Kids book about a guy who could speak to ghost animals through his reflection and make special magical connections to them to gain their powers. the connections were only temporary and the ghost would disconnect if he strayed too far from the reflective surface.
The book was almost completely blue except for his mother and her belongings, which were bright pink. he was an inky brown.
His mother had a job out of town which she would travel to for a few weeks, then afterwards come back and stay home for another few. his dad stayed at home and raised him and his four older siblings, three brothers and a sister. they lived in a big house in a snowy forest and would fish in a nearby lake to make money in a village a small while away. at first all the children would come with their dad to fish and each would be in charge of a different job, but then one day the dad started taking only the two eldest, saying "fishing was for grown ups".
also around this time was when the second youngest brother went missing. only the guy and his next youngest brother questioned it, and they never got an answer, the others continuing on as normal — until mum came home and asked too. originally their dad only intended on telling their mother and not the children, but she came to their room secretly and broke the news, saying not to let their dad know that they knew.
their brother was dead. the two eldest siblings had gotten up early to try and go fishing on their own, and their younger brother insisted on tagging along. they got to the lake and got ready to cast out the line — they had a giant fishing rod designed for catching the huge fish in the lake tgat was fixed to the ground and powered by a crank.
the sister pulled the line taut and the older brother let the catch loose, flinging the line out to the centre of the lake. the younger readied the basin for when they caught something.
the line tugged and it took all the children's effort to pull it back in, and the fish they had caught was way bigger than expected. they could only fit it halfway inside the basin, so the sister ran back to the house to ask their dad for help. the two brothers were checking over the equipment but the fish suddenly began to thrash around, slightly breaking the basin and almost snapping the line. the younger brother grabbed hold of the fish's tail, despite the older telling him to stay back, and tried to wrestle it back down into the basin.
just as the sister came back with their father, the fish flung the younger brother into the air, and he flew a short distance before slamming into a tree and flopping unceremoniously into the long grass below. the brother was too stunned to move so the sister and their father ran over, finding the boy unconscious. neither of them knew what to do and they had to sit there holding him until he quickly grew cold and stopped breathing.
that day when they'd gone to the village, it wasn't just to sell the fish. it was to discreetly bury the children's brother in the cemetery. they didn't tell the younger boys because they didn't want to upset them, they didn't know how they would react and felt guilty about the boy's death.
the mother took the younger boys into the village and together they found where the boy was buried. they left him flowers.
the youngest brother, the main character, started sneaking off to the lake at night, to pretend he was talking to his brother. the basin was being repaired and the tree his brother had been killed by stood quietly but clearly in the treeline. one night he looked into the water, which had a thin layer of ice over it. as he stared, another figure walked up next to his reflection. he looked behind himself but nobody was there. when he looked back, he saw his brother.
he wasn't scared. somehow this felt natural. he was surprised, sure, but it wasn't unpleasant. he sat and talked to his brother. his brother spoke back, clear as day, and he remembered everything.
that's about as much as I remembered from the book, but I was reading it because a sequel was coming out in the form of a movie — the first
[unfinished recollection]

Had a dream where all of civilisation was destroyed due to a worldwide blight on apples that spread to other crops while people were focusing on apple conservation, destroying vast amounts of agriculture. Riots spread among the cities and entire countries were reduced to wasteland. I was sitting in my old bedroom when suddenly there was loads of noise outside, and then a crash, and then people were inside. I don't think anyone else was in the house at the time so I just got into my bed and hid.
Two people came through the door and were talking about if they should kill me or not. One of them said they might as well cos they couldn't afford to feed another person, the other argued that I was young and fit and usable (I am not fit.)
A tall guy came into the room and looked at me. He had dark skin and black hair, and a dark blue shirt. He said they shouldn't kill me.
None of the other people had ever seen him before. He wasn't with their group and they didn't see him walk in the door. They just left him with me.
He was alright. Time passed and I realised I was immortal. One day the tall guy disappeared. My house was now part of a forest, all except my bed and some of my things. Sometimes people would come over to see if I had anything worth anything, but they were unsettled by me and would quickly leave. I don't think I was human.
I had a very old black and white cat that would roll around and climb on my stuff. He was really friendly and every time he left to go on a walk, I would say "thank you for coming back" when he returned. He never left. I just sat there and drew.

had a dream that my little sister died in a car accident. We tried to go shopping but I kept seeing things I thought she would like and having to remind myself that I couldn't give any of them to her. there were two ladies behind the counter who asked why we were so sad and when we told them they didn't know how to respond. We bought some things and left.
Then suddenly I was having a different dream where my sister was alive, and we were reading a bunch of cartoon characters' names as if they were in Latin and giggling about it. When I woke up I just didn't know what to think. Why did my brain do that? My sister is alive.

Weird dream
Me n my family went to a big shop with lots of toys and nick nacks in it. I got a little gachapon toy doggy thing and mum and dad put it in their bag whole discussing what they were getting.
Discovered a small food stand but when we got close it was suddenly outside and chucking it down with rain. We all ordered food and discovered the hygiene and customer service were a bit shit (I spotted dad putting a burrito together on th e muddy floor at one point) but the food was great.
