୨୧ ：aah! finally getting to this hehehh.. I would have gotten to it sooner! but I need to be in an awfully specific mood to write angst.. tis odd! also! no cherry on top!!?!?! smh… /silly sprinkles are great though, sounds delicious mmmm..

1　 ﹒　Despising pain so much is quite a struggle when your brain has so much hatred towards yourself it begins to physically hurt, they say that once you grow hungry enough, you begin to eat your own heart. Dazai doesn’t have one of those, last he checked. So instead, his body begins to sacrifice his mindset for one of a much, much younger person.

It’s scary, even scarier when your anxiety is running rampant and rapid, coursing through your veins at an all time high. Vulnerability shouldn’t be such a scary thing, but when your most memorable experience with such is having your arms sliced open on a vivisection table, and tubes shoved down your throat, you begin to despise letting people see you as so.. small.

It’s even worse when you mentally feel so little, and the world around you begins to look like tall, scary faces, watching your every move.

2　 ﹒　Being oh so used to tainting all that he touches is rather tough, I feel as if he’s broken a pacifier before and had an absolute panic attack, god forbid someone allows him to hold a cup whilst he’s somewhat fuzzy, things will begin to blur the lines between sitting in Mori’s office, and being right in front of his caregiver.

3　 ﹒　When he betrayed the Port Mafia, he lost Chuuya. I wouldn’t entirely say that Chuuya was his “caregiver”, due to their oh so complicated relationship, but I would say that Chuuya was the closest thing he’s ever had to one. They’re both rotten, but that doesn’t entirely matter when you feel so sweet next to one another.

Whenever Dazai would begin to wish for him by his side, he would grow so much self hatred, how could he want something? How could he ever allow himself that treat of comfort, when he’s done nothing but be an awful, awful human being(? Is he even that, anymore?) towards both himself, and everyone around him.

He’s been biting and snapping at others for so long, that he’s begun to forget he, too, was bitten himself. That sorrow that taints him is a product of another person, who cherished him, yet only for his inability to feel cherished, and understand emotions in the first place, for that matter.

4　 ﹒　After time, if he ever began to feel even a little more comfortable in that state, he would begin to have extreme night terrors of his regression. He would begin to despise it, anything that brings him comfort should be banished, after-all. If he had a specific love for a certain toy or drink or stuffie, he would cry himself to sleep in a corner without it, all in punishment for existing in the first place.

If whatever god is out there created Dazai with the purpose of making a self loathing success of a black hole, destined to be hungry for love whilst tainting those around him, for all of eternity, they certainly are a master in their field.

1　 ﹒　Kaoru is very keen on doing pretty little drawings and simple calligraphy when he’s regressed, Kojiro enjoys watching him create gorgeous pieces, no matter if he’s in the mindset of a kid. ( might I add that Kaoru taught him how to do it quite a few times, whilst regressed. ) ( Kojiro still sucks. )

2　 ﹒　Light and simple bickering is always the norm, it’s usually brought up from Kaoru referring to Kojiro as dumb, or something along those lines. Other times it’s Kojiro teasing and taunting the little, all in good fun!

3　 ﹒　Kaoru being super picky over what he eats when he’s little as opposed to being content with practically anything when he’s big resonates with me, I can fully imagine him doing it out of pure spite. However, when he’s feeling littler than usual, life’s far too simple to entirely care.

4　 ﹒　Kaoru enjoys having his hair played with when he’s regressed, so, he’s taught Kojiro all sorts of hairstyles to put into his hair and how to properly care for them.

5　 ﹒　The prince of losing something and then crying about it. It’s gotten to the point Carla has a tracker for all of his little gear.

1　 ﹒　Awfully protective, often times frighteningly so. He will always try his best not to scare you, though, no matter how naturally it comes.

2　 ﹒　He may not be the greatest at following along with your little stories, especially if you’re one to twist the plot and roles whenever you deem fit, but he’s more than willing to listen along quietly whilst he does his own thing.

3　 ﹒　If you were to ask as nicely as possible, he might just let you paint his nails for him, and he will be damned before he lets someone ruin the polish painted on by his baby, no matter how messy or colourful, it sticks with him.

