A recent pick from a local gun store - Colt LE6920/M4 Carbine, 2015 dated

At first my mind briefly wandered through all the potential clones to make with it, I've since discovered an appreciation for just how simple it is.

I love all my clones to death, but this boring-ass factory default Colt rifle made me find joy in the mediocrity - a nostalgia for something I might have seen dozens of times in a Sportsman's Guide or Cabela's magazine back in the day tucked amidst all the cringy zombie-themed parts and block 1 SOPMOD wannabes.

A rifle so plain and unassuming it actually makes me love it. This is a rifle I care about but yet have no high stakes or grand investments put into it. There was absolutely zero struggle involved in acquiring this rifle other than cleaning off the factory cosmoline.

The CAG clones I'm working on might be my pride and joy, but I still see them more as functional museum pieces. This basicbitch M4? I love it for completely different reasons. This rifle gives no bullshit and you know exactly what you're getting out of it from just a glance.

A gun without $2000 of rare and discontinued accessories is just one you feel all the more confident using. This is a rifle with nothing to hide.

tl;dr - low-key mad cause this boring-ass mid-2000's cop rifle might be the happiest I've ever been over a gun lmao

tuesday - wednesday

gf's mom wants us to go out tomorrow.

but chances are i don't make it. sleeping too much. but i'm tired now and it's only almost 2 and i'll be quick, i didn't remember enough of a dream to write it down but some things i recall now:

grandma's house, her couch, sitting, and then somewhere else in time either before or long after, the drive through for carl's jr. and getting a lot of french fries and really begging for a milkshake in my gf's mom's car. outside was so saturated it felt plastic or the way old photos inside target looked, old 00s advertisements inside the target. everything bright and friendly. super-consumerist.

such an odd dream to have, freakish that my craving for french fries did that to me. i didn't get as many as i wanted today... but that is fine. i don't need to eat that much.

wonder what my gf will see tomorrow w/ all the chinese new year stuff, her mom seems really excited about that, which is new, she's usually never excited about anything like that. i guess it's just something to do, maybe she has been around people she's not able to be 'smart' with as much, she talks about that a lot, having to be dumber for people like her son and husband, maybe her son's 18 year old girl friend, also.

not much more to add, i did some music stuff today, finished some riffs + bass for one song, and then finished up the majority of another, now there's drums to add, i think that one will be the closer of the next thing i put out, so i have opener decided, 3rd track decided (supposedly a very important thing), and then closer.

this is very pretty, emotionally reminds me of llorando... in mullholland drive... basic of me, i'm sure, but it does kind of hit that. maybe it's like anohni (is that how you spell it... #clueless), but i never really listened to anohni. lucy's got a really nice voice, and the subtle synth stuff is very beautiful. i tend to check out what my friend masters since it's always at least very good sounding, there's a record she worked on that i need to hear all of.

the autotune in this song is really shocking, really great stuff happening with all the voices wow, this is special probably. i will hopefully remember to listen to this when it comes out.

i know i say this every couple weeks, or... well i don't but i feel like i do, odd how that goes, but i want to do more flickr digging soon. soon... soon... but tomorrow i'm either gonna wake up early enough to get out of the house, or be stuck home alone. maybe i'll record? great way to fuck myself up after just getting well... #genius.
