Ego Death is Noah York & Maya Gulin

Ego Death began as a solo project by Noah York in 2009 who debuted with a self titled self released cassette June 2010. Other contributor in the past was Dan Christiansen (Preoccupations/formally Viet Cong) who got on board when we composed a score for a mock satanic ritual on December 19, 2009 called Santamental. York's partner Maya Gulin joined as a permanent member in the spring of 2015. They began recording The Total End the following spring, though their first live performances wouldn't come until the summer of 2016. Noah was a member of the Calgary band The Diet, and fill in bassist for Lab Coast. Also producing beats under the name Fuck Clouds. Maya is a fine arts grad who attended Emily Carr. Her main mediums are abstract painting and film credits releases October 25, 2016

Tempered Exhaust draws its first breath from the backing track of Unseen Force's 2015 "While Light Is Cast" released as 30 hand-cut lathes, taking 'Shadow Lies Drunk' into a structural narrative blurring the lines between strategic fiction and experience. Tape loop and contact mic manipulations used with complete restraint and purpose in each composition, each track dredging through Autek filtered murk towards a single moment of clarity.

This release will be our first pro-dubbed and pad printed cassette, and will be presented as a limited oversize artist edition, as well as a more widely available standard norelco edition credits released September 29, 2016

Its impossible not to be drenched in melancholy listening to the music of Alex Zhang Hungtai... It feels like going into a room where you keep all your memories in glass bottles filled with tiny dioramas of everything that happened to you. The harder you stare you make out subtle details, think you have it and poof its gone again and your back in the moment your in. Thats about as personal as i get on the internet peace
