I wish they had established better earlier on that Sam was a total loser (affectionate) who had no friends or family besides Jay because getting to watch her make friends with the ghosts but also the ghosts causing her to make social blunders with livings would have made so much more impact. Like in the episode with her mom where we get to see Hetty fill that roll.

I wanna see Sam mourning family recipes (despite and maybe in part due to Jay's talents and own family recipes) and the ghosts stepping in to teach her things. Sas and Flower taking her into the woods to pick berries and make jam like Flower's abuela taught her when she was a kid. Hetty never needed to mend but she was taught how and she teaches Sam when her favorite sweater gets snagged during a Ghost Thing or helps to repair some antique curtains in the b&b. Pete and Thor taking her on a "family camping trip" on the property and teaching her how to start fires and build shelters and they all swap stories. Alberta teaching her the songs from when she was little, old songs her family passed down. Maybe pieces of history that had previously been lost to the livings that Sam can reintroduce.

And eventually a living in the community needs something and Sam has that skill, or could barter jam for something for the restaurant and she makes a real connection with other livings and it's really obvious that it was thanks to the ghosts not only did she learn that specific skill, but she learned how to people, too.

dont mind me just thinking about how flower. just thinking about how she was alone in the room when she lost michael. just thinking about how she didn't cry, just held his hand. just thinking about how in one foul swoop she lost everything. just thinking about how cults don't just prey on vulnerable people, but useful people, smart people. just thinking about the kinds of things she might have turned to when looking for an explanation as to why this happened. just thinking about how maybe she did have a drug problem early on but she was a genuinely good and kind person who loved the world and wanted to help people. just thinking about how she was smart enough to get into law school. just thinking about how flower is a prime example of how smart people can get roped into cults. just thinking about how she was engaged. just thinking about how she was just about to graduate. just thinking about when she finally got out of the cult her brother was gone. just thinking about how she had the best idea for what to do with the money they stole, but died before she ever could. just thinking about how she could see kindness everywhere, even in the bear that killed her. just thinking about her spending her whole afterlife in a horrible cycle of forgetting and remembering and forgetting all over again. just thinking about her being so close yet so far from everything she ever wanted.
