From light-hearted backstories, to daring adventures across Thedas, to epic, spicy smut, our writers have been hard at work getting ready to share their works with you.

We are looking for a variety of artists to join our Big Bang and create at least one illustration per fic, tangibly inspired by that story. There is a story to suit every taste!

Artist Participation in Brief

Work Time: August 14 - October 31.

You will produce a polished illustration tangibly inspired by the fanfiction you’re paired with.

You are not required to be a professional or experienced artist to join. We’ll need artists interested in illustrating a wide variety of topics, including characters and events from all three Dragon Age games. We will also need artists comfortable being associated with NSFW fics, including darkfics.

👉You can choose to depict the featured characters, a specific scene, or something broader, like the kind of image that might be used for a book cover. This is up to your discretion, and you’re encouraged to talk to your writer for inspiration - but this is not a commission, so you are encouraged to follow your imagination!

From August 3-10, any artists who sign up will be able to read every single story pitch from the Bang and rank their top 3 choices. Pitches will be anonymous (you will not know the author). You can find an example of what information writers will provide you with here.

The stories pitched to us range from Teen to Explicit ratings. There are many different relationships represented, including platonic and crossover ships, and we have writers focusing on both canon characters as well as OCs.

I realize that this is not nearly all of it, when I feel like half of his entire dialogue is actually using some form of rhetorical device. lol But much like him being an artist in creating the frescoes, I just love how Solas tends to paint a picture with his words, too?

There's something about the "But not everyone wants to go to Rivain!" line that always cracks me up though. Like, the subtle frustration in his delivery is so funny to me. The fact that the Creator of the Veil is comparing spirits' expectations of crossing the barrier between the worlds to a nice summer holiday trip to Rivain. lmao I picture Solas and his very skeptical "pro-Fade" spirit buddies watching some of the memories of the waking world like it would be the worst possible vacation spot, like when he told Blackwall how he quickly left that memory of the old Val Royeaux market because of "the smell". 😂 And now he's stuck here in "exotic Rivain" desperately searching for a ticket back home. lol

Also, that comparison of the Grey Wardens killing the Archdemons to a "fair maiden chasing a butterfly off a cliff"... You just know we're so screwed if the last Archdemon is slayed. lol

The thing is I DO think that DATV is right to frame Mythal as this emotionally manipulative/abusive woman who doesn't truly understand consent because that's what flemeth has been this whole time. Flemeth IS manipulative, she DOES take over her daughters bodies. Similarly, Mythal might be the best of the evanerus but it's clear drinking from the well is an act of stripping away choice and individuality.

But I don't think Solas was the right person to put this narrative on. Solas should not have agency taken away from him; he becomes infinitely less interesting and less the mysterious trickster god if his kinda-girlfriend just made him do all that. Let the man commit crimes!

But MORRIGAN IS RIGHT THERE. and she's literally had her worst fear happen to her. So why not use HER as your 'oh shit Mythal was so fucked up and didn't understand consent at all'. Solas saying 'hes the best of them' and rook can look around and go. Right. Not only did she have slaves like the rest, but she STILL has slaves, and one of them is wandering around in anguish, possibly separated from her son, lover and/or any friends she had before, because she's now nothing less than a puppet.

If they REALLY wanted to do the Solas/Mythal stuff, then MORRIGAN should have been acting as a mirror to Solas, and he should have SPOKEN TO HER and found the fact that she was possessed as tragic as he finds the fact that the inquisitor drinks from the well. Even if it was just: 'this isn't what you wanted for yourself' 'isnt isnt?...I can't...I can't remember...I-'
