Tepito Coffee, 695 E Colorado Blvd, Pasadena, CA 91101

Tepito Coffee took over the Jones Coffee space inside Vroman’s and opened in early December 2022. They specialize in coffee beans grown in Mexico and roasted in East LA. The coffee served at Tepito Coffee is produced in Boca del Monte, a small rural town located in the state of Veracruz, México characterized by subtropical forest. The beans are medium roast. They offer espresso drinks, café de olla, cold brew, house pour over, specialty pour over, nitro brew, and more. For food, they have salads in the refrigerated case, breakfast burritos, and a few pastries (cookies, empanada, concha). The pastry case barely had anything in it but it might have been for display only. I didn’t see the prices listed for anything and they’ve been open for a few weeks.

Mr. Froyo had a specialty pour over ($6). The cup size was on the small size and the cup wasn’t filled to anywhere near the top. He said flavor-wise it was fine (3 stars) but it had a good effect on him (4.5 stars). The pastries didn’t look that appealing and I was annoyed by the lack of clear pricing.

A latte with whole milk was $6.75 (expensive) but well-made with very nice foam art. The flavor wasn’t weak, watered down or bitter. 

They have free wi-fi and a few tables. It’s inside a bookstore, so it’s on the small size. Vroman’s has parking behind the store. No cash is accepted.