Sudden change to me on the bus with boj. Riley shows up with someone who is meant to be her mum? And we all sit together at the back. Unsure of the amount of time that passes but Riley, her mum and my sister all get off together and a different lady gets on who I apparently know. Some weird guy comes on and starts ranting down the phone or something about a load of random shit and being misogynistic. He gets off the bus and everyone goes "well he was a bit horrible" but the girl next to me reacts a bit strangely.
Cut to us in her car driving down a path in a forest at night. She pulls into a layby and spies on this weird guy, who's talking again to someone else. Apparently they talked him into flirting with a high status girl in the neighbourhood. We're in the front facing away from him but we hear him approaching and then running away again, then saying to his friend "you didn't tell me you guys are into silvers! Do you really like to skirt up swords?" I have no idea what this means. The girl has no idea either and asks me to Google it, but while I'm doing that, the guy's argument gets bigger and he might have hit his friend? Then he turns around and starts calling after the girl in the car, apparently her name was Ladea?
He kept shouting for her to slow down so he can talk to her but she turned the car around and tried to take a shortcut back across to the road, but she drove right into a pond and the car started filling with water. The guy climbed into the pond and opened both the doors on the right, but only went to help her and completely ignored me. She told him off for ignoring me and he got a bit grumpy about it but he picked me up and carried me over to a stump to sit on, then went back for her. I wasn't scared, just really weirdly sad. I started crying. I could hear the two of them talking before I woke up. I wasn't crying in real life, and wasn't really sad when I woke up.

Had a dream that the family camper van was alive and her name was Vanessa. I wanted to go see my dad while he was out doing something so I got in the car and drove about halfway, but my little sister was with me and said she needed the bathroom. We pulled up to the layby next to the cemetery and got out, since there were several mobile homes and caravans there and we were going to ask if they had a toilet.
Two guys showed up with the initial intent to rob our van, but when they looked inside they found a black and white photograph of a woman lying back on a sofa who moved her eyes to stare at them. This was apparently Vanessa and the two guys freaked out. They came outside and were like "did u know about this?? This is fucked up" and I was like "yeah that's Vanessa :/ she's alright if you know her well" but they were still scared.
We continued trying to find a bathroom and then came back, discovering that two other people had tried to rob the van while we were all away. We went inside to check and one if the guys said "oh no they're going to come back!!" and I was like "Why's that so bad?" and he said "do you know what she's going to do to them??" and we all looked at the photograph. She was frowning, but when she saw us looking at her, it changed to a wide grin, and the other guy said "she's hungry."
We all ran out of the van as fast as we could, and I wasn't looking at it at the time, but the two other guys who were going to rob us went back in again, and when I turned around there was blood splattered all over the doors and the inside. I realised that this whole time, she only really liked my dad. She'd just been tolerating everyone else. Then I woke up.
This one scared me. Thankfully directly after I had another dream where I was playing with a guinea pig and my late cat showed up and snuggled with me.

dream
Had a dream that, after a shower, I realised had a huge bruise across the left side of my body, and some of my skin was transparent and I could see my organs. Me and my family were getting ready to go out for the evening, and by the time we were getting ready to leave the house, my skin had stretched and I could see my intestines poking out. It didn't hurt at all and I kept saying to my parents, "I think there's something wrong. I don't know how I did this." they were mildly concerned. It seemed they were conflicted about whether we should go wherever we were going or take me to hospital first. I woke up leaning on my left.

American dream
Had a dream set in the late 1800s or early 1900s about an American man who married an English woman he met while she was on holiday, then moved to England to help her run the business that her ex husband had left her with when he ran away and disappeared. I don't remember a super coherent series of events but there were some parts that stood out.
The ex husband's friends all still lived close by and they really didn't like the American guy. One night he'd gone to a pub and a group of them had been there, and they attacked him. His friend pulled him away and got him home, but he was really bruised and he couldn't hide it from his wife, and she was really upset. He wore makeup for the rest of the dream to try to hide his black eye but it didn't really work.
He was standing in an alley having a fag and a different guy came up to him. He said something like,
"that makeup doesn't work man, it makes you look weird. I can still see your eye through it."
He sighed and flicked his cigarette away and asked what this guy wanted, but I don't remember a lot of their conversation. At the end the guy said
"this isn't going to work. you need to be prepared to take care of these guys. they're your responsibility now."
I remember another scene of him being in a park with his family playing a game with one of the young daughters, and then someone taking him aside and threatening him.
The last part I remember is him sitting in the kitchen with everyone about to have afternoon tea. The youngest daughter had helped with the baking and her and her mother went to go and get some of the things that weren't on the table yet. The American guy decided to try one of the rum fig tarts they'd made, but the little girl had put WAY too much rum in them and by halfway through the tea he was zoning out and falling asleep. The middle daughter was giggling at him saying he'd gone squiffy and the mother was like "oh no" so she took the two youngest daughters up to their room.
