“Emotionally immature people, on the other hand, often take pride in their lack of this skill. They rationalize their impulsive and insensitive responses with excuses like “I’m just saying what I think” or “I can’t change who I am.” If you confront them with the fact that not saying everything you think is a sign of good sense or that people can’t mature without changing who they are, they will probably respond with anger or by dismissing you as ridiculous.”

''Hate is a normal and involuntary reaction when somebody tries to control you for no good reason. It signals that the person is extinguishing your emotional life force by getting his or her needs met at your expense.''

“People who have been wronged by an emotionally immature person may start to think they’re at fault if they continue to feel hurt by what the person did.
Emotionally immature people expect you to take them off the hook immediately. If it feels better to blame you for not forgiving them fast enough, that’s what they’ll do.
After a rift, many people will make what relationship expert John Gottman calls a repair attempt (1999), apologizing, asking for forgiveness, or making amends in a way that shows a desire to patch things up. But emotionally immature people have a completely unrealistic idea of what forgiveness means. To them, forgiveness should make it like the rift never happened, as though a completely fresh start is possible. They have no awareness of the need for emotional processing or the amount of time it may take to rebuild trust after a major betrayal. They just want things to be normal again. Others’ pain is the only fly in the ointment. Everything would be fine if others would just get past their feelings about the situation.”

Book Rec for whoever needs it.
We are a couple chapters into Adult Children Of Emotionally Immature Parents and cannot recommend it more. It's been super insightful and validating. To all you "parent/therapist friends", people pleasers, anxious/unstable attachment havers, etc etc etc. I very much recommend it. 11/10

okay so I have this idea for a new therapy thing. basically the idea is after an abusive relationship or a combat deployment or anything that might conceivably leave you with PTSD and a loss of ability to reasonably gauge how bad the shit that happened to you actually was, you sit there with a mental health professional for like, a solid 30 to 60 minutes, you tell them short vignettes of your experiences and they respond ONLY by rating how fucked up each one was on a scale from 1 to 10 and then you move on. the objective isn't to reflect deeply on specific experiences but to get a sustained series of reassurances that what you went through was, in fact, That Bad and gradually rebuild your trust in your own present and future ability to judge when what you're going through isn't okay.
currently calling it Rapid Fire Affirmation and Recalibration Therapy (RAP-FART). working title, open to feedback.

Happy Samhain everyone! Samhain is a Gaelic festival on 1 November marking the end of the harvest season and beginning of winter or "darker half" of the year. It is also the Irish language name for November. Celebrations begin on the evening of 31 October, since the Celtic day began and ended at sunset. This is about halfway between the autumnal equinox and winter solstice.

♦️Would love to get back into sigils, then forgetting them and letting them work as a way to also let myself release control and learn to destress. We fell out of our practice for a long time but a lot of it was due to stress, trauma, and obsessive behavior. It shouldn’t be a practice that actively stresses me but also shouldn’t go neglected.

Subtle Witchcraft Tips
(coming from a closeted witch of 3-4 years)
stitch sigils or runes into your clothing - use a thread that’s the same colour of the fabric for extra subtlety
use bandanas to veil
display certain items as if they’re just decorative - all of my crystals are on a shelf and when my family asks i just tell them i like crystals! they’ve now assumed i’m a geology nerd lol
look into tea magick! tea is such a powerful tool for witchcraft and simply stirring your tea with intention can be a form of magick
if you wear makeup, paint sigils on your face with your foundation or concealer before blending
similarly if you wear nail polish, paint sigils on your nails
use perfumes or body products with certain scents that correlate to certain meanings e.g my shower gel and body oil are both lavender scented
create a shoebox altar - this makes it small and easy to hide
household herbs and spices can easily be used in spells!!
remember that a pendulum doesn’t have to be a fancy crystal on a chain, any small weight on a string can work just as well
any basic candle can be used in spells
research the correspondences of wearing rings on certain fingers
i love doing kitchen magick!! it’s so easy to incorporate into everyday life without blatantly being a form of magick
house plants can be great in magick
i know i briefly mentioned sigils before but don’t underestimate how powerful sigils can be!!
create small spell jars that you could easily hide
and remember: your craft is uniquely your own. don’t let anyone tell you what is and isn’t required to be a valid witch. i’ve had to be subtle about my practice for years and it’s taken a while for me to realise that i’m just as much of a witch as someone who openly practices.
blessed be <3
