#I stand with IsraelI have an ecclectic taste so my interests vary. Someday I might put my own art/writing/etc on here. For now, I'm just reblogging & jotting down my opninion and thoughts.

Where does the inspiration go?
I have an urge to write or draw. I pull up the documents on my computer and then just stare at the half done chapter or the few paragraphs and it's gone. The same when I get my drawing materials out and open my sketchbook and then nothing comes to me.
Anyone else have that happened to them? Any clues why/how that happens and how to fix that to where you can get back to creating?

The word "arr" is considered an acceptable alternative to "yes." But did pirates really talk like that? The answer is "not really." Our concept of piratical speech stems mainly from a series of memorable performances by the actor Robert Newton. He appeared in several films and TV shows as a pirate, playing such characters as Long John Silver in a Disney adaptation of "Treasure Island" and the dreaded Edward Teach, better known as Blackbeard in "Blackbeard, the Pirate." You can hear Newton in the clip below:
youtube
Newton was born in Dorset, England. Dorset is in the West Country, the southwest corner of Britain. The dialect in that region contains many of the elements we associate with pirate speech. For example, it's common to hear a hard "r" in words spoken by people from the West Country.Newton's performances became iconic. It didn't take long before his West Country accent became the de facto pirate speech. Scholars, however, don't think his portrayal was particularly accurate.

I think I recall an interview where he talked about that.
Damn I just saw someone say JRRT writing
“And so Bilbo returned to Bag end. But he never truly went home.”
And brought up how jrrt was in WW1 and probably felt that way,
And how in lord of the rings he’s “mad” and an “outcast” and ya know…those poor soldiers from WW1 with “shell shock” before we knew what post traumatic stress disorder was.
It made me sad.

I was reading this and just look how tiny they made Sarutobi at first! He's barely the size of the graduating 12 year olds! I highly doubt he's sitting at the moment either.

Why an apple?
This is something I have always wondered. Why whenever the forbidden fruit from the Bible is mentioned it's always represented as an apple? Is it because apples are known globally basically by the same name unlike other fruits and vegetables? When we were cut off from the garden, we weren't allowed to eat from the Tree of Knowledge ever again. And when the flood happened you can be sure that that tree and its fruit along with the fruit from the Tree of Life also perished. While other fruits and vegetables were saved on the ark. As the apple survived I'm pretty sure that wasn't the actual forbidden fruit.

Going back to a Hobbit-trilogy-portrait for this post in my series of sharing coffee paintings. This time it's Ori's turn 🥰
It isn't my most remarkable work, and I was a bit pressed for time, but at least he's recognisable 😂 I gifted the original to Adam Brown. He was very happy with it! I met him a year or two later, and he remembered me - he had just come across the painting at his house among other gifts he'd received, and was telling his Mum it was painted "with tea, or something" 🤣
Painted with instant coffee, rather than tea, on heavyweight paper 😁

What is with some people wanting everything to be free? I only really go on Facebook to check up on family and that's it. And also see what's up with Pirate101 since the devs just post what's new like Free Membership week, Double Pet XP for a few days, etc. For answers to questions I have I usually go take a look at Reddit or something since I don't have discord or twitch or whatever else it seems people have where they actually communicate with the KI crew. Yes, I know I'm an odd duck that the only social media I have is Tumblr and Facebook.
It seems ever since the last free membership week, a person named John keeps leaving a comment on the FB posts with "Free Membership" or a varying wording of it. I've seen other people complain before too and it seems they have no concept or understanding how much it costs to maintain a MMORPG.
From what I understand one of the reasons Pirate101 hasn't been getting updates either and no new worlds and skyways is due to coding. The original coders don't work there any longer and they are afraid they will muck up stuff. Obvious with the copy paste job they did for the latest dungeons.
Yeah, it would be great if we could have more of Skull Island free rather then just up to Manny's quest when you hit Blood Shoals. However, I can see why they only have it up to that point. By the time you hit Blood Shoals you can have a basic feel and grasp of the game. Enough to know if you want to keep playing or say, "Nah, I'm good."
