Okay, I need to say it.

I hate when you open X(Twitter) and the app refreshes on their own.

How many times there was good art already there that I wanted to save or like or maybe follow the profile, but after 0.2 seconds they disappear after opening the app and I lose it.

And most of the time, if it's not someone I already follow, I will probably never see that specific art or profile again.

Shadow milk AU idea

That I will probably never develop because I don't have the time and/or motivation

What if Shadow milk has always been a liar? Was baked a liar?

Shadow milk was never the Fount of Knowledge, or at least not the original one.

The Fount of Knowledge was really difficult to bake, there had been prototypes that crumbled and/or never woke up from the oven.

The Fount of Knowledge was the first to wake up and bond with the other virtues, but he crumbled before they could leave for Earthbread, thus stalling their travel.

The Fount was a very very fragile cookie, maybe even more so than Shadow milk, not that he had any way to compare it or would even be allowed to if he could, with them dead and all.

So the witches started baking again, they got better after the first functional prototype but not by much, some woke up only to crumble after a short period of time, some woke up but were too weak to move properly, some seemed promising and lasted a while, and some of those even met the other virtues, but the witches didn't like the personalities so they were "scrapped".

Shadow milk was the one the witches finally seemed satisfied with, or they settled for him because they got tired of trying, he doesn't know for sure.

Shadow milk got sent with the other virtues to Earthbread, he tried to bond with his fellow virtues, but at that point the virtues still hadn't gotten over the grief of losing the Fount.

It doesn't help that they realised that the other prototypes they met weren't the original Fount that the witches "fixed", thus reminding them of their death, so they were quite passive-aggressive or annoyed towards Shadow milk.

Shadow milk didn't understand, he was supposed to be no different from the original Fount, maybe even better, but it's clear he's not the one they want.

In reality Shadow milk is a lot different from the Fount, at least personality wise, and the contrast of it, while being identical to the Fount in appearance, brings grief to the other virtues.

Shadow milk tried acting like the Fount, but it only made things worse with the other virtues, they were polite, maybe even nice sure but were still distant.

Shadow milk wasn't even supposed to be allowed to act differently from "himself", acting like the original is something that doesn't match the figure and reputation the witches demand from the Fount.

Shadow milk then realized he was another failed prototype because of it, and he fears what the witches would do if they discover it so he upgrades acting to "white lies".

Even if distant he still wants to maintain his "friendship" with the other virtues, and what the witches don't know wont hurt him if nobody tells them.

But eventually the "white lies" were told to cookiekind too, and then Shadow milk lost control and the "white lies" became deciet.

Dear fanfic writers, is there someone that could expand on the whole "Sealed in the Silver tree for millennias" thing?

It's a thing I realized after reading a fic but there is no way that sealing doesn't mess you up in the head (unless you don't have awareness aka you're asleep)

When a character is sealed for a long period of time it's common sense that their mental health declines after being deprived of stimuli for so long, it's also not limited to only the "madness/mindbreak" outcome

In the fic that I read before, the villain sealed was an evil godess, because she was never mortal and was used to the monotony of immortality she could handle sealing better than a mortal but she was affected still, with a new temper, plus less patience because of it and a regret of not having appreciated sunlight right after being free when the heroes killed her

Be creative in the way the Beasts's trauma shows

White Lily is literally the physical rapresentation of their fear and/or trauma

Make them react in funny or angsty ways to her or others

Make all the Beasts hate White Lily more in particular (I don't hate White Lily but it's not my fault she is the most important threat to their Freedom, the holder of the souljam of Freedom is a threat to theirs, what irony)

Devsis, couldn't you have made Shadow milk secretly plan to backstab the other beasts+dark enchantress by stealing the beasts+ancients's souljams, and turning on everyone?

My take/theory on the beasts's corruption origins. Please be nice and remember that it's only a theory and not canon, it's definitively out of character (OCC) because I don't know anything of the virtues's personalities before corruption, because there is nothing shown yet, and can only take a wild guess from the current beasts's characters (the flashbacks don't count because they are at the verge of/in the middle of corruption in them in my opinion):

The virtues were a flawed design from the beginning, they were made after a war to achieve peace, but when that goal is reached what happens after?

