one of my beloved friends (very autism) was in.. not denial but ignorance sounds mean. but that abt themself last time you brought up the raads r test so i sent it to the gc (full of autism) and they were like psh. fake test no one could get below 100. they know now but i think about it so much

The thing is. When you take the autism test. And you see your score is in the 100 to 160 range. You think. Oh this is probably the middle? Middle autism. Tinge of autism. Your relatives calling you bright but shy autism. Just a whiff of autism. And then you see the score ranges. And you go. This test is lying to me there is absolutely no way the majority of people score under 65. The 65 number is such a low cutoff and so many of these experiences are clearly universal a score under 65 is something they made up in a lab. People who score under 65 are obviously scoring just under that mark from 59 to 64 and they’re also obviously lying or purposely misrepresenting their experiences as less severe than they are. And then you find out there are real people who get a 20 or 30 or 7 on it. And you go. Ah

Comfort movie: Howl’s Moving Castle, My Big Fat Greek Wedding, The Sound of Music, Steel Magnolias. 

Comfort food: Thai red Curry, alfredo pasta, burgers. 

Comfort clothing: In terms of what I feel the prettiest in, definitely a well constructed flowy dress, or a skirt with a top. Additionally, I like to wear graphic sweaters with stuff I like paired with biker shorts.

Comfort book: I reread books on occasion but when I’m going through it I always love ripping through a new and engaging story. I am very fond of Tell the Wolves I’m home by Carol Rifka Brunt though. Please write another book dear lady.

Nothing

“What Order!?” Connor cried. “There was nothing left to salvage! Nothing! What was left of the ‘Order’ had been replaced by bunch of lyrium-addled addicts blindly following anyone in control of their leash without pausing once to question why!” The torches in the room flared with Connor’s emotions, the room thick with building magic. He stormed away to the abandoned stack of his templar armor in the corner and kicked the breastplate, sending it clattering loudly across the floor in a shower of sparks.

Candle

“I did not chose this,” he told Mother Giselle. The two of them stood in one of the alcoves of Haven’s chantry, candlelight faintly illuminating the statue of Andraste they stood beneath. “The sword does not ask to be forged,” Giselle replied. “You cannot blame yourself for the deaths at the Conclave.” “I do not have the capacity to feel guilt, Mother Giselle. I only state the truth of the matter. I am a victim of circumstance, nothing more.”

Wish

Connor tilted his head slightly, but remained otherwise silent. He didn’t know how to help anymore; they were down to hardly a day’s worth of lyrium between the two of them, and they had to make that little bit stretch as long as they possibly could. “We can make an attempt to bargain with some of the rebel templars, if you wish,” he finally offered, standing to retrieve the forlorn waterskin now resting a few feet away. Weston raised a hand and waved the suggestion away. “No, we really shouldn’t.” “I can go alone then. The withdrawal is beginning to have a negative effect on you, and we stand no chance of survival if we both cannot fight—” “Absolutely not!” Weston cut him off abruptly.  “Connor, you know the risks. They would declare you a mage and murder you on the spot. These men calling themselves templars are nothing but bloodthirsty murderers wearing our armor as an excuse to do whatever they please, Maker’s will or not. Damn it, damn them, damn this war…” He trailed off, his knuckles turning white from how tightly he gripped the hilt of his sword.

WIP Wednesday

I have been re-reading a lot of my past fics, and the other day I really enjoyed the little series I had written from prompts last year, all very silly and lighthearted stories depicting Cassandra’s competitive streak, and Loryen and her companions thrown into silly sporting events in Skyhold as a result.

A while ago, my dear friend Moral had mentioned I should write another one, using Pétanque, a French sport of boules, as one of the games they could try but I never got around to it. 

But I was thinking about it today and here is a first draft of an idea I jotted down today, which might become another addition to the Seeker’s Leagues!

“And zat, Madame Seeker, iz what we call la pétanque.”

As accustomed  as Loryen was to orlesian accents, she still struggled to understand the set of rules the man had just enunciated and when he finished talking, she was trying to get her head around the last word. It wasn’t anything Sabine, her orlesian nanny or Gabrielle, her aunt residing in Val Chevin, had ever mentioned.

Cassandra, however, seemed to have understood every word of the heavily-accented man, and was satisfied with the answer to her query. More than satisfied, even, judging by the slightly feverish look on  her face. 

A look that Loryen recognised all too well… With a resigned shake of her head, she heard Cassandra ask another question.

“So thirteen points is a win?“

Favorite color: I have a few of them, actually… black, pomegranate, and blush. Kingfisher blue is also becoming a favorite lately, thanks to some recent portrait practice  

Currently reading: The Tale of Genji by Murasaki Shikibu, The Romance of Tristan and Iseult, and the Shahnameh (The Epic of Kings) by Ferdowsi. Genji’s close friendship with To no Chujo has been lovely to read thus far, very wholesome and brotherly.

