Let me tell you a story, a story of perseverance. This path of self- employment in the dog game wasn’t easy. I had my share of detractors. From family to friends and the others that told me to get a job and just be happy living paycheck to paycheck. One person in particular stood out, my high school counselor Dr. Ford.

I didn’t like school too much bouncing from one high school to another. I missed a lot of days and ditched many more so some fault lies on me. But a counselor should do everything possible to encourage a young man to fulfill their every possibilities.

It wasn’t that I didn’t tried talking to her about what I was doing. I shared with her my passion in dogs, my accomplishments in the sport of Shutzhund and the possibilities that came with sticking to training dogs.

Dr. Ford wasn’t listening she would tell me I wouldn’t amount to anything. Stay home if I didn’t like school. This little dog gig isn’t going to give me a career. Instead she’d flaunt her yearly salary, degrees, and where she travels instead of listening, encouraging what I was doing.

I’m not about to sneak diss this post is for you, Dr. Ford 🖕🏽I followed my dreams, created businesses and became self made all the while being a high school dropout. School isn’t for everybody, I realized that early on but when you dream BIG, set goals you can accomplish anything you set your mind to. Just do you!

Are white Boxers genetically inferior

White Boxers dogs are more common than breeders would want you to believe. 1 in every 4 puppies are born white. Genetically all lines of Boxers carry the gene that produces the white coloration.

Some of the foundation dogs like Ch. Blanka v. Angertor, a foundation bitch for the breed was in fact all white. We are led to believe that the cause of the White coloration in Boxers is from Albinism.

The definition of Albinism is a human or animal being congenitally deficient in pigment and usually has translucent skin, white or colorless hair and eyes with pink or blue iris. White boxers are not the result of any genetic birth defect; they are genetically normal dogs who have white fur.

Deafness is an issue with White Boxer dogs as opposed to a Fawn or Brindle variety as 8% of them are born deaf. Much similar to the possible genetic issues that affects the Dalmatian breed. No clinical evidence has been recorded showing any differences from a Boxer dog of standard coloration.

Another issue is the higher chances of developing skin issues over its lifetime.

Up until 2005 the American Boxer Club shunned the white boxer and encouraged culling as well as not allowing them to be registered. AKC backed up these ideals for many years. As of recent, AKC still does not recognize the use of white boxers for breeding, they do offer Limited Registration and will assign the dog an AKC number for use in performance events, such as obedience and agility.

Something to note; White Boxers were registered in Germany until 1925. Its is believed but unconfirmed what started the controversy was that White Boxer dogs used in police work were more visible at night and therefore less suitable for guard work and for this reason Germany banned the breeding and eliminated the registration of the white boxer as to eradicate them from the gene pool.

Let’s be real, you wouldn't know what is being said unless you learn the language and you’ll be able to communicate, right?

So for you new dog owners use this same analogy. How do you suppose your dog to understand a word you are saying when they don't know your language.

Train your dog and you’ll be able to communicate.

Nobody comes out the same after owning a dog. The majority of us will have great memories and feel good moments about our pets While others may not share the same sentiments….. Whatever your experience may be, it’s on you to make the most out of the short time you have with your dog. It’s unfair to place the blame on a dog that was never taught what is expected of it, blame yourself. Could you have done more, trained better, been more consistent, a better owner, more patient. . . Although these words ring true to the wonderful disposition of a dog, it is widely believed that William Shakespeare himself despised them. . . He mentioned the word DOGS hundreds of times in many of his plays mostly using the word as a metaphor as when he coined the phrases "dog will have his day" or "Cry Havoc and let slip the dogs of war" . . The impression from the numerous references Shakespeare made to dogs, is that, they were nothing but a nuisances in him. He believed dogs were dirty, dangerous, and not to be trusted even when they were being friendly. With partial exception of hound dogs that LORDS and ROYALS hunted with, he had very little use of dogs aside from utilizing them metaphorically in his writings. . . Not much is known about Shakespeare's private life, but some have said he suffered a mauling from a dog at some point or maybe he never had a positive interaction with dogs. . . In the 16th and 17th centuries, Shakespearean England was known for its Gruesome Blood Sports involving animals. A popular sport was Bear Baiting, where a Bear is chained to his neck, de-clawed and dogs were let loose to attack and bring down the animal. It was believed that Queen Elizabeth I herself made appearances at the vicious spectacles. 6 years ago today I posted this picture. Being that Veteran’s day was Friday 11/11/22 it wasn’t a coincidence that I scroll down to see this. . I met this WW2 vet Bill and his wife Irene. He was 95 years old in 2016 and he’s since passed. I kept in contact with his wife but the last couple years I haven’t heard from her. 😢 . The other thing that stings about this picture is my sister Dana has passed as well. Tell your people you love them today! Don’t wait to give them their flowers 💐 show it today. When I first began training dogs, the breed that chose me was the pitbull. I’ve owned many pits and truly have more experience than the average trainer. . Early on I found that the majority of dog trainers were scared to work with the breed. That’s where I found my comfort as well as my niche, working with pitbull’s and other so-called dangerous breeds. . The quote above is how I feel when people are still uncomfortable with the breed. Today with shows like Pit Bull and parolees, social media and those that post positive stories of the breed and Cesar Milan as a huge advocate of the breed, even utilizing one of his dogs into his training program the breed is much more socially accepted. Yet people still need to be educated and work towards educating those that misunderstands the breed is much needed but that’s what I’m here for. . For a long time I treated my business (training dogs) as that, A business. Not until a few years ago that I began to find the love of not only what I do but of dogs in general again. . See I’ve been in this industry for 30 plus years and with anything I’m for certain that you’ll have to find the love for it especially if it becomes redundant. . In the beginning, dogs saved my life. They say cooking with butter 🧈 makes everything better. . I say add some Pit Bull blood 🩸and you’ll get a better dog. . In Europe, it’s not uncommon to see a working breed such as the Malinois crossed with a Pit Bull. What you get is a hybrid dog that not only works harder but bites, hits, grips and takes punishment unlike a purebred. . Not all APBT (American Pit Bull Terrier) are created equal but at the same time their isn’t another breed equal to the Pit Bull. . Talent in humans is the equivalent of Drive in a dog. You can have all the talent in the world but if you’re not driven then it’s all a waste. This breed is as smart as any breed out there but what it has more than any breed is this drive to never quit, in the Bulldog world we call it GAMENESS. . Foundation; an underlying basis or principle. . Nothing can be built correctly without a proper foundation, and in bite work it is everything. What YOU see is a pup doing what YOU may deem natural but what isn’t seen is the time, effort and foundational work to get this young dog to this level. . In bite work training, proper foundation work will make your dog prosper. Taking shortcuts will only cheat your dog of reaching its greatness. .
