Stop don't skip 🤚Please Help my children 🙏
Help me donate and share 🍉
I am Maryam, a children's teacher from the Gaza Strip. I am 35 years old. I am married and have two children, Muhammad and Mahmoud. I am now five months pregnant. I was living happily with my husband and children in our beautiful home 🌹 until October 7th came and the war on Gaza began 💔
Because of the war, I lost everything: my home, my work, and my husband's work. We became homeless and because of death that always haunts us. I was displaced with my husband and children with all the feelings of fear and pain 😟 fleeing the bombing and under the showers of bullets, walking on foot in search of a safe place to take shelter in 😭. We did not find any place to take shelter in and we spent a few days under the showers of rain without shelter. We now live in a tent that does not protect us from the heat of summer or the cold of winter.
Life has turned into a mixture of suffering, pain, and searching for a living. My children suffer from diseases constantly due to the polluted water and widespread diseases. My children were infected with hepatitis. I faced many difficulties. My house was demolished 🥺 and my husband lost his job, which was Our livelihood, my family home and my childhood were destroyed and we were left with nothing. Memories were erased and because of the repeated deaths we were displaced for the third time amidst the bombing and destruction. My beautiful city has become a place of ghosts, unfit for life.
We are now homeless and without a livelihood😭💔
Please help me so that I can leave the Gaza Strip with my children and husband and we can live in peace. Help me to rebuild my life, to restore my children's childhood, help me so that I can provide a decent life for my children and husband🙏🍉❤

As I promised, the Amy Nicholson excerpt I'm referencing!
Not to start yapping randomly but I think there is something to be said on how certain fandom characterization of Maverick ignores the depth in his character and boils him down to a reckless, chaotic man who is very infantilized despite of him being A Grown Man. And this is largely because people buy Maverick's facade. There was a very good passage in 'Tom Cruise: Anatomy of an Actor' by Amy Nicholson where she talks about how Cruise in 1986 was portraying a man (Maverick) who himself is playing the part of a cocky man. He does not have an abundance of reckless confidence, it's an act, one that unravels when you look at his moments of vulnerability (ex. the nighttime scene with Goose). This facade is also much mellower in Top Gun: Maverick as Mav has aged, so it's actually really interesting how some people tend to lean back on TG86!Maverick's mask when characterizing him. Some things to think about
#if anyone wants to talk about tom cruise or top gun or maverick. my dms and asks are so open#top gun#pete maverick mitchell#ethan talks

Hullo jayvik lore champion, I have a question about Jayce's origins. Some write him as fully Piltie and some as an immigrant (which I assumed he was bc of the scene when he was a kid in Arcane) and I'm kind of confused about this point ???
there's no objective answer. Jayce's origins are vague and not set down by the Arcane writers, though he very clearly threads the story of an immigrant's child trying to 'make it big' in america the city of progress via the speedrails and pitfalls of academia.
I personally write jayce as an Ixtali 2nd generation immigrant; his mom isn't from piltover but his dad (or stepdad?) is.
"but why would people think this?" - Worldbuilding wise, Piltover takes a lot of inspiration from the british empire at its 'industrial peak'; which is to say, this is meant to be a white people stronghold, a colony built atop Zaun and its labor. Arcane avoids talking about this (and straight up hides characters created to embody this point, like the entire Ferros family- only mentioned in the show by name, as a clan that makes Mel bloodmoney) but i still think its relevant to point out how all the major piltovan characters of color that DO get elaborated on this show aren't exactly 'natives'. Caitlyn's lineage partly comes from Ionia. Mel is a Noxus empire transplant sent to prepare the city for her family's use. Jayce has the entire unspecified mountain crossing scene. This is partly riot's centrist mandate trying to change the subject so piltover seems #NotSoBad #Diversity in the optics scale, and partly because we're meant to draw a parallel between piltover and industrial america being painted as 'the land of opportunity' (the city of progress!)
if you think this is mixing up metaphors, yeah, it was the mid 2010's they were just blending up british and american influences bc white people will do that when its convenient to their self-aggrandizing mythos. It tends to happen a lot with Steampunk. take any complaints up with riotgames

depression tips™
shower. not a bath, a shower. use water as hot or cold as u like. u dont even need to wash. just get in under the water and let it run over you for a while. sit on the floor if you gotta.
moisturize everything. use whatever lotion u like. unscented? dollar store lotion? fancy ass 48 hour lotion that makes u smell like a field of wildflowers? use whatever you want, and use it all over.
put on clean, comfortable clothes.
put on ur favorite underwear. cute black lacy panties? those ridiculous boxers u bought last christmas with candy cane hearts on the butt? put em on.
drink cold water. use ice. if u want, add some mint or lemon for an extra boost.
clean something. doesn’t have to be anything big. organize one drawer of ur desk. wash five dirty dishes. do a load of laundry. scrub the bathroom sink.
blast music. listen to something upbeat and dancey and loud, something that’s got lots of energy. sing to it, dance to it, even if you suck at both.
make food. don’t just grab a granola bar to munch. take the time and make food. even if it’s ramen. add something special to it, like a hard boiled egg or some veggies. prepare food, it tastes way better, and you’ll feel like you accomplished something.
make something. write a short story or a poem, draw a picture, color a picture, fold origami, crochet or knit, sculpt something out of clay, anything artistic. even if you don’t think you’re good at it.
go outside. take a walk. sit in the grass. look at the clouds. smell flowers. put your hands in the dirt and feel the soil against your skin.
call someone. call a loved one, a friend, a family member, call a chat service if you have no one else to call. talk to a stranger on the street. have a conversation and listen to someone’s voice. if you can’t, text or email or whatever, just have some social interaction with another person. even if you don’t say much, listen to them.
cuddle your pets if you have them/can cuddle them. take pictures of them. talk to them. tell them how u feel, about your favorite movie, a new game coming out.

#prev i am not surprised the mischaracterization was on a podcast called “this is gay” lol#dont get me wrong. i love shipping. i love fandom. but its a fact that fandomization can harm people's actual understanding of the media#shipping goggles can distort what's going on#fandom can also be an echo chamber where people just dont question headcanons and whatnot#i dont usually say anything about people mischaracterizing mav bc i dont wanna be a spoilsport#i get its all a hehe haha joke even if it feeds into a larger mischaracterization problem#for me personally it has helped to look at top gun through mutiple different lenses and taking space from fandom now and then so#i can build my own understanding#i have nothing against icemav. its a cute ship. but it has also contributed to mischaracterization#when you simply see two characters as halves of a ship then you only see them in relation to eachother#no one's persona is dependent exclusively to their romantic relationships#particularly maverick#who spends much of his life alone-- theres a couple of years there where he's in bradley's life#but other than that canonically he's not the kind of guy to stay anywhere#and iceman and maverick took very different career paths in the navy#a certain reading of top gun that has helped deepen my understanding is to read them through the lens of them being in a deeply misogynisti#environment. which they are.#and this affects their relationships with eachother. im gonna include an excerpt in relation to what i mean#sometimes you just gotta take the homosexual and shippy goggles off and let yourself analyze from a different perspective#this doesnt take away from shippy understandings of a film#it simply widens your horizons!#sorry for yapping lol#top gun
