Update! I am now all the way through to late 2017 in terms of migrating the posts from this blog over to Pillowfort. That means there are only a good handful of posts left, plus some from my personal blog, but I hope and expect to be done with it this month.
If anyone else wants to join us over there, Pillowfort is now in open beta, heading for a public release later this year so things are still changing and improving with every update (for which they really listen to user feedback!). Here are some free invitation links if you want to try the site out:
invite try it such a nice site hiiiiii welcome enjoy
[in case this wasn’t obvious, yes, that’s how I linked my invites ;) ]
Update / blogkeeping
1 - MUCC IN EUROPE, YESSSSS. Will I see any of you at any of the concerts in Germany?
2 - I made a MUCC Community on Pillowfort.social and am slowly migrating all posts from this tumblr to that community. I have one designated List-of-content post as well, to make it much easier to navigate than this chaotic tumblr.
I started with the oldest post and go from old to new. I am done with 2012 and about halfways through 2013, so there’s still some ways to go.
3 - After I manage to migrate everything, I will delete this tumblr. This is gonna take some months, I just wanted to post a heads up.
4 - I have free pillowfort invite codes if anyone wants to join that lovely site.

hello, i want to ask something about Mucc birthday circuit ticket. can we buy on the day we desire, or its chuusen? thank you.
Hi Anon,
They haven’t announced anything regarding tickets yet, so I can’t say for sure.
I’m fairly sure it will be the same as in the past though, where you can apply for tickets for whichever day(s) you want. You probably know this already, but most if not all tickets will be sold through the FC, maybe a bit through komusou, and hardly anything left for public sale (leave alone tickets-at-the-door) - maybe except for Sato-day, as much as it pains me to say. This will depend on the venues/cities they pick for the four days too.
Best of ticketing luck if you can go!I’m still trying to figure out if I can go myself, this was much easier when I still lived in Osaka not Europe XD

MUCC - Shounen M
On 2017/07/19, this 344 pages heavy collection of interviews and pictures was released. I’m obviously not going to translate it all, but I will post summaries and quotes from some of the interviews as I get around reading them. Today, the very first one.
Miya in an interview with Ongaku to Hito in 2004
This is about writing lyrics, plus Miya's experiences with death.
The first time Miya wrote lyrics was in the first year of high school.
Danzetsu, for their first album Tsuuzetsu, was the first time he used an experience of his own as lyrics.
He ended up crying hard when they played it live.
Ever since, he often writes experiences down just as they remain in his memory for lyrics.
Danzetsu shows his vivid memory of the day his father died. He had been sick and passed when Miya was in the second year of elementary school. Miya remembers a phone call that morning, and with his mother, they went by train from Ibaraki to the hospital in Tokyo (like they would do every week). At that time, his father was dead already, but Miya didn’t understand that yet. When they got to the room, the door was unexpectedly open and the room looked bright white. Looking back, it was probably only that the sheets were changed to stark white ones and that some flowers had been put away, but Miya remembers a bright white light in that room.
He says his parents had previously made him meet the eyes of dying people, like the grandmother of a relative. They took him with them to visit her, and there he witnessed a drawn out, suffering death.
Seeing that moment of death was scary to him, but ever since he feels very calm when faced with seeing death.
He cried about his father’s death, but was very calm about all other deaths he experienced, to the point of wondering why he is that way. It’s not that he wants to grieve but can’t, it’s more an acceptance and moving forward.
Like in diary writing, he says it’s no good to just write “today this bad thing happened” but that it’s important to follow up with “but that was today, today is over and tomorrow is a new day”.
“We cannot re-do any day, any hour, any minute, any second. It all moves forward and we have to do the same”
Back to those train rides to the hospital in Tokyo, little Miya really loved trains (he still does, but apparently he was crazy about them as a kid) so he was always very excited to go to Tokyo because of the huge number of trains he could see in the big city.
When asked about the feelings leading to Kugatsu mikka no kokuin, Miya said it came from thinking about "a life". He wanted to write about something like that for a long time, and when he finally wrote kugatsu mikka no kokuin it took no time at all.
Something like in the lyrics actually happened, and it’s something he never wants to forget, so he tried to immortalize the memory by making it into a song. The same is true for both Danzetsu and Bouzenjishitsu.
In the process of bringing those memories into the open (= writing them down as lyrics), he has an honest talk with himself about the experiences. About how he was when they happened, and how he thinks about them now. It’s in the past so there is no changing it, but he must not forget about it, so he talks with himself about it.