The eldest daughter was there with her boyfriend and she was asking if he was alright and patting his shoulder, but he'd drifted off and had this fucking insane dream about what would happen if he did what their father had done. He was jumping over giant pine trees and knocking them down, running through a forest, and his wife, the oldest daughter and her boyfriend were wildcats running through it after him.
His wife stopped chasing first because the two little daughters had been left behind, so she went back to take care of them. The daughter and boyfriend stopped chasing a short while after that and decided to try to put together a home while helping the mother at the same time. It was clear they were all really struggling and miserable. He was still running, but at one point he missed his jump and fell down to the forest floor. He looked up and saw a blurry figure in the forest, but the daughter pulled him back and that was when I woke up.
The American guy had greying light brown hair (probably stress) and wore a lot of blue. His wife wore purple and had curly brown hair, but sometimes it would randomly be blonde. The youngest daughters wore white and were golden blonde, but the eldest had wavy brown hair and wore pink.
The girls were the children of the previous husband, but it was clear they all just wanted to forget about him, and the youngest daughter didn't really understand what was happening. They all really liked the American guy and called him dad.
Their mother was still upset about her last husband leaving, but it had been a year or so by now and she was bitter. She really loved the American guy but sometimes would get angry with him over something the old one did. Her last husband had a problem with drinking and she hated when American guy went to the places he used to frequent, half because she didn't want him turning out like the last guy, and half because she knew he would be in danger there. She hugged him a lot but hugged her daughters more.

I had two dreams last night.
The first was about a man that was lost floating in space. He had been out with a partner on a spacewalk but a ship malfunction caused the two of them to be separated from the rest of the crew, and they were free-floating for about two days.
His partner ran out of oxygen before he did. Fortunately they died in sleep. He passed out from lack of oxygen shortly after, but it was only half an hour before a ship found them while driving past.
It was a huge research vessel that was picking up information about how the presence of humanity changes space's activity, and they immediately slammed on the brakes to pick the two people up.
The guy woke up a day or so later and he was really upset about the other person not making it. He didn't have much faith in finding the other ship either, since the malfunction was related to their lightspeed movement. It was a very old ship, built before canned gravity was invented, so he wasn't used to the weight of the research ship's gravity at all. It took him a long time to get used to it and to get strong enough to walk again.
He made friends with some of the researchers on the ship, and learned a lot about how they worked. He decided that when he got back to Earth he would pursue the same kind of science they had been doing so he could rejoin them. His old work on the other ship had been survey work, which he didn't like the high risk of.
They got back to earth at the end of the term and he went for a walk with a new friend in a forest near where he lived. They found some cool ant hills and were watching the ants crawling around, but then his arm started moving by itself and acting strangely. It started to hurt him because it was yanking out of its socket and hitting him, so they went to a hospital to see what was wrong.
Nerve damage in the air? WRONG! alien parasite in the air.
Literally. Their theory was that some kind of parasitic animal was pulled in by his suit's filter and he ended up breathing it in, from where it made its way to his arm and set up shop. Unfortunately with no way to separate it from his arm and the damage to his shoulder and elbow joints already done, they agreed that amputation was the best option. The same researchers from the ship decided to start a whole new sector to study his arm and learn about the parasite so that they didn't have to pop any arms off again, and he was 100% joining them.
The second dream was about a group of adventurers in a video game who had entered a very dark and mysterious area. The big bad had just arrived and they were fighting it, but it was a scripted battle that they were forced to lose. Three party members ended up unconscious and the fourth got up to chase the bad guy, but he was too fast. When they turned back to look at the rest of the team, they were trapped in a sort of prison box? And there was a big mouse ordering some people to take them away.
Four ran over to them and asked what was going on, and the mouse said that they had been found guilty of treason against tge big bad guy and were going to Prison. four was like WTF!!!!!!!!!! / and ran over to their friends to make sure they were all still alive. They were, but they had very low hp and mp and basically could not do shit. The guys took them away down a corridor with invisible walls and threw them into one big collective cell that several other prisoners were also in.
A guy with purple hair and snakebites came over to help them out, and four asked him what the heck was going on and what kind of prison is see-through??? and purple told them that the walls aren't usually invisible, the big bad guy and the mouse just did this to torment Four specifically. Which sucks.
He said that the prison was designed so that time never passed inside, so all the prisoners remain the age they were when they went in. Purple had been in there for 120 years, having gotten a life sentence like everybody else. Four asked what it was for and he said Tresspassingâ„¢.
It was at the point where there was a tiny little community inside the prison, of people who could never return to their loved ones and only had eachother. It was kind of sad. Anyway they did a load of stuff I can't really remember, purple managed to slip out of the cell and raid the store cupboard for some stuff to help the rest of the team, got them all back on their feet and then they made a plan to overthrow the mouse guy.
I don't remember much about how the plan went, but purple and three (a girl in the team who did magic) fell in love while they were trapped in the prison. They were there for like a month so it wasn't like rediculously fast or anything. Eventually they broke out of the prison and successfully found a loophole which immediately pardoned their sentences. Except for purple.
