Made a leucistic Seawing! Random thought but I can totally see her being a performer/actress

So… Hivewings can be inspired by a variety of different insects right?

We had some that are based off of beetles, wasps, bees, centipedes ect.

I had some spare time and decided to base the ones you see right now off of different tarantulas! (Except the black/gold one) I know that a lot of people are afraid or disgusted by them, but I personally think that they can be quite fascinating and beautiful ^^

I can also imagine that night- and beetlewing hybrids could have looked somewhat similar to this. Beetlewings were described to be very colorful, we can see this by their modern counterparts (silkwings)

This just gave me the excuse to make bunch of more colorful Hivewings

The tarantulas I used es inspiration will be listed below! I didn’t want to use images in case someone has arachnophobia

Tsunami! Had some trouble getting her "canon" colors right because all of her refs on the WoF wiki are slightly different shades of blue.

Hvitur of the Icewings

I wish he at least got more time to shine in the first book

Hvitur is the only Icewing that joined the Talons of Peace, I‘m not the only one that’s interested in that right?? I would love to know more about him honestly, would he have been a good guardian for the dod? What was his role in the kingdom of ice/ranking system? Why did he join the Talons of Peace?

A winglet about him would be awesome :D

Dune the Sandwing

Speaking of the graphic novel…

Dune’s design (among other things) in the novel surprised me a bit if I should be honest

He lost one of his forelegs, and his right wing because of serious injuries he received from fighting with a Icewing soldier, but in the graphic novel we don’t see him with those injuries

I‘m also confused why the opening with Burn, Hvitur and the SkyWing egg got cut out as well?

At first I thought it’s because of some sort of censorship? But later in the book we see Queen Scarlet snap Dune’s neck, Horizon burning to death because of Peril, Fjord gruesomely dying to Glory’s venom, a battlefield full of dead dragons ect.

I hope none of this came across as rude ^^“

Despite the things I mentioned I still really like the graphic novel and the work that went into them

I even ordered the newest one that got out!

Kestrel has been described to have bright red-gold scales

As soon as I heard that part I decided to give her freckles and markings similar of a real kestrel (they are very pretty you should look them up)

I‘m honestly really proud of the design, even if it’s out of the norm :D