“I have always been able to express unpleasant things, but lately I started to want to be someone able to express all things about living in an honest manner”, both happy and unhappy things, and everything in between. He’s not there yet, but that’s what he strives to become.

04. JOKER
Tatsurou held his mic stand out for the audience to hold – with the mic still on it, facing downwards while still singing into it. It fell down, right into the space between audience and stage with audible cracking and even more audible the sudden lack of singing XD Tatsurou then climbed down to get it, continued to sing from that in-between space, leaned back onto the fans – and got stuck there somehow, including a flustered „I'M STUCK! o.o“, and two venue staff guys had to come pull him up/out, lol

14. Tsubasa wo kudasai
mini-MC before Ieji Tatsurou: Do you guys know „Shota no Sushi“? No? It's a manga series I read when I was about 20, and in that series, this Shota guy has to make sushi for 100 people. He takes it lightly and is all aw well if just this one is a bit crocked what does it matter. And the master scolds him for it, „For you it might be just a single one of a hundred pieces, but for the customer that's his one special piece“ and that really moved me. As MUCC, we have played many many lives up to now, and there are always people who are there for the first time, and there are also always people who would have liked to come but can't because of their schedule. So for me, I don't want to play just „a live from this tour“, I want to treasure every single live on its own. Hiroshima! You're awesome, thanks for being here with us!
15. Ieji
16. Heide
17. Mae he
The pace of Mae he was a little fast, and both Tatsurou and Miya turned back to Satochi at times going „too fast, TOO FAST!“ at him XD Then during the interlude, Miya: Ah, he finally slowed down. And at the end of the song, Satochi: That totally wasn't fast, totally not fast!! With again the most adorable of faces, innocent of any guilt this little angel~
18. Mr.Liar
19. TONIGHT
MC
Yukke - When Yukke came out, people were calling his name so loudly and excitedly that he was totally caught by surprise (he doesn't usually get this big of a response) Yukke: Good evening! Hiroshima, you're so nice! Even to Yukke... (with a super delighted expression)
- Yukke: About Hiroshima, we have come here several times so there is a certain familiarity with the terrain by now! For example for baths! Fans: ??? Yukke: Like, when you go to this place, they will have a bath like that. Fans: ah. (laugh)
- Yukke: Yesterday I went for dinner alone as usual, to an okonomiyaki place. And for Hiroshima style okonomiyaki, you can choose between soba and udon for the noodles inside, right? And I love udon, so I chose that. So I waited for them to make my okonomiyaki, and waited, and waited. Ah, over there they are making one with soba, I wonder where they are making mine with udon... I waited for about 30 minutes, and then... „Here is yours with soba right!“ it came. „Oh wait a second, did you want it with udon?“ So I said yes, but it's alright, I'll take the soba one - I was sooo hungry after waiting for it for thirty minutes. But! I got Oolong tea for free! So nice~~~ Satochi -When Satochi came out, Yukke made him switch places with him. Usually Satochi would stand in the center for his MC part, where Tatsurou would normally be, but Yukke make him go to his position, so on the far left. Satochi looked a bit confused but simply went along with it.
-Then he spotted someone in the audience in front of him. Satochi: AHHH!!! THE ONE WHO LAUGHED AT ME!!! D: Yukke: What is going on, what happened? Satochi: At the previous live, when I talked about studying kanji using an app on my phone this guy laughed at me the whole time!! Yukke: And you remembered that? Satochi: YES. … Ah well (towards the mean fan) it's ok, go on and laugh (smiles happily) - Still at Yukke's position, Satochi: Ack, just a second, my contacts... (gets his member-produced merchandise out, an inuchi pocket mirror, and checks his eyes in it) Yukke: WHAT. Where did you learn to do something like this (in the tone of „like this shameless advertising of your merch“)??? Satochi: AH!!! (holds the mirror up so we can see it even from the far back, with the fakest of fake surprised faces) IT'S THE ONE FROM THE GOODS! Yukke: Hm, maybe I should promote mine like that too. Lately people have stopped tweeting me pictures of them wearing the face masks I designed. Satochi: No, but I REALLY had trouble with my contact lenses! Before, I had to keep washing them and washing them there (nods towards the drumset)! Yukke: Today is really fun. Just before, in the dressing room, every one was saying „so much fun today“, „such fun“. Everyone, are you having fun too? Fans: YESSS!!!!! Tatsurou joined them on the stage, crowd cheered Yukke: Tatsurou also looks like he had fun. Tatsurou: The hell, it's no fun whatsoever. Fans: EEEEHHHHH?!?!?! Tatsurou: (laughing) Just kidding. It's fun (with his mean smirk) Oh, oooooh! I forgot to mention this before! Tatsurou's talk portion during the MC is right after Satochi's this time, right. So when Tatsurou comes on stage, Satochi gives him the mic he used, handing it over with both hands and a 30° bow, Tatsurou accepting it with both hands and a similar bow. Then Satochi would put his hands together and bow again to