Purple actually did trespass on the big bad guy's land. He had admitted to it and been caught doing it. He was never getting out of his sentence. And what would be there for him if he did? It had been 120 years. Everyone he knew and loved was long dead. The world was a different place now and he was tired. He was so tired.
Before the team left, he walked over to give three a kiss goodbye. Suddenly he pulled out her shortsword and everyone was like WUH but he didn't hurt her.
Heeeeeeeee killed himself. Said he was sorry. The others tried to help him but it just wasn't going to happen. Three understood that though they loved eachother he had long since passed his time, and when you're only living for the sake of one person you have nothing once they're gone — and she was an adventurer. There was no telling if she would survive the journey, and purple couldn't come with them. She was still really sad about it.
The mouse was freaking out for some reason. Apparently if any prisoners ever came to harm or died in the prison, the prison board would come over and inspect the place to make sure it was safe, and they were doing a SHITLOAD of illegal stuff here. Purple said this was the main reason why he decided to go through with sucide. To get everyone out of the prison so they didn't have to be stuck there anymore.
Purple died in three's arms and she decided to use magic to fuse his resolve with her sword to make it stronger (idk what this means) and they left a note with one of the prisoners that details EVERYTHING that was bad about their stay in case the mouse tried any bullshit. They moved on and then I woke up.

Bear dream
Had a dream about a small rainbow teddy bear who lived in a forest in a community of other animals. There were some humans in the village but it was mostly animals.
He struggled a lot with impostor syndrome and didn't really believe he deserved the loving family he had. This was also partly due to survivor's guilt, because he used to live in another community with his birth parents, which actually was destroyed by an evil cheetah and a large pack of hyenas, and burned to the ground. He and about four others were the only ones to escape the siege, and he believed that he was unworthy of becoming the leader of this new community because he couldn't prevent the loss of everyone else.
One day he was trying to solve an argument between two other animals, a fox and an okapi, over something being broken. He couldn't seem to get them to stop, and he thought about how his dad would have resolved this so much faster, and his mum would have fixed the broken item immediately. He looked over at his shelf, which had various magical multicoloured figures that represented the people in his community. When he got upset he would organise them and clean any dust off.
These figures were created when he became friends with other animals. Each one was connected to his memory and he kept them very safe.
Some of the figures were damaged slightly because they came from the old community. Their colours were faded and scuffed and no matter how hard he tried he couldn't make them look how they did when his friends were alive. This mixed with the frustration about the fight resulted in him grabbing all the figures and climbing a mountain where a campfire was. There were a few humans and animals sitting up there, three in particular who were his adoptive family.
One was an old lady who had lots of colourful beads and badges on her long hair and clothes. She saw the bear looking upset and asked what was wrong.
The bear said that he didn't deserve his figurines — his new friendships — and that both him and everyone else would be better off without them.
A mouse came over and insisted that that wasn't true, and his new community loved him and wanted him to be happy, but the bear just shook his head.
One of the other humans in his family reminded him that things might happen to him if any of the figures were damaged, and he might get hurt, but he wasn't listening.
They all watched as he walked over to the bonfire on the cliff and chucked all his figures into it.
There was a magical painting on the side of a cliff a little way away that had images of every animal in the community. The old lady moved the image over to the bear, and saw slowly each of his colours disappeared, and he drew further away from the rest of the animals. Then suddenly part of the painting started to disappear and she turned in horror to stop the bear from burning himself in the fire. She patted out the flames and said to him,
"burn the figures, burn anything, just not our little boy, not our little boy!"
There was a flashback scene. A small creature that looked like a fox of some sort was scrambling through the forest towards the community, desperately trying to tell them that the cheetah was going to attack them. The cheetah caught up to him and knocked him over, dislocating his leg and slashing it open. The cheetah left him thinking he would die soon enough, but he got back up and continued crawling towards the village. He tumbled down the hilly slope and staggered towards an ibex, begging it to listen to him, but it was so much taller than him that it couldn't even hear him. He dragged himself towards a shorter animal, I think it was a badger? And told them, but he couldn't get all his words out properly because the pain was too much.
The badger ran to find the bears and tell them vaguely what he could make of the warning, and some other animals and humans attempted to help the fox with his leg. The bears were like OMG and tried to find a safe place the community could move to, but they'd only just announced the route when the cheetah barrelled through the walls of their main hall and attacked everyone. A few people made a scramble across the panicked crowd and made it out of the village, which were the ibex, the badger and a red eagle, but nobody else could make it out before the hyenas surrounded them on all sides and went for them.
Soon a hyena knocked over a lamp and started a fire, and the whole place went up in flames, killing both the community and many of the hyenas. There was a small underground cave that the fox had been brought to that the hyenas hadn't found before the fire broke out, and the ibex ran back in during the mess to carry him out of there.
The fire was out by the morning thanks to some humans from a nearby growing community throwing water on it and smothering it, and they went in to find anyone who might have made it. There were dead animals everywhere. It was horrible.
they found a small basement under the bears' house and hiding in a cupboard was the little bear. The basement had been airtight so the fire couldn't spread down there, and he had to wait and listen for the screaming to stop before climbing out.
