maybe an hour ? definitely just one sitting :')
it was done in my journal (which has really shitty paper), so i had to go full pigment & basically use my watercolours like gouache to minimise water damaging the paper, which i think helps me to lay less colour & stop working on things so much :']

#for something more serious with NICE™ paper if probably do an underpainting first :]#i find them really helpful; gets your shadows in so when you lay your colour you can do it in cleaner smoother washes#prevents muddying. prevents paper damage. and the underpainting gives depth to the colour 😎#to clarify this painting of the hakea did not have an underpainting 🫡 shes just thick pigment#comments 💖