Tatsurou, this time even deeper (40°ish? Some days the full 45° - like, a DEEP fucking bow) and with a super serious expression, like the mic was something holy that he passed on in a religious ceremony, and Tatsurou would put his hands together around the mic, holding the mic between his palms so at least the fingers of both hands were together, bowing back deeply though not quite as deep as Satochi. Then Satochi would nod and disappear to hide behind his drumset again. It's... truly fascinating to watch, like seeing parts of a ceremony when at a shrine or temple. Maybe just a liiitle biiit startling in the middle of a concert. And adorable. Daw ♥ Tatsurou - Tatsurou: So what were you guys talking about? Yukke: Like about the merchandise Satochi: About this person that laughed at me! Tatsurou: Huh. That's the correct reaction. Satochi: I remembered a lot about him, his hight, live clothes, …! Tatsurou: The fuck are you even talking about. - Tatsurou: This tour we are a lot on the bus and there's nothing to do, so I went to a Book Off. Got five volumes of Golgo 13, walked around and reeeaaaally quietly... farted. Like, super quietly, I could hardly hear it myself over the music they played in the store! But just a couple of meters away was a middle school kid who must have heard, he stared at me with a ( °Д°) face! He kept imitating the face of that kid, and then wondered how fans were going to put that when they tweeted about it XD Miya - Miya: So there is an instrument store downstairs, right. Before going to the venue, I went in and looked at the guitars, looked at the bases, looked at the effectors... was about to leave, but decided to walk around once more, and by total coincidence saw this dusty guitar in the back – it was a guitar I've been searching for for five years!! So I asked to try it out, bought it and used it in today's live. And! The guy working there was from Ibaraki too! He was transferred to Hiroshima, but he's from Ibaraki! What an amazing coincidence, it must have been fate! Made me appreciate Hiroshima in a new light. (I posted this bit before with a picture) - In Club Quattro, there is a slightly elevated part in the back of the floor. For smaller lives, this part is hidden by a curtain, but that curtain can be opened in order for more people to fit in. Apparently when MUCC played there before, it was always closed. Miya: It's so nice that the curtain in the back is open this time!! Tatsurou: Next time it's gonna be sold out too! Miya: Don't say that, it's going to be so lame should the curtain be closed again next time (laughs) Yukke: In that case let's just cover it with pictures of faces! So it looks like there are people there :D En 1. CLASSIC En 2. 1997 En 3. MAD YACK En 4. ENDER ENDER En 5. Ranchuu

That might have been from me / here too XD And hm, that was last year so I can’t guarantee yet that ‘16 will include any audio, but in general this all comes from http://mucc-mobile.jp/ , their mobile homepage (… duh). Membership there costs 300 Yen +tax per month and they accept international credit cards, so it’s a biiit like a second fanclub that’s open for international fans as long as they can navigate Japanese. It’s basically same price but well, w/o access to the regular FC homepage - or ticket ballots / FC pamphlets, lol, which is what most people seem to want from an FC. They do have some only-there content though, like a monthly mucc diary where members talk about lives/events that happened, special reports from lives, Satochi’s “blog” [❤❤❤], the occasional question [that I used to translate / that gave this blog its name], this birthday stuff, …).
If you’re willing to and have a cc to pay with but need help navigating the Japanese for registering, let me know. Been thinking about making an English how-to for a while now…
Birthday messages
My birthday was this week and I got a pleasant surprise… a mail with messages from the MUCC members and a video. If you subscribe to Komusou, MUCC’s mobile homepage, you get those now (I don’t remember anything from last year though? I guess it started after my last birthday)
The video can only be watched on that day (and only on your mobile device because you need to be logged in), but it’s really cute.
As for the messages… Under a cut in case anyone here has subscribed and doesn’t want spoilers.

It should be?
2014 it was (the first time they did this / as in the post above) - written message from each member - video to watch online with all of them
2015 it was - audio message from each member - picture of each member (from a shooting not published anywhere else)
In two-ish weeks I'll be able to talk about 2016's ;)

2014/03/15 Studio Partita - SatochiP
More random notes than a report, but I tried my best. I forgot my pen at home so I couldn't scribble down notes right after the con, sorry if I'm missing stuff. Still, this turned out long, so I separated the notes into General impressions / Songs / MC / Encore. Setlist was the same as in Tokyo, see here. Except that they did Sekai no owari twice, more about that in the part about the encore. General impressions:
Satochi's musical taste is interesting. The songs he choose to be played before the concert made the audience laugh sometimes, haha. Yukke posted the full list here. There's pretty much everything, from female idols (Girls' Generation, Momokuro) over OOR and ELLEGARDEN to Nirvana and As I Lay Dying.
