I love when I'm watching scifi and the doctors or scientists or whatever argue about each other's technobabble like No quantum beams won't work. You fool. You fucking idiot. As the audience I wasn't even gonna question it like damn my bad... I thought quantum beams might work

For the past month, I've been running a bracket to determine which TOS episode is best, but how about which one is worst? I'm not gonna do a whole bracket for that, so let's do a single poll instead. The choices are based on how badly the episode lost in Round 1 or 2 of "Which episode is best." Any episode that won a round is not included as it is at least better than one episode.

How Spock dresses when he going to his own wedding with a fiancée he's been betrothed to since childhood

Spock going to see his former Captain he hasn't seen in years after failing Kolinahr

A minor annoyance occurs.

Spock, literally no expression on his face:

Jim: My god, he’s furious.

Watching the Kelvin Timeline movies again and thinking about how, after prime!Spock and Kirk’s meld, Jim has an immediate and all encompassing trust for this man (I know, how could he not, what’s more proof that you can trust someone than taking a tour around their mind) but ALSO, since then, to alternate!Spock’s constant surprise, Jim will always request and insist that Spock is right by his side.

In movie two, Jim requests “admiral, permission to reinstate Spock as my first officer” like he barely even has to think about it and Spock looks at him in stunned silence, probably thinking of every time- since marooning him on a (nearly) deserted planet, to the most recent filing a report that got his ship taken away- that he’s let Jim down, and yet he still wants to keep him by his side.

Prime!Spock told him there was emotional transference, I wonder if it included every ounce of grief, and by extension, love he felt at losing his own Kirk. Feelings probably called back and heightened by the loss of his own planet, two of the greatest tragedies in his life. I wonder if Kirk could also feel the mingled relief and sadness in Spock at seeing Jim again, young, and without a single hint of recognition.

I wonder if Kirk could feel any of prime!Spock’s “I wish I could have just spent more time with him,” and if it spurred every moment of him wishing for his own Spock to remain close by his side

i like to think that T’Pring wanted Stonn to fight in the challenge but he was like I am NOT fighting Spock are you fucking crazy he’s the first Vulcan in five hundred years to have a KILL COUNT that is not a fight I can win. and then Spock “kills” Kirk right in front of them and Stonn goes I TOLD YOU SO

tbh if I was leonard nimoy I’d be pissed about being paired up with william shatner too 😭😭 like im LEONARD NIMOY and here comes porky pig the diva extraordinaire…you’re trying to weave together theatre and religion in a radical interpolation of the future and mr. bigshot over here is garbling his syllables…anyways I’m glad they were able to fall madly in love with each other

10/10 funniest Spock moment is when he accidentally tells everyone he went blind bc he forgot he has an extra set of eyelids.

he ACTUALLY thought that HE, himself, was permanently blinded before going, 20 minutes later, “OH FUCK! I can see again”

normally that’s something Spock would do just to fuck with everyone but this time he also had his ass handed to him because he couldn’t remember HIS OWN NUMBER OF EYELIDS

best Vulcan ever. I know Starfleet is still telling stories about him to this day

Given what we know about how the t’hy’la bond works, primarily that it can transcend distance way more than a regular bond can, do you think that when Jim got spit out of The Nexus, Spock was aware of his presence again?

And if so, do you think he thought he was going crazy, or having some kind of flashback, some kind of phantom pain?

Or do you think maybe he thought that Jim had somehow pulled off the impossible. He’s done it before after all, cheated death or traveled through time or defeated impossible odds. They both have. If he can come back, why can’t Jim?

And that tenuous hope lasts all of a few moments, and then he felt him die again. And probably didn’t get any semblance of explanation for weeks, if at all. The whole thing was probably classified to hell and back.

He probably thought he was going crazy.