There was one other animal that survived the fire, a painted dog, who was pulled out from under a destroyed house. Other than that, nobody. No one was left.
Then it cut back to the present. The little bear looked like normal, but he didn't recognise anyone in his community. They were saying hi and asking how he'd been but he just didn't know who they were. He only recognised the few animals from his old home, and only just. He knew their names and faces, but not much else.
I woke up right as he was about to talk to the fox, who was missing the leg that had been hurt before.
This one was confusing. I feel like I should remember more of it than I do.
All the animals were really colourful and bright. The forest they lived in was mountainous and full of tall, thin, white cliffs, and swamped with thick leafy trees and flora. The old community was in a clearing, while the new one was on two separate levels, a plateau slightly above the trees and a larger artificial clearing. It was always dark and warm and bustling, but strangely a lot of the animals I saw weren't native to this kind of environment.
I know that eventually the teddy bear would regain all the figures as he learned how to love himself and others again. The older ones came back too, but not like new. They stayed damaged.

Just had a dream
Just had a dream about a guy who woke up in the middle of the night and realised he wasn't in control of his body. he felt itchy and achy, like his skin was swollen, and for some reason his movements were odd and clumsy, like his body was out of practise. it walked him to his kitchen and made cereal, out and about through the fog and into tescos to browse, and into a park.
eventually it walked him home, plopped him back in his bed, then Something crawled OUT OF HIS SKIN and slipped out through a small cut on his shoulder. He was HELLA freaked out and got up to Google what it could have been, searching through a bunch of cryptid websites until he found what he was looking for. it was a creature called a Crawler.
they usually would look and act like a totally normal person, but over the years and years of them being shunned by humanity they've become out of practise and easily recognisable as inhuman once you spot them. at night or during foggy/stormy weather, they search for people who aren't paying attention and make a little opening somewhere on their back, then turn into their actual form (slimy thing), stretch it out with their long fingers, and crawl inside between the skin and muscles. they grip the body with their sensetive slimy body and wiggle around inside to move around. they explore for a bit inside people's skin, doing stuff and learning more about how people are, then slip back out again and head home.
people aren't usually conscious for that whole experience, which is why someone being "walked" by a crawler is often mistaken for a sleepwalker. this guy had seen all of it in all its uncomfortable, itchy, horrifying glory. he was pretty relieved to hear thta being walked doesn't often have adverse affects, and if anything does happen, you can GO AND FIND THE CRAWLER to talk about it. they're pescetarian and appreciate a snack before discussing being walked and such. dude was all like "oh so they're chill" and decided to find where the crawler lived so he could ask to please not be crawled inside again.
He looked up how to find a crawler's home, bought a salmon sandwich from tescos and went off to look for it. he lived close to some rocky, hilly countryside so he went there to wander into crevices and caves until he found something. on the third abandoned mine, he found a light and a neat little bucket with fish bones and other leftovers in it near the entrance. this was it.
he trotted in kind of shyly and was met with a freakishly tall skinny man with an orange bucket hat, messy brown hair, long fingers and sort of droopy eyes? with the rest of the face obscured by shadow and hair. it panicked a little and tried to hide but the guy was like
"hey we're chill man I got u a sandwich"
and the crawler was like
"oh my god I haven't had a sandwich in months. bangin"
and it ate it super quickly. the guy remembered reading online that when a crawler is underfed they tend to stretch out to try to compensate and this guy was practically inspector gadget so it didn't bode well for it.
so the crawler finished the sandwich and looked at the guy and was like
"sooooo what are ya here for? if you're not here to kill me yk"
and the guy said "ummmmm I was hoping to ask if you could. Please not walk me again. it was kind of uncomfortable"
the crawler was really surprised cos this was the first time that a person it had walked had been conscious for it, and it felt kind of awkward about it. it's like when someone walks out of the shops and catches you fawning over their cute dog. the guy was like "oh really it's ok it just freaked me out and it was a bit uncomfy and idk if I'll be awake the next time so" and the crawler was like "oh sure sure it's no problem" and then they talked for a lil bit about what made it uncomfy and how the crawler could make it. More Comfy. and less weird. if that's even possible.
then the crawler brought the guy into the next room of the cave and revealed that actually there were two other crawlers living with it. they were all a bit stretched but the other two were significantly more in-practise with human disguises than our big dude. big crawler introduced the other two to the guy, the first was its best friend who always came with it on walks, and the other was his ex who realised she was both a girl and a lesbian after walking a lady for the first time. but she and big crawler were on good terms so it was chill.
the guy was like
"uh this cave isn't exactly the safest place to live for u guys" and the lady crawler said
"tell me about it smh. we've been struggling to get any good food too since all the farmers round here are CONVINCED we eat people"
"well that's just a little bit rude don't they do their research"
"their research is Facebook"
"ah"
so the guy offered for them to come stay at his for a little while until they found their own spot and got better at being human (or however they wanted to be) and they were like YAY so they waited until the evening fog came in and all walked back to his house together. then there was a timeskip and it turns out they'd decided to come and live in my house?