Last song: ‘Habibi’ by Tamino, which @rakshadow shared with me. 

Last series: I’m currently watching Nirvana in Fire at the moment. It’s set in 6th century China, and follows a wronged general’s path to justice as he and his friend, the prince, navigate the corrupt royal court to overturn the court case and prove the general, his family, and all of his soldiers were framed for treason. There’s a lot of intrigue, strategy, and plotting going on, but the show is very well done, and does a great job in presenting the material in a succinct, easy-to-follow manner. I’m looking forward to reading the novel it’s based on.

Last movie: The Princess and the Matchmaker, a South Korean period romantic comedy-drama. The King is pressuring the Princess to marry, but there’s a problem–the candidates might match her astrology birth chart, but their personalities are very incompatible with the Princess as a person. So she runs away and goes on a quest to find the man she truly loves.

Sweet/savory/spicy: I don’t eat sugar, but love sweets.  I have been really using the blender this summer, making fruit smoothies and sorbet with organic protein powder and almond milk. It comes out really nice and thick, just like ice cream, but without all the calories!  

Currently working on: Uni and work have taken up a lot of my time lately, but I’ve been working on art pieces and writing on my breaks. I’m rotating between Songstress, DADWC writing prompts, and my novel, Passaggio.

Favorite Color: Purple, black, white, red, yellow, and blue of all shades.

Currently Reading: I wouldn’t say reading but listening since I hadn’t had time to sit and read. I’ve been listening to a lot of Michael Moorcock audiobooks and one of them I’ve been listening to most: The Singing Citadel and the Vanishing Tower trilogy. These are amazing books and I highly recommend them.

Last Song: Joan Crawford by Blue Öyster Cult

Last Series: It was Tekken: Bloodline on Netflix. Holy crap, that show was super cool. It had some flaws but overall it was amazing! Highly recommend that as well if you’re a big Tekken nerd.

Last movie: The only one I can recall is Aliens (the second movie). That movie was pretty cool and I didn’t expect the actor from Terminator to be in it.

Sweet/savory/spicy: Sweet and savory, but not together.

Currently Working on: It feels like it’s been forever and I just felt so ashamed of, not only how long I take but also that I’m basically rewriting my longfic. The name I’m still sorta working on, but overall it’s the same idea of the fic just much more in detail, like if I actually relaxed and took my time with it. But I am hopeful it will be done by October. Hopefully.

Currently reading: What I'm currently reading to the kidlets is 'East of the Sun and West of the Moon', which is actually a compilation containing that story and other folk tales (and just happens to have my favourite variant of The Three Billy Goats Gruff, which I could probably do a reading of if anyone cares to hear my ridiculous goat voices 🤣). Finished my rewatch of #Babylon5 , 10 years (-ish?) apart from the last time I watched it (thank you Mr. Straczynski and HBO 😎) and all I could think of is "I need mor B5 memes".

Here goes a post to try to convince you of watching it.

Through this rewatch, there were many laughs and some tears.

I NEED to find nice Z'ha'dum memes or at least a fun compilation of all the times everybody said "Do not go to Z'ha'dum" to #Sheridan.

Must say I loved the scripts' consistency, quite remarkable! The overall care for the characters' arc and layers 👌🏼 And the guest writers (cheff kiss). I mean; Neil Gaiman's ep? Absolutely stunning 😁

Guest stars were fun to catch too.

Londo battling bugs is me battling bugs at home. Exact same exaggeration 🤭😂 Great Maker !!

It got a little "too military" for me at some points but I truly watched it for the philosophic/religious/comic/life-centric tone and the non-human centric approach. I always got a nice sense of diversity and (linguistic / gender) representation from this series, even the first time I watched it many years ago. -Within the boundaries of the time and the network- Well done 💟

RIP Mira Furlan, what a great actress she was. And what a life. Many B5 actors and actresses have gone beyond the rim, sadly, but I really felt Mira's recent passing :(

What I like about this series is that it tells us a deep story about values, imperfect beings, human and non-human alike. Life is the center value, but in the struggle there is a lot of death, darkness, treasons, wars and horrible deeds conducted by governments or corporations to peoples; or among individuals.

We get some nice ideas on life, death, language, culture, politics, loyalty, religion, philosophy, technology, and social (in)justice.

The future is all around us, waiting in moments of transition to be born in moments of revelation. No one knows the shape of the future or where it will take us. We know only that it is always born in pain. — J. Michael Straczynski.

We get to know some very interesting characters, like Zathras. No-one listens to poor Zathras, but us the viewers get a privileged view-point 🤭😁 I think Zathras must be one of the most beloved side charcters of B5.

We got reintroduced to one sci-fi actor we already knew from Trek. In this case, a nice, complex and cold psi-villain👨🏻‍✈️

A final note on Straczynski, Michael O' Hare and mental health struggles >> here. RIP Michael.