4　 ﹒　Definitely would enjoy reading you older stories, the only flaw in this is his inability to pick suitable stories for someone of your mindset.

1　 ﹒　Kunikida is very self-sustained when he’s little, I imagine he doesn’t fully let himself drop most of the time. When it’s necessary, he has no trouble in asking another person from the agency for assistance. (I fear he would put it awfully simple for them, but he still wouldn’t be entirely comfortable with their aid.)

2　 ﹒　If we’re being completely honest, he would document everything. His needs, wants, interests, dislikes, an adequate nap time, when exactly he should eat, each persons skill in caregiving, etc. I believe Dazai has snooped through those things quite a few times, and often flexes how well he knows little Kunikida. ( as if. )

3　 ﹒　Very keen on schedule! If he were to wake up regressed, no matter how old he’s feeling, he’d HAVE to at least try to fulfill it. I imagine he’d fumble over brushing his teeth and using his phone to check in on Dazai, so much so that he often times throws a small fit.

4　 ﹒　At some point, he’s tried to do his work whilst little, despite knowing better. It definitely didn’t take long before someone noticed his change in attitude and devotion. “Heeeyy, Kunikida..?” “Mm..?” “Couldn’t help but notice you’re chewing on your sleeve..!” “… So wha’..”

5　 ﹒　I honestly. really think he’d be a ticklish kiddo… like. like awfully ticklish. that’s it that’s the headcannon.

1　 ﹒　Miles is 100% a baby regressor, in my mind, it’s the most calming state for him. Regressing to an “older” age probably leads to anxiety, especially when he remembers that incident. Which, more often than not, leads to an anxiety attack.

2　 ﹒　There’s no way in my mind he wasn’t at least somewhat regressed during that scene when the earthquake occurred, it was definitely terrifying for the little guy to be in a jail cell whilst feeling like a baby, and it absolutely took him a few minutes to collect himself off of the floors.

3　 ﹒　“Accidents” (is it really an accident if you’re just a baby..?) definitely were frequent for Miles whenever he had those consistent nightmares, every night he’d wake up panicked, sometimes regressed, sometimes not, however, after a while, it became so consistent that he decided extra protection was best.

4　 ﹒　Franziska had probably walked in on Miles regressed a few times, it’s always been extremely embarrassing for him, stressful, too, unsure of whether or not she would tell Manfred.

5　 ﹒　However, after a while, she probably found a small comfort in it, herself. Playing with her brother who was usually oh so reclusive was amazing!

6　 ﹒　Gumshoe was, basically, the first person to know about his regression. The first person he admitted it to, anyway. He most definitely has taken on somewhat of a caregiving role to him, too. Gumshoe is his sanctuary, in a way.

7　 ﹒　I wouldn’t say Miles is restricted to simply night time padding, either. Whenever he’s regressed, he needs it. He’s had quite a few accidents during earthquakes and loud sounds.

8　 ﹒　All in all, Miles is just a little guy who needs a little comfort and understanding.

1　 ﹒　Dazai and Ranpo skipping work for something pointless is not uncommon one bit, it’s simply harder to come up with reasons to skip out on work when you feel like a kid!

2　 ﹒　Sitting at a desk and filling out reports for hours at a time is no fun, Dazai’s well aware of that! It’s much much easier to simply have Kunikida do it, and of course, if he regresses, Kunikida wouldn’t have the heart to be mad at him for it this time, right?

3　 ﹒　So, slipping out was easy! Of course people would suspect something, but that’s not his problem! And it doesn’t take much longer for him to bump into a colleague of his, yes yes, a super respectable detective, one with a pacifier in his hand, one who seems shocked to see him.

4　 ﹒　Wasn’t it Ranpo who said that everything’s… predictable.. or something? For once, this made little sense to Dazai, and it didn’t matter much to him anyway, he needed somewhere secure to hide out.

