Nostomania. ‘Intense homesickness; and irresistible compulsion to return home.’
Inspired by ‘A Tale of Outer Suburbia’ - Hands like Houses - How home can become unfamiliar - Things become unrecognisable - Not knowing where you belong.
Part of my final exhibition exploring memory.

My teddy bear work made in response to the poem ‘Catrin’ by Gillian Clarke.
Influenced by the phrase ‘the red rope of love’, which describes the relationship between mother and daughter, their blood ties and shared love. The location of the rope in the bear represents the umbilical cord at birth and the first encounter between mother and daughter; another key concept to the poem. Whilst the rope also looks like the inner workings of the bear and its anatomy. The fairy lights add a childlike fun which supports the already existing relation that bears have to childhood.