they all looked a bit more human-y now except for the best friend who decided he wanted to be sky blue. be urself for ur pride ig
there was a muntjac deer and an aardvark living in my living room floor and they would occasionally pop out and wander around, but they were a lil scared of people so we didn't get to see them up close. the big crawler decided it wanted to see them better but we didn't have a spare aardvark or muntjac lying around so it made its own skin out of random stuff around my house (we have a lot of faux fur and fabric.)
it worked! somehow! and the crawler hung out with the aardvark for a bit until we called it back saying we were about to go out. For some reason I had hair extensions. the guy from before, my parents, my sisters and my older sister's gf were there and we were discussing where we were going. I walked out to the van and the three crawlers were in there chatting with eachother, and I said we were deciding where we were going. then everyone came out of the house to get in the van and that's when I woke up.

Um???? Dream
Dream where there were a group of characters all arguing and suddenly a guy shows up and asks what's going on. Struggling to remember this one.
They were all trying to find a name for a citadel they were founding together but nobody agreed and it slowly devolved into chaos. It had turned into a fight and since they all had magical powers, a lot of them had gotten hurt, but one other character managed to calm them all down and pull them back into the room.
One was a halfling weaponsmith with short black hair. and he was MAD. he was so angry. But also he was the worst off of all of them so he mainly contributed via angry shouting, flailing, pointing and wincing.
Two were human siblings that didn't get along well. They would just kind of stare at eachother from across the table.
One was an ogre who HATED the halfling. he thought he was the most annoying guy ever. but the ogre was also the chillest guy in the room. he was quiet and tried to break up the fighting alongside another one, but he ended up having to knock the halfling out by flinging him at a wall and he was NOT happy with him.
one was a warrior lady. she was stubborn and insisted on her way, but nobody else really liked the idea. She stormed out of the room during the conversation but came back in later.
one was a wolf-man? they would shut down everything the lady said and growled at anyone who even slightly agreed with her.
One was a lizardy dragony person? she was pearl white and had long flowy antennae at the start, but she was also genderfluid and at one point during the dream she became male, turned dark blue, and had horns. She was the one who managed to pull everyone back inside and stop the fighting.
Finally was the guy who suddenly showed up. he seemingly knew the future and knew that if these people didn't agree on the citadel, it would fall and an ancient evil would take over. he also knew a lot about each character and why they didn't get along with everyone else.
He said that there were connections between two of everyone in this room. if they failed to learn from their differences and get along, one of those connections would fall dead, causing the citadel to fall. essentially they were the beams holding the walls up.
I really regret that I don't remember a lot of this part. in it he talked to everyone and over the course of the conversation people realised who the connections were between. as it went on the lizardy person got really nervous and would try and deescalate when characters started to shout, but the guy would stop her, saying that they had to work through things in their own way, otherwise it would never really be resolved.
first it was the two brothers, who had been fighting over the fact that they had to leave their parents behind to escape slavery a few years ago. there was no way they could have brought their parents, and the parents had already told their kids that they should leave without them, but one brother was desperate to bring them. the other had to drag him away, and the noise the first brother made about it almost blew their cover. they had been angry about it for a while but after each brother explained what upset them, they understood eachother and stopped fighting.
they shook hands and a small shiver spread across the room. the wolf-man commented on a new smell and the halfling complained about the sudden change in air pressure that nobody else noticed. then they all went "oh shit that was a link right" and the guy was like "yes it was" and they were like "OHHHH SHIT"
the next pair were (believe it or not) the ogre and the halfling. the halfling explained why he was so angry, and it was apparently because of how none of them could agree on anything — he was like, "we were all great friends when we met!! what the fuck is going on!! why has all out shit only just hit the fan?????? we should have sorted this out ages ago!!" and everyone was a bit sheepish.
the ogre was all like "we never talked about it before!!!!! most of our decisions had to be made in a split second to prevent us from DYING!!!!!! until we got to here we had no time to consider it all :("
and then the two of them realised that actually they agreed this whole time and the ogre was just refusing to listen to the halfling because he thought shouting=uncivil. the halfling was angry at the ogre cos he thought the ogre wasn't listening to him because he disagreed.
the halfling insisted on getting up to shake the ogre's hand. the lizardy person was a bit worried at first but the halfling was sure he could do it, and he could. the ogre apologised for throwing him ar a wall and he was all like "nahhh it's nothing I've had worse" lol. the ogre still decided to pick him up so he would stop straining himself.
then was the lady and the wolf-man. she asked the wolf-man why they weren't letting her talk and they said it was because she would NOT STOP TALKING ABOUT IT. she wasn't listening to the other ideas, she wasn't listening to why hers wouldn't work, she was so insistent that her word was law that they'd just had enough of it at this point. she HAD to just drop it.
she got a bit upset about it, but then she explained that she'd been so into the idea because it was the original reason why she had told everyone to start making the citadel. she was the leader of the group, and she'd had this idea for so long, and she though that it was what everyone had agreed on... wolf-man and some or the others explained to her that plans change, and sometimes your first idea just isn't going to work anymore. you have to adapt and change with the way things are going.
she finally agreed and the wolf-man apologised for growling at her. they shook hands and then all that was left was the guy and the lizardy person.
the guy said, "I think you already know why we are connected." the lizardy person looked sad.
the halfling said "why? you've never even met!" and the others were like "yeah!! what do you mean he should know?"
the lizardy person looked at them, but then looked away. he looked embarrassed about something.