5　 ﹒　But! Before Dazai can leave, Ranpo stops him with a proposal, something about showing him to the store so they can get as much candy as they’d like. At first, Dazai’s hesitant, he’s not sure if he deserves candy in the first place, and he’s almost certain it’s beginning to bleed out onto the mask he’s put up, that hesitance that the Dazai everyone knows wouldn’t usually hold.

6　 ﹒　It doesn’t take much longer for Ranpo to assure him, even less for him to persuade the other that it will be fun.

7　 ﹒　However, once they take their first step outside, the cold air brushes against their faces, stinging their noses pink, and out comes Kunikida!

2　 ﹒　Kunikida has definitelyyyy gotten mad at them before when he wasn’t aware they were regressed methinks, definitely led to him hugging them for an hour straight rubbing up and down their backs gently. Like that one Gordon Ramsey meme.

3　 ﹒　Kunikida keeps notes of all of their interests, how old they regress to, everything in his notebook, he would be such an attentive caregiver. You just gotta let him know! ( which those two fail to do time and time again )

4　 ﹒　Ranpo & Dazai are definitely puzzle lovers when they’re regressed, it always leaves Dazai impressed when Ranpo solves them super quickly.

1　 ﹒　One hand running through An’s soft and smooth hair is always enough to calm the little from crying, Haruka has noticed this fact since the two were kids, it plays into the drifting lullabies Haruka sings to her nowadays whenever the two are regressed, as well.

2　 ﹒　An has a habit of placing the little star clips into Haruka’s hair whenever she’s not looking, and it leaves A giggling for the rest of the day, waiting patiently for her to notice. If she doesn’t, An makes a point of making it a little too obvious.

3　 ﹒　Two extremely active kiddos is not a great recipe for a calming afternoon for whoever’s watching them, Kohane often has a field day attempting to get the two to take a nap.

4　 ﹒　Haruka has introduced An to all of her penguins, they all have names, of course! The two have spent multiple afternoons sorting through them and playing with them whilst giggling.

5　 ﹒　An LOVES painting Haruka’s nails, however, when regressed, her stable hands begin to falter and shake, often leaving the both of their hands absolutely covered in nail polish.

1　 ﹒　I feel as if, when little, Ichika’s obsession towards the queen, the legend, her idol, Hatsune Miku only intensifies. It doesn’t take long for her to start babbling about her whilst tugging on Shiho’s sleeves. It also doesn’t take very long for them to end up in the SEKAI, next to a very clueless (and let’s face it, not.. entirely great at caretaking!) (she’s trying!) Miku.

2　 ﹒　Shiho enjoys her alone time, but she doesn’t like being… alone alone. She likes having someone’s presence around her, but doing her own thing, y’know?! However, if Ichika needs it, she doesn’t mind listening to her giggles over Miku.

3　 ﹒　Shiho is rather non-verbal when little, often times too tired to speak, and other times just.. unable to. It makes her a very great listener.

4　 ﹒　I fear the two of them often times just jam it out on the kitty instruments, the Vocaloids are forced to listen to their symphony of meows and light, sheepish giggles.

5　 ﹒　A light smooch on the cheek and a flustered batting away is always expected from the two of them, childhood crushes and dumbed-down relationships made up over sharing a bag of gushers are the norm for these kiddos.

1　 ﹒　I wouldn’t say he’s entirely fond of regressing, it simply happens when it happens, it’s only ever truly an issue when in the face of a battle or conflict.

2　 ﹒　His age definitely varies, not that he entirely understands it anyway. I’d say he’s mostly a younger kid regressor, sometimes being older.

3　 ﹒　So long as the price is right, he’ll take up a commission, of course. I’d say he’s had quite a few moments where he’s had to hold his breath whilst hiding from a rather scary monster. It’s not that he’s afraid, no, of course not! It’s simply.. everything seems so much bigger in that mindset. He’ll still take it on, and perhaps leave scathed, but so what?

4　 ﹒　I’d say being out in the wilderness is quite terrifying for little Kinich, much more when he’s alone. Fighting and screaming definitely sends him over the edge, too, leading to silent sobs and mumbled pleas.

5　 ﹒　All in all, Kinich had so much to do as a kid, that, now, it’s best he simply naps and receives the comfort he deserves.