The virtues continued their job even when nobody needed them to anymore, they didn't know they weren't needed anymore, they didn't know if they wanted to stop because it's all they ever knew, they didn't think they could, didn't know if they could, didn't know if they were allowed to.

Knowledge is good but being handed everything to you or have easy access to information can kill curiosity and doesn't drive you to think out of the box, and when you don't make effort to think for yourself, instead of believing the first thing you see or read because is easy, then you become harmful in a naive way. Sometimes Knowledge can hurt you, can traumatize you and/or make you violent, especially unnecessary or unwanted information. You can't force a wife in denial, to realize that her husband is cheating on her. Even when you are telling this for her sake and it's the truth, some things in life are more complicated than just "if it's true or false", it's about what happens after you know, the consequences of knowing and the line between what you want and what you need to do.

The Fount of Knowledge should have prepared cookies for independance and personal growth, while still being open to help when absolutely needed, some flowers grow better when you leave them be. But cookies were either too dependent on him, The Fount was scared of being left behind and that backfired badly, or both.

Change can be stagnant and really slow without a reason for progress outside of personal interest, after cookies achieved peace they didn't have any reason to better the things they have or the ways they work so they remained the same for centuries thinking they were already at the peak of civilization when in reality development shouldn't stop, and you can't make anything new or better if you think everything is already made and made perfectly.

The Herald of Change didn't make the effort for progress after they reached peace anymore, the goal was reached what more could he do? He didn't know, so he waited for change, became a witness. He could have collaborated with The Fount for better technology or entertainment but probably didn't realize he could take initiative himself to make things even better, he probably only knew the change for peace but not anything else before the idea of destruction.

Volition, what use is volition without a goal for it, it's the drive to do, to want, to wish. But when you wish endlessly, when you don't have a limit, when you don't know you should stop then you become greedy.

The Master of the Ivory pagoda should have put a limit, should have teached humility to cookies, should have refused sometimes, should have taken a break herself and asked others for help, shouldn't have done things alone in the first place and made sure the comunity could help each other without her. After the poor stops being poor you aren't obligated to still help them when they ask you for favors, they are capable of being independent themselves, and are technically indebted to you, that isn't helping but being taken advantage of.

Happiness is normally physically impossible to feel all the time, but if you take alternative methods that happiness will numb you and then you either become a potato or you do something drastic to feel happy even if it's a twisted form of joy.

The Sugar of happiness should have let cookies feel on their own, should have acted only if asked or needed, should have realized she could refuse to act, should have realized that while happiness is temporary so is sadness, anger, fear. She should have realized that happiness is the most precious when you feel it in a moment that matters a lot to you.

All of them didn't know how to handle conflict, didn't have experience in it, they were baked after the war ended after all, cookies did everything they told them to do and viceversa, because they were made from the witches the cookies worshiped as creators and deities. And when they had a problem they couldn't solve on their own they took the failure badly, like really badly, like child's tantrum but godly badly. The virtues aren't really fully mature, even after they became beasts. They didn't know failures weren't all bad, they didn't know they could be allowed to fail, if they could be allowed to, they didn't know they could learn from those failures, because there was nobody that told them that failures could be learned from so you don't make the same mistake in the future, nobody thinks they could help gods, or that gods need help. And because there was nobody to guide them there was nobody to tell them "you made a mistake" or "you're wrong" or "you hurt them", there was nobody to help them realize that. There was nobody to tell them "you did enough" or "good job" or "Do you need help?" and they couldn't help each other when they are the same themselves.

-You know what they say, God made us in their own image but we are so terribly flawed, the witches played god and from terribly flawed beings came flawed cookies without any guidance.-

It's rare to find Shadow milk having a redemption arc while suffering the consequences of his actions in such a meaningful way

It's not: "barely behave or make up for his actions while making PV do all the work to convince the Ancients to not seal him, but love is love so happy ending"

It's: "I fucked up the first time, if I don't behave or endure it then my life is over!!, while also doing some self-reflection of himself and slowly working through his trauma, and changing slowly by himself not because PV is so good to him he falls in love ecc ecc, but because PV being cold to him grounds him to the reality of the situation"

I also love that it's the second chance, because of course it couldn't be so easy to work on the first try

I also like very much how Shadow milk deals to being powerless, the panic and fear, the insecurities, the dread and anxiety of not being in control and the internal dialogue is ♥️

To conclude: you're doing more than a good job with the fic, take breaks when needed and go at your own pace without worries.

