Shopping for laptops fucking sucks ‘cause I don’t know shit about computers. I’ve never had a computer with a functional webcam or microphone or the ability to play computer games made later than 2005 or a speaker that could play anything loud enough to hear from more than a foot away. Morrigan- Yapper drunk. Embodies the ‘drunk sayings are sober thoughts’. Extra sassy but also extra sappy

Hawthorne- Parkour drunk. He’s the one that some how ends up on the chandelier

Cadence- philosophical and conspiracy theorist drunk. Can and will argue with the wall about how the Wunderground is run by molewuns

Thaddea- Lovey drunk. Surprised everyone the first time she got really drunk. Just clung to Anah most of the time, muttering compliments to her and everyone else.

Arch- Sloppy drunk. Will trip over his own feet. It gets laughs every single time

Francis- Sleepy drunk, lightest weight of them all. Conks right out.

Mahir- Fun facts drunk. He will ramble off cool things. But it’s mostly gibberish

Lam- Filters off. She actually curses now, and starts to complain about somethings. It’s the most you’ll ever here her talk

Anah- She disappears and when you find her, she’s somehow trying to treat and inanimate object that has cracks in it, muttering about how they should rest and such.

It’s gonna happen when the Elders find out she’s been getting lessons from Squall on the side. And he’s been using her as a conduit to use his powers in Nevermoor (ie, curing the Hollowpox and making that Ghsotly Hour)

I don’t know how they’d find out exactly, probably something goes awry and Ezra makes an appearance (either intentionally or unintentionally) and the whole thing spirals from there

Among my theories of what might happen in the future of Nevermoor, I think that it’s not unlikely that we’ll actually see Morrigan cut ties with the Society at some point or at least have a falling out with them. In the Nevermoor Readalong videos, Jessica herself describes some of the Society’s actions as dishonest and subtly sinister at times. Plus, that Safeguard Pact is still an unfired Chekov’s Gun and while we still don’t know a lot, we know it is NOT GOOD and the Society would have to turn against Morrigan or deem her too dangerous in order to activate it.

So yeah 🤔

Morrigan fires back and exposes some of the Wundrous Acts that people use to this day like the Brolly Rail and the Silver District water gate. Something along the lines of “You say that Wundersmiths have done nothing but brought evil and misery, but you don’t know the good they have done. You don’t know that the Wunderground, the Brolly Rail, and WunSoc itself was made by Wundersmiths!”

HARD AGREE with Morrigan being failed by the adults. Admittedly I tend to be someone who will take longer to warm up to characters who are at odds with the protagonist, not always but often, so I was unsure if it was just me.

But the Elders? SUCK. It is beyond clear to me that they never respected Morrigan’s wellbeing and the only reason they admitted her into the Society was because they perceive her as a threat that needs to be supervised. They basically say as much. The whole thing with Morrigan’s schedule in Wundersmith was actually repulsive. The only class they originally wanted to teach her was how horrible all Wundersmiths are? Taught by Onstald (who, don’t even get me started, may have done the right thing in the end but basically told Morrigan he thinks she doesn’t deserve to live and was mentally torturing her with those classes)? So that what, she could feel terrible about herself? So that she would feel guilt merely for what she is? So that she would fear herself as they fear her? Even IF they did plan on getting her better lessons afterwards, the fact that they started with that is abhorrent (and everything else they put her through that year…)

Later in Hollowpox when WunSoc and the Elders were about to be attacked, she does something amazing to help them! She revives the Fire Blossoms and creates an amazing distraction! But no, that isn’t enough for them! They want her to take all of the fall! They expose her with the hopes of gaining more and then are all “what?? this caused MORE problems?”

And Holliday Wu? Look, I know a lot of people in the fandom have a crush on her and say that she’s “just trying to do her job” but tbh if your job entails screwing a kid over to cover up for your company then maybe you deserve to get hated on, y’know? The way she and the Elders use Morrigan as they see fit and try to bypass Jupiter, HER GUARDIAN, to do it? It maddens me every time.