"because," said the guy, "neither of us are meant to be here. we're both from a different world. one where your citadel fell."
everyone was like ":OOOOO" and he explained that technically they'd seen everything happen, and both had had the idea to come here and fix it for the sake of the future. the guy knew the lizardy person would have failed, because they didn't have all the facts. so the guy went all the way back and followed each member of the group to gain a proper understanding of what had gone wrong. the lizardy person didn't have a way to resolve the arguments, but without them, the group's fight would have turned out a lot worse, and the halfling would have died.
"we both had important parts to play. but you know that neither of us can stay here. it's not our place." the guy held his hand out to the lizardy person. they took it.
there was one last shiver and the halfling complained that his ears felt funny, but everyone else felt it too that time. the guy checked the timeline and the ancient evil no longer enveloped the latter half of it. he looked at the lizardy person and said it was time to go. so they left.
this whole thing was a part of a popular show, and neither the lizardy person nor the guy had been an important part of the group until this episode. the guy had been a background character, and the lizardy person had been acting like they were here the whole time, when they hadn't.
each character was also apparently from a ttrpg, which the guy and the lizardy person seemed to be aware of? it might have been a "dm ex machina" situation to stop characters from arguing so that the story could progress.
someone on YouTube made a super popular animation meme using clips from this episode and eventually other people started recreating it with their own charcaters or ones from other shows. it was especially popular in the gacha community and a lot of famous gachatubers made versions of it, some even making au versions where the story plays out differently. it was surreal. one of them was kind of horrifying, all the characters being put in saw trap-like contraption and forced to admit everything under threat of violence. a documentary youtube even made a video on it where they for some reason changed gender at the same point in the story as the lizard? idek man
that's as much as I could get from it. I was sure that there was stuff before that but I'm not able to remember.

I drew part of this dream!
Tumblr media
This is after the serval finished telling the beast about the memory.
This dream kept shifting between different storylines. I don't remember all of them very well, but I got the gist of them.
Science club in a leading laboratory where the staff shuffle the items in the lockers. Researcher made a science experiment involving sweets and water with the previous group of smaller children, but an older child in the next group backed into it and knocked it over by accident. They continued the club activities anyway, learning about sound and vibration.
Guy who created clones of himself to commit theft, only caught by one crease on their faces. they try to kill the woman leading the investigation, but she pulls them both into a mirror and leads him to a river that they can stand on (due to the reflective surface). He catches her and tries to choke her to death, but the others in the laboratory make it to the real river, find them with the mirror, and pull the woman out — they smash the mirror, killing the man and leaving only his hands in the real world.
Tall tired green/pink beast with a light blue pet dog and a best friend who is a dark blue and purple shape-shifting serval. The beast has periods of delirium that can last for weeks, and the serval keeps him company and tells him stories and memories to help him through it. This one was when the beast and the serval took the dog on a walk through grassy dunes near the ocean in early spring, bought ice cream (the serval got honey and chocolate, the beast got peanut butter), and then walked back into town down a mechanical lift and past the laboratory, and went home.

here's some art I made of this dream!
Tumblr media
this was the beaver.
Tumblr media
this was the otter.
this is the scene where the beaver asks the tiger for help.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
this is the scene where otter tells beaver it's ok to let go of his paws.
Tumblr media
this is the scene where beaver gets into the water in his humanoid form.
had a dream that mum and dad were watching an American adult TV show that was in a sort of faux-anime style. It was about three different groups of magical animals who lived in three different biomes, which were one that was mainly water, one that was like a jungle and one that was like a desert. The jungle was in the middle and the water part was to the east, while the desert was southwest — I never saw anything about the desert and no animals from it either.
It seemed that they had these temples which would protect the animals living in these biomes, and there were special stones that had to be in the right places for them to work. at this point in the show, two of the rocks were missing from the water biome's temple, and only one of the animals, who was a beaver with a stone island as a body, had actually seen that they were missing. none of the other water animals believed him, so he went to the jungle to ask his friend, who guarded the jungle temple, for help.
