Tea for Relaxation and Rest
Tumblr media
Ingredients:
1 tsp of Lavender
1 tbsp. of Chamomile
1 tsp of your choice of sweetener
Tools:
Favorite mug
Spoon - (if you want, I eyeball everything!)
Tea Kettle
Loose leaf tea infuser
Instructions:
Step #1:
Pour water in your tea kettle if you haven’t already, and wait for it to boil
Step #2:
Next, open and pour out - measuring with your eyes- the sweetener of your choice.
*if you don’t like to measure with your eyes, I would recommend starting with a  1 tbsp. of sweetener, or a teaspoon if you like it less sweet.
Step #3:
Place, the lavender and the chamomile into the tea infuser, and place that in your mug ready to go.
Step #4:
Pour hot water into your mug and wait for the flavors to come through. I recommend, about 1-3 minutes!
Step #5:
               Sit back, relax, and enjoy!

When the Tea in an Anime Looks Better than Reality:
Tumblr media
No worries though, because the beauty lies in the reality that even teas in anime can be made in the real world. Take for example this tea from the popular Studio Ghibli movie, The Secret World of Arrietty. One may notice that the tea is a lighter green color, perhaps because it has milk or cream in it.
Ingredients:
Green Tea: in a bag or if you like loose teas: Sencha, Bancha, Gyokuro, and even Matcha*
Tea Infuser
Milk of your choice
Sweetener of your choice
*with the Matcha you will not have to use the infuser if you don’t want to. The color will definitely come out if you use Matcha.
How To:
Start by boiling water in your tea kettle! If you don’t have a tea kettle, heat up some water in your sauce pan. If you don’t have either, heat some water in your favorite microwavable mug. I would fill the mug 3/4th of the way with water.
Then place your favorite green tea: loose or in a bag in the boiled water.
Steep for about 2-3 minutes, and then take it out
Add your desired sweetener
Add a milk of your choice to the tea to help cool it down
Stir and enjoy! :D

Simple Cafe de Olla
Tumblr media
This is incredibly easy! I know its coffee, and not tea, but I had to share. It’s been getting me through the day lately and I love it. :D My grandma always makes a pot of “cinnamon tea” or te de canela as we refer to it at home, and it just really helps with this recipe. Basically, you want to place a couple pieces of cinnamon bark in your tea kettle with some water and let that come to a boil. I suggest that you leave the cinnamon water in the tea kettle in case you want more for later… If you want it cold - place tea in a glass container and place that in the fridge and take it out whenever you’d like... perhaps the next day!! Traditionally, cafe de olla is made in a clay pot and boiled with some spices depending on where you are. My family just makes it with cinnamon bark and no other spices. What you will need for this very simple recipe is instant coffee, cinnamon, and water.
Ingredients:
       Cinnamon bark
        Water
       Instant Coffee
(Optional Sweeteners: Honey, Sugar, or Agave)
 To Prepare:
1.      Place the cinnamon bark in a full tea kettle of water and let that come to a           boil. After the pot comes to a boil...
 2.      Place your favorite instant coffee in your mug or tumbler, and add your                 desired amount of sweetener- if you so wish.
 3.      Pour in the cinnamon tea and stir with a spoon.
 4.      Enjoy!

Don’t forget that if you like it sweet, add some Honey, or agave, or sugar! One way to keep those warm feelings going longer is to place those ingredients into your tea kettle, then add the water and boil the ingredients all together!

Now that pumpkin spice is back in season, and so are colds and flus, let's talk about some of the other common Autumn spices - cinnamon, clove, and ginger.
Cinnamon is known to be antispasmodic as well as antibacterial. Some people do take cinnamon in capsule form as an herbal supplement to help control blood sugar.
Clove is high in antioxidants, may alleviate tooth pain, and also may help support healthy blood sugar levels.
Ginger has gained popularity for it's anti inflammatory properties as of late for arthritis and other ailments. It's also a common anti nausea fighter and stomach settler. Also useful for easing menstrual cramps!
And why not stir all that goodness into a warm cup of tea on a chilly autumn day?

A Chai Recipe
Tumblr media
I recently stumbled upon an amazing recipe for Masala Chai on Pinterest and I had to share. Unfortunately, I couldn’t use full-fat milk like the recipe recommended, and had to use lactose free milk for the recipe. Any type of milk will work.  If you want the full recipe I recommend you visit the website:
Source:
“Authentic Masala Chai Recipe- Spiced Indian Milk Tea” by Joonas
https://yerbamateculture.com/authentic-masala-chai-tea-recipe-spiced-indian-milk-tea/
Here, the author explains the history and the ingredients. Its very helpful and informative!  I will say, I had to improvise on some of the ingredients and the prep of the tea. There are optional ingredients on the website that are not listed below.
Ingredients (for 6 servings) :
- 3 Cups of water
- 3 or 4 bags of tea (I used Lipton Tea bags specifically, Lipton Tea’s Black Pearl: Pure Long-Leaf Black Tea)
- 1 inch of ginger; sliced
-10 whole cloves
- 15 green cardamon pods
-1 1/2 (2 inches of cinnamon)
-Honey - to taste (honey was my preferred sweetener of choice)
- 3 cups of milk
Prep:
- Crack open the cardamon pods and cloves and add them to a pot. Add your thinly sliced ginger, cinnamon sticks and black tea into the pot - if you’re using black tea bags, cut the bags open and pour the black tea into the pot. Let the flavors combine by constantly mixing the ingredients with a wooden spoon (or whatever spoon you have) on low heat for about a minute or two.
- Pour in the 3 cups of water.
*For those who like Pumpkin Spice - now would be the time to pour a couple of teaspoons (or tablespoons) of pumpkin spice into the mix. - Honestly you can do it now or after you pour in your milk of choice*
- Bring to a low boil and cover. Let the mixture steep for about 1-2 hours. I did about 1 hour and 30 min. (The recipe says you can steep on low heat for 10 minutes)
- Pour in 3 cups of milk and honey*, and turn up the heat again until it is almost at a boil. Let it simmer for about 10 mins.
*Add Honey to taste. You can add more to your individual cup(s) later. But if you like it really sweet add about a couple tablespoons to the whole mixture to be safe.
- Place small fine mesh strainer over your mug and using a soup ladle, pour your desired amount of chai into your mug and drink up!

Afternoon Tea — everything stops for it in England, Ireland and Scotland. It is a beautiful tradition. Scones, jam and clotted cream, sponge cake and berries, tea sandwiches, and butter biscuits are the usual fare with tea, and the finest teapot and teacups are brought out (or silver, if you have it). It is a lovely break in the afternoon and is not to be rushed.