Except for Tatsurou in his Shocker shirt, they were all wearing band-shirts. Yukke - Iron Maiden, Miya - Slayer. I think Satochi wore a The Black Dahlia Murder shirt.
The way the other members were looking at Satochi was SO. EFFIN. CUTE. So gentle. Just letting him do whatever he wanted, in his own time. Tagging along with a smile. These four guys really work well together! (I know this is no news or anything but especially with Satochi or the way the others think about him, it's hardly ever this obvious)
Also, I don't think I ever saw the members (and the staff on/around the stage, too) smile this much. Not saying that they normally don't enjoy the concerts (they most definitely do) but their songs tend to be a bit too dark or sad for bright smiles. Given Satochi and his antics, we had so many bright smiles this time. It was touching, really. And contagious. I still have to smile myself whenever I remember it.
I don't know if this is common knowledge already, but the survey sheets you can fill out after the concerts are different for each member produced live. The member in question designed it (as opposed to the usual Tatsurou). The header on Satochi's was obviously Inuchi, with both arms raised. Not only that, the MUCC members he drew also had their arms raised. One big lot of \(^-^)/
Most of the time Satochi was in the spotlight (literally, he had a spotlight on him on an otherwise dark stage several times) which was awesome for a change <3
There were far more guys in the audience than usual.
Songs
Tatsurou's voice was not as good as usual at the beginning. On twitter he mentioned his voice being messed up after his own live (TatsurouP), because he choose songs not paying attention to things like "will my voice survive this". Not saying this was the reason, just the most likely of the ideas I could come up with so far.
Possibly because of this he seemed quite angry at the beginning. Second half was ok though~
Media no juusei was... wow. Even more emotional than I remember it from the last time I saw it live, and quite different as well.
YOU & I, bass solo part. Yukke gets ready to play. Tatsurou comes up behind him and rips out hairs from his tights. Yukke jumps and starts playing while having a WTF-expression. Tatsurou kept laughing his ass off until he had to stop and sing. Second bass solo. Yukke looks behind him. Gets ready to play. Hits Tatsurou's hand that was coming for his tight-hairs again. And starts playing.
There were several times in different songs when Miya went back, faced the drum set/Satochi and they both mouthed the lyrics to the song with smiles on their faces (or well, Satochi smiled when he didn't do his concentrated-face. Or his this-is-hard-face. Or any of the other awesome faces he makes while playing the drums.) Did I mention all the cute that was going on here? So. effin. cute!
MCs
There were three MCs in total. 1st MC before Mae e, 2nd MC after World's End, 3rd MC at the beginning of the encore. For comparison, in a "normal" MUCC concert (if there is something like that), 1st would be Tatsurou saying maybe one line. 2nd would be Tatsurou saying a little bit more, but still very short. 3rd would be the main MC, where all members talk. This time, Satochi and his drinking-water-in-between-sentences thing (he did that for 1st and 2nd even though Tatsurou told him to first drink, then speak during 1st 8D one glare from Tatsurou during 2nd made him quickly put away his water, making Tatsurou laugh) made even 1st and 2nd quite long, haha.
Satochi said that he didn't know what to talk about. Yes, he could have thought about that beforehand. But he wouldn't remember anyways so.
On Satochi not remembering, he has a bunch of stuff written on one of his drum heads (if you're interested in the details, on a Remo Weatherking Coated Emperor. Seems like it was given away to some lucky fan after TatsuP in Osaka), basically using is as a cheat sheet. Including the refrain from "Honey" and "ha iya iya sasa" (... from the live in Okinawa, this is an Okinawan call). Satochi: "I wanted to say that in Okinawa! It's there so I wouldn't forget!" Also, something that basically translated to "hunchback NO" - because he feels the sound (yes, from the drums, not only when he sings) is much better when he sits with a straight back. So whenever he crouches down badly enough to be able to read this, he needs to sit up straightly again. Tatsurou told us about this written stuff and was surprised that ha iya sasa was still there. And then laughed his butt off about the hunchback NO thing, he obviously didn't know about it. Neither did Yukke. Miya jumps in and says it's been there for around three years already, lol. So Tatsurou obviously picks on Satochi for keeping that for so long, still not remembering without the visual aid. As in, he had to have written that for quite a number of times because of he frequently changes that drum head (didn't quite get the timing, every 3-4 months or every 3-4 concerts)
When Yukke started talking, he immediately apologized for his deep voice. He caught a cold the day before when he went eating with Satochi, apparently the a/c in that restaurant was set really strong/cold. They went eating kushikatsu (as they were in Osaka already and this is one of Osaka's yummy specialities). A couple was sitting next to them. And apparently Satochi was really worried about them because even though they ordered a large number of skewers (around 15), they weren't even touching them. For Yukke and Satochi, they would be eaten pretty much as soon as they were put in front of them.
