hilda season 2 really out there teaching kids the wholesome messages of “take care of your friends, everyone excels at different things, respect the land you’re on, don’t fear those who are different just because they’re different, safety comes from a well-built community and not from an aggressive militarisation of the state, AND TRUST NO FUCKING COP”

Book Review: Animal Farm by George Orwell
Book Review: Animal Farm by George Orwell
I cannot be trusted with words to talk about this book. It’s a masterpiece, an allegory to the Russian Revolution that I cannot claim to know much of. How I see it is that this is a story depicting any sort of revolution with the hopes of the same old Marxist utopia which never happens.
Napoleon gets Snowball out of the picture as Stalin did with Trotsky. And both of these “pigs” become like…

Book Review: Leila by Prayaag Akbar
Book Review: Leila by Prayaag Akbar
It feels like a subway sandwich with too much red chili sauce but you can’t stop eating it. This is not a feel-good novel, needless to say. Written very deftly, very crisp writing. The world in the book is not really that far-fetched, which is now a characteristic of almost all dystopian novels from 1984 to The Handmaid’s Tale. When I started reading it, I thought it would be a bit like the novel…

Book Review: small acts of freedom by Gurmehar Kaur
Book Review: small acts of freedom by Gurmehar Kaur
A very quick and lovely read, most of it sounds like a 3-year-old Gulgul is reciting her story. Her story is about her family, she traces her own history while talking foremost about her father and how his loss guided her life. The memory of her father is deeply entrenched in her narrative. The book is not everything we know about her because of one incident, it’s more about all the growing pains…

Book Review: The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood
Book Review: The Handmaid’s Tale by Margaret Atwood
It sounds like it is one of the pilgrimage tales of Canterbury by Chaucer. And when you start reading it, it’s nothing you would have imagined it to be. I think the interesting thing about this book is that it tells you a tale of someone with no agency and gives her an end you’re not expecting in a world so dystopian that it’s not too far from the real one. The show has taken some liberties, the…

My Mental Health (I am scared for my life but I wouldn't mind dying.)
My Mental Health (I am scared for my life but I wouldn’t mind dying.)
Sometimes, I wish I could just make everyone around me believe that it is okay for me to die, that it is okay if some humans want to die, of course, after clear notification of their illness by a doctor. I mean, I know I have a borderline personality disorder with bipolar mood tendencies, I get that it’s not the sickest illness to have, that I’m better off than so many people but I would still…

Book Review: Nick & Norah’s Infinite Playlist by Rachel Cohn and David Levithan Nick & Norah's Infinite Playlist is not a pretentiously profound novel. Good thing is, it doesn't even claim to being profound.

Book Review: Yes Please by Amy Poehler
Book Review: Yes Please by Amy Poehler
How it Feels to Read This
At times, it feels like crying when Amy goes into a philosophical mood. Otherwise, it feels happy, really happy to read this book. She starts by talking about how hard it is to write a book, then takes you through her pregnancy, her childhood towards her college, her improv work, then SNL and then towards the end, she talks about Parks and Recreation. And to be honest,…

How Does it Feel to Read This?
It is a thrill to read this book. From the starting, you’re hooked because it starts by giving the information about the death of a thirteen-year-old girl Mattie. Then, you realize her elder sister, nineteen-year-old Sadie is missing. While reading this, some disturbing questions arise in your mind and you just want answers to them. The book deals with murder and…

5 Books I’m Reading Together (My brain is too hyperactive)
5 Books I’m Reading Together (My brain is too hyperactive)
We all have that one book that just keeps us going deeper into it. The ‘I couldn’t put it down’ book. The book we love so much that we re-read. Well, I don’t have that book, yet. I like reading books once, because I have no time for re-reading, OKAY!? There are some books I wouldn’t mind re-reading but there are way too many books that I have to start reading always! I can watch movies more than…

Things That Make Me Cry (Starting with Jurassic Park)
Things That Make Me Cry (Starting with Jurassic Park)
Okay, so here’s the deal. I’m no longer a happy person. I like to think I was a happy child who saw horrendous things happen around her but never cracked and always got excited to play with friends. But the truth is I have a Borderline Personality Disorder with bipolar mood tendencies, and I don’t know any other person with suicidal thoughts and severe crying spells and worthlessness and low…

Reasons and Excuses
I had no words to have ornamented your presence better than your adorable lisp, that’s why I was quiet. I had no self control to have stared into your eyes and still stay a few meters apart, that’s why I looked away. I had no strength to build a sand castle with you when I knew I would want a real one , that’s why I ignored you. I wish I could give reasons, for my incapability to be around you,…

Reflect Me
I wish I was so ugly that you could see what I’m from the inside. Maybe one day my face will reflect my heart out. I’ll wait for then, what will you say? how many more empty words will come my way?

Don't Touch Me
Don’t Touch Me
I’ll skin myself if you touch me, I swear. your touch burns me, I swear. words spoken multiple times from my mouth, fail to make sense to you. every time you fail to see, the love for you that lies in the heart of me. don’t come closer, it burns me, I swear. don’t touch me. your touch burns me, I swear.
