I guess I’ll add a still shot of the finished Gemini piece. Whoops. I’m over here catching up my tumblr and didn’t realize this shit is all out of sequence. Oh well. It doesn’t really matter in the grand scheme of things. It’s art! And it’s here!

Some fleurs on a weeknight, out on the side porch during a rain storm. Fun fact: the insane humidity brought out all of the imperfections in the paper, but gave it kind of a cool texture. The dark spots in the border and flowers.

First draft of a piece I’m doing for a friend’s daughter. I’m going to try again using colored inks instead of watercolors. I don’t love how grainy the highly pigmented areas look once they dry. I love the black outlining though! This piece is a combo of two different artist’s work I found on Pinterest: Silver Wings Art and adrenalinetattoos

Stained glass hot mess. Next time I think I’ll pick a color theme and stick with it. Got the idea from @Leslie.writes.it.all on Instagram. Hers are obviously waaayyyy better lol. She’s totally rad at color gradient work. I’ll keep working on my colors!

Inspired by a piece in the SilentArch shop on Etsy. I think I’ll do a series of these to hang in our bar area! Seems fun. I love how simple they are. I also love the look of line work, but am often hesitant to put lines on my paintings. This proves I shouldn’t be!

More feathers because 1) I’m sort of obsessed, and 2) someone requested one so I did another. Sure, I could have just given her the one she saw and liked, but I am also partial to that one lol. And it was the first, so it’s the only one that feels truly original. Plus she wanted it bigger! So yeah! Ok time to switch it up to something else. I am wanting to paint again, so that’s a step in the right direction. I’ll do better this week! Stay tuned.....

Finally back in the saddle!! I sort of lost inspiration (and discipline) for the last several weeks, but I’m getting back into the swing of things. Spring is inspiring. Hopefully.

My two favorite spring plants are bright-ass yellow: daffodils and forsythia! My only beef with the forsythia is how huge and unmanageable they become by the end of summer. Worth it for how beautiful they are in spring though. #pruningfordays #watercoloradventure2018 #watercolor #forsythia

I absolutely shit the bed on 20 hours/month watercolor work. I needed some sketch practice, so that’s what I did tonight. In my life drawing classes we used to do 10 second sketches of a whole human person posing. It was about capturing the basic shapes and not thinking about it too much. I spent a good hour on that first detailed one. Then maybe 45 seconds on the 2nd. And a minute and a half or so on the bottom drawing. I forgot how much easier it is to capture shapes when you aren’t analyzing the hell out of them.

#2 for this evening. Weeknights are hard, but I set a goal to spend 20 hours/month on watercolor, and dammit I am so close!

Ok technically not watercolor.... but my brush lettering is coming along! Once I learn the technique by hand, I’ll start to do it using paintbrushes.