Now that I think about it, Dark Enchantress is also-technically-kind of Silent Salt's other half by being the previous holder of the Souljam of Freedom

Why do they have to make things so difficult for White Lily? Now she has two other halfs that want to steal her Souljam

Maybe there will be an indirect mention of Dark Enchantress in Silent Salt's update

i feel like so many people misunderstand redemption arcs. they’re not about forgiving past actions. they’re not about softening previous behavior. redemption arcs are about realizing past behavior was heinous and resolving to be better, do better. that’s why so many redemption arcs fall apart upon close scrutiny.

Why, out of all the beasts only Shadow milk and Eternal Sugar get a costume? (Maybe also Silent Salt in the future?)

Where are the costumes for Mystic Flour and Burning Spice? I could understand if giving costumes to the beasts was something Devsis thought of later, but they could have put a mini update to give them costumes before Eternal Sugar's update to balance it out

It would be strange getting costumes for them after maybe getting all the other beasts's first

I feel like MF and BS were just a trial run and not well thought out entirely

Also, will we ever get their pre-corrupted costumes? Until now it's been a Swap AU and a Beast Won AU but I hope we will get the Pre-corrupted costumes too in the future

Smilk is really a terrible cookie and did terrible things, but it's for that reason that it makes me want to hope for a redemption ending

I want him to make up for what he did, realize there are cookies who care about him (Candy Apple, Black Sapphire, maybe Pure Vanilla), start caring about said cookies, but also at least care about cookiekind enough to not do anything bad

I don't want it to be "loses powers (optional), got close with PV but only him, don't care about others and is still terrible to them unless there's PV to defend them"

I want him to learn empathy, start becoming a better person by his effort and want, and not only because PV asked him to, PV can help but I want Smilk to realize the cookie he is and wish to change and not "PV doesn't like that he acts like this so he needs to be better", he needs to understand why he should change

I don't know what happened to him in the past, his backstory wasn't explained in detail yet (only implied), whether he was a good cookie in the beginning and snapped later, or he had flaws in his personality that got worse with time, or he got forcefully corrupted by something, but it doesn't change what he did and who he is now at the moment, and that if he lives after a final fight against the ancients he would need to either change for the better or just never deal damage to cookies again

I would also be disappointed if it ended in death, it's true that you can't save everyone and that some characters don't have the possibility to be better even if they wanted, or it's considered an act of mercy to put the character out of his misery, but it's also unfair to the potential those characters could have and their ability to grow into a new/good person

Smilk's death would give relief to all the cookies he hurt but wouldn't give closure to every single one, he would leave ghosts of regret, grief, trauma and the lost potential of a new friend

Just because the danger is gone doesn't mean everything is fixed

Something similar could be said for the other beasts

Jokes aside, I think Smilk is there because he has a shared theme with Snakes (and their religious meaning) and manipulation/deceit with Eternal Sugar

I think it's funny that they have something in common but their only dialogue is Sugar distrusting of Smilk (which is the sane thing to do) and threatning him about not touching her garden

They don't get along (unless proved otherwise because they have too little interaction) but to be fair all beasts seem to barely tolerate each other

I just had my first cookie dream, I was Caramel Choux Cookie

(I don't know why I was her, I ignore her usually)

and I missed my friends but they were dead so I was sad but a cookie give me a Mashroom

(that became a rainbow cube later in the dream, dream logic right guys?)

that depending on where I bite I grow big or little

(I don't know why it's an Alice in Wonderland inspired dream)

then I appear in the Town Square

(not the in-game one but literally the in real life one of where I live)

and I embrace Black Raisin and Street Urchin in joy

(I don't know why Black Raisin was there or my friend, I was confused in the dream too)

while the rainbow cube was teasing me with his presence in my sight I explain to my friends's questions about how I am there, and I explain that I missed them and that I had a time limit otherwise I would have been stuck with them

(the time limit thing was inspired from the Mexican culture of the day of the death I think, I saw an animated movie years ago and if you remained in the afterlife too long you get stuck so it's something from the movie)

But then... my phone woke me up with a spam call

I was hugging Black Raisin and she was so soft and you wake me up with such a loud ringtone that I jumped from my bed

I'm so curious of how the dream could have ended now I'm disappointed