His friend was like a bright red tiger who was made of roses? but they believed the beaver and the two of them started to travel around looking for where the stones might have gone. they asked some herons for help looking from higher up, but they still couldn't see where they had gone.
they got back down, and there was a huge commotion at the ancestral dam, which was a huge dam in the river that had been maintained by hundreds of generations of beavers, and sat between the water and jungle biomes. There were a lot of beavers and they rotated their responsibilities, so our beaver hadn't been there today. this time, something dangerous had happened — which was not common at all for any of the animals.
the dam had collapsed slightly and trapped some beavers inside, but they would be alright. The big problem was that the guard of the water temple, an otter made of a bundle of sticks (I'm sure you can guess the joke here) had gotten trapped under the broken entrance, and he had to keep paddling up to the surface for air, unable to climb onto the flat surface because his tail was stuck. all the animals were freaking out outside because none of them could work out how to free his tail without hurting the other beavers, but they couldn't free the other beavers fast enough for him to avoid drowning.
the stone beaver decided that since he was really small, he should be able to fit through the gaps and climb inside to help the otter. the others were all like "but beavers and otters are getting hurt right now for some reason!! what if you get hurt!!!!" and he was like "that doesn't matter I've gotta help somehow" and he climbed in.
when he got inside the otter was absolutely exhausted and his head was bobbing in and out of the water. beaver grabbed his front paws and held him up out of the water, which though very painful since it put strain on his injuries, allowed otter to breathe and for the other beavers outside to be freed from the damaged dam. once all the beavers were freed, now our boy had to get the two of them out.
beaver would have to let go of the otter and smash some very specific parts of the door so he could make a hole without collapsing the whole dam, but he didn't want to risk otter breathing any more water if he took too long. the otter told him it would be ok and getting out of there was the priority.
so beaver dropped otter's hands and he immediately slid back into the water. beaver started to whack some specific branches and slowly light was showing through the wall — but then right as he hit the branch that was trapping otter's tail, a part behind them broke in the wall and a huge gush of water slammed them through the hole beaver had made. the two of them were thrown out of the dam and they tumbled into the water, the otter ending up relatively unscathed but beaver hitting a large log and sinking into the river.
the herons saw what was happening and came down to try to pull the otter out of the water while the other animals tried to find the beaver. eventually the rose tiger found him and carried him onto the shore, where he slowly came to his senses and the other animals thanked him for helping. suddenly, two other beavers started yelling and pulling something out of the water. it was one of the magic stones from the temple.
the otter was still dizzy from the whole ordeal but recognised the stone as the one that protects beavers. soon the one that protects otters was pulled out, and there was much confusion over how they could have ended up in the shallows of the river. the otter had realised they were missing upon waking up that morning in the temple and immediately came down to make sure the beavers were ok, climbing inside the ancestral dam to look for the beavers. there was some kind of weakness caused by rotting wood in the internal part of the dam, and it happened to break while otter was inside.
beaver was training under otter as a temple guard, and woke up before otter. he went out to look for the stones upon realising they were missing. at least they now knew where the stones were, and could put them back — but because otter was injured, beaver would have to guard the stones by himself, with the help of some nocturnal animals that were meant to work the night shift but really didn't care. actually beaver was also injured, but none of the others could really tell, so he opted not to make a fuss about it. essentially beaver was entirely on his own.
that was the end of that episode, but I did see the first part of the next episode.
It was really early in the morning, still dark out, and the inside of the temple was steamy and warm. inside the temple was what looked to be a natural hot bath, and the water circulated via a stream that ran between the magical stones. otter was sitting in the water because the stones gave it healing properties. it was quiet and acoustic in the space, and the running water was calming. otter looked up because he heard someone else getting into the water.
It was beaver, but he was in a humanoid form. he was small and fluffy, but not as small as his usual form, and he had shoulder length hair. there were bags under his eyes and there was dried blood in his hair. he looked very tired.
he ducked under the water for a moment, then swam over to sit across from where otter was, seemingly not realising he was there. otter said "hey little guy, what are you doing up so early?" and beaver looked up and seemed a little embarrassed.
the animals didn't really like to enter their humanoid form outside of the temples, and would only occasionally change into them if it was convenient. for beaver, the ledge into the water was too high for him to get back out as a beaver, so he changed forms in order to reach. changing to a humanoid form might have been considered a little embarrassing.
"ah, don't worry, I get it little man. ledge too high, right?" otter called over to him in a gentle but pained voice, shifting his weight where he was sitting. he changed forms too so beaver didn't feel as awkward.
otter's human form was tall and strong-looking but you could still tell he wasn't at his best. he continued, "I thought you might have gotten hurt back there. the others were totally blindsided by all of this, can't really blame them for not realising..."
"yeah, I guess you're right," replied beaver. he rubbed his shoulder and winced. "I'll be taking care of this place for a while then, huh... I doubt I'll be very good at it yet." he looked pretty sad about it. I think he was anticipating that something would go terribly wrong whole he was in charge.
otter smiled at him. "don't worry little man. if something does go wrong, the others will understand. I have your back anyway."
beaver smiled back at otter and nodded, then climbed back out of the water and shook himself dry. he turned back into a beaver and walked into the main room where all the other water biome stones were, to find that even more had gone missing. he put his head in his hands and rubbed his eyes, his anxiety and head injury giving him a headache. he shouted up at the bat's who were meant to be keeping watch but they were too busy trading cool rocks to have noticed what happened.
at that point I had a weird thing where I woke up, still in the dream, and tried to write it down in my notes app, but the notes app was glitching and duplicating text every time I used backspace. it was very annoying and I was very happy to wake up again for real this time