I’m actually in the middle of my Nevermoor re-read right now and being reminded of all of this makes me actually glad of Morrigan’s occasional dismissiveness of the Society in Silverborn, and that at least the Darlings having recognized her means that she isn’t dependent on them for the whole citizenship thing? Some silver lining I guess… (haha SILVER lining)

Anyway yeah, that’s all for now 😅 I guess I had some thoughts bottled up. So sorry if you weren’t looking for another’s rant, feel free to ignore this of course!

The Elders and Holliday Wu are DISGUSTINGLY manipulative and gaslighty. As I said before, their excuse of ‘protecting to true nature of the Wundrous Society’ IS A BOGUS REASON TO GIVE MORRIGAN A SHITTY SCHEDULE HER FIRST YEAR.

Though, to give them a *minuscule* amount of grace, I think Dearborn was mostly to blame for that. I think the Elders just told her “give Morrigan a class that revolves around the history of Wundersmiths” and she took that and ran with it. (Though, with how they didn’t change a fucking thing after Jupiter might’ve complained, idk for sure)

AND THEM NOT APPROVING THIS THROUGH JUPITER??? Oh, don’t get me STARTED-

As I’ve said before, Jupiter is not perfect either. However, he’s the ONLY ADULT HERE that actually tries to put Morrigan and her safety first.

You wanna know the even crazier thing??? You wanna know what drives me up the fucking wall????

Is that Morrigan didn’t even get to choose to reveal her being a Wundersmith. Not once.

The Elders told the patrons of the other unit members at the welcoming thing without her knowledge. Then they blackmailed her into saying it infront of everyone at WunSoc or else Lam might get outed. (Also, using Lams illegal status as a basis for the Loyalty Test??? What the fuck.)

And then! She was outed to the whole of Nevermoor to be thrown under the bus! Haha!

AND THEN: oh look! She had actual family here! Lovely! Jupiter, you bitch, why didn’t you tell her-

The books open with her already having a shitty family situation with a father who neglects her, a step mother who has no interest in her other than trying to make a her a doll, and a very estranged grandmother. The only time she was shown a pinch of affection was when she was out in public with Corvus. That’s shitty and we all hate on them for that. Ornella is not excused fully because she took part in Corvus neglect but she does get points for helping her get to Nevermoor.

By now, the mindset of her being a curse to others is ingrained into her. And it’s not gonna be easy to get out

With Squall coming in and being like “You’re a Wundersmith and I want you to be my apprentice,” it DOESNT HELP-

Cause this is the guy that she was told killed a lot of people. That he was a monster that made monsters.

So what exactly did that make her?

Now with the Wundrous Society, they are already handling shitty with her original classes and her being told over and over again that Wundersmiths are horrible and they never did any good. And WunSoc didn’t do SHIT until Jupiter got on their asses. Sure, they were waiting until the C&D thing was revealed BUT STILL-

Now it’s her second year! And she’s actually learning some things now! Yay! Oop, oh well now your secret is out to the public because we decided that share that without your consent or knowledge :P.

Now Nevermoor knows she’s a Wundersmith, and the only thing they know about Wundersmiths is that the last one did heinous things! What the hell else did you think they were gonna do??? Accept her with open arms????

Morrigan is constantly being pushed into one thing or another just to please someone else. Hell, the only person here being transparent and trying to actually fucking let her grow IS EZRA FUCKING SQUALL.

It’s no wonder she finally takes his offer. It really isn’t. Because WunSoc was just proving time and time again that her whole existence is to just further their own agendas. Hell, even Jupiter isn’t fully exempt from this. He lied and omitted so many things to her, trying to push her to the side so he could handle everything. But he doesn’t realize that she’s had to handle EVERYTHING by herself most of the time, ever since she was young.

So of course she gravitates to the one person who is upfront about his intentions. Who is actually trying to help her learn. And who can’t out or do anything to her cause that means losing her.

Everyone is treating her like she’s still taboo, like any moment she’ll snap. And she knows she’s doesn’t want to do that. She loves her Unit, she loves Jupiter, she loves her little family.

But everyone else keeps treating her like that, it will make things worse. It will send her back to her ten year old self, trapped inside the iron gates of Crow Manor