On eating manners there, Satochi "Why is it not allowed to dip your kushikatsu twice?" (before starting to eat, you dip your kushikatsu once into a big-ish container of sauce. You do that only once, and never after having eaten part of it already. Those sauce containers will be used by many more people, so leaving stuff behind [fallen off crust from double-dipping] or contaminating it with your saliva [if dipping after biting something off] are considered horribly rude) Yukke: "You wouldn't like it if people put something from which they had eaten already in for a second time, would you." Satochi: "But I really, really want to dip again!"
Miya mentioned being out of ideas on what to eat in Osaka because they've been here so often already that all the standard dishes have been eaten several times. Then he goes on and on about a Kushikatsu chain in Tokyo that opens more and more restaurants, but that apparently doesn't exist in Osaka. Tatsurou (?) compared it to "Taiwan Ramen" in some other town, but at least kushikatsu really exists in Osaka, lol.
Tatsurou: "Satochi, what does the P [in the concert names] stand for." Satochi: "… … … o.o … … p...produce (audience claps) OF COURSE I KNOW THAT MUCH. There are many important words starting with p in English. Like... …. please!" (Sorry, I don't remember the words. He said 2-3 fairly average, random words, and I think please was not the first one). Tatsurou: "But what's the one you want most right now?" Satochi: "?????????" Tatsurou: "It's „power“, isn't it?" Satochi: "YES OF COURSE IT IS *poses*"
During the MC before the encore songs, Miya said that Partita was really strange in terms of temperature. He can't tell if it's hot or cold in general. Of course it's hot on stage. But apparently it was so cold backstage that now he ended up drinking hot coffee on stage! First time he ever did that, lol.
Encore
When they came back on stage for the encore, they were wearing white shirts on top of the MUPP shirt (the one with the heads):
At first, Tatsurou was sitting behind the drums, Satochi was in front and Yukke and Miya were on their usual sides. At some point they lined up in the right order and Miya complained about being Inuchi instead of a letter, lol. As for Sekai no owari, Miya was behind the drums, the other three were in the right order for the shirt to say Sa-To-chi: Tatsurou (Sa) on bass (2-string bass, hanging as low as possible), on the left. Satochi (To) as vocal in the center, Yukke (Chi) on guitar on the right (kinda short-necked compared to Miya's usual guitars? hanging high). Miya totally hidden behind the drumset.
The played Sekai no owari like that, but had some technical problems with Satochi's mic. Afterwards, Miya threw the drumsticks up and behind him, lol, at the curtain. They took off the white shirts and Yukke totally failed at that. He first RIPPED the neck much wider, then tried to pull it down to step out of it. Forgetting that he still had the monitors in his ears with the transmitter on his back, so trying to pull the shirt down basically pulled on his ears. Next he tried to take it off over his head, but again, monitors and their cable in the way. He finally succeeded in taking it off after taking out the monitors (duh).
Meanwhile, audience was shouting for "one more time!". Satochi was already back behind his drums, Tatsurou walked to him and asked him to decide if they would play it again or not as this was his show. Satochi okay-ed it and so they went back to their other positions and played it again. No problems this time but Miya seemed to be less enthusiastic this time (or maybe tired). Still, he threw the drumsticks behind him this time as well.
Everyone back to their normal positions. But! With the same instruments used before, so Miya had that short guitar and Yukke a 2-string bass... Sorry Yukke, but apparently that's all Tatsurou could do and he said himself he had no interest whatsoever in learning to play bass any better, lol.
After the song, not only picks and drumsticks were thrown, those T-shirts were thrown as well.
In conclusion, it was an AWESOME live. Yes, maybe I've seen better setlists. Yes, maybe I've heard better MCs. But it was so awesome to see and hear more from Satochi. To see him and to see how the members acted towards him in such a central position. Yes, Satochi is my favourite so duh but I've heard Muckers with other favourites say the same. I'm just so happy I could go to this concert you have no idea.
