things that you might want to go back to in case no one is there to remind you. Last but not least: have fun! .
