No one would ever truly understand the vulnerability he showed to Beth, how, for perhaps the first time in his life, he allowed himself to be nurtured, comforted, and held while he was hurting. Her kindness gave him a safe space, letting him feel comfortable enough to be himself and lower his guard. It’s so beautiful to see him being protective, caring, and even a little silly without worrying about others watching. No one will ever understand how this was Daryl discovering that vulnerability is a strength in itself, and that kindness is something worth holding on to, rather than just clinging to bitterness. It's so beautiful to see how she showed him the way of the path he decided to follow.

He threw her a smirk that slowly turned into a smile as her eyes widened in a silent plea for rescue. Holding up the pack of cigarettes, he inclined his head towards the balcony door and mouthed for her to meet him outside before he pushed his way a little more eagerly towards the door. Just as he slid the door open and stepped out into the chill December air, he watched Beth’s reflection as she excused herself. He felt the anticipation crackle through his blood as he placed a cigarette to his lips and lit it, inhaling deeply and feeling the buzz of the nicotine hit at the same time as he heard the door slide open again behind him. He turned and reached to close the door behind Beth as she stepped out onto the balcony to join him with two glasses of champagne in her hands.

A little later than I intended but her's my contribution to @ultimatebethylficlist New Year's Eve prompt 'Glitter'. It's also my first try at writing smut and I'm actually really proud of how this one turned out! Happy belated New Year everyone ❤️✨
