How did it turn out?

The PJO movies represented the books, pretty badly, no doubt. I couldn’t watch it at all without cringing and pointing out all the things that didn’t happen, and all the things that were terribly wrong. So instead of pointing out everything wrong with the movie “The Lightning Thief”, I’ll jot down a few things that I did enjoy, or found it funny. In no specific order.

Top Things That I Liked In The Movie, “The Lightning Thief“

1- I love how words in Percy’s perspective looked. The letters floated all around, really representing his dyslexia.

2- Let’s face it, the scenes where the demigods were practice fighting was pretty epic. Those choreographies full of clashing swords, arrows, jumping around— it was pretty neat.

3- Ifound this hilarious: The group of Ares campers were all these buff men with tattoos, okay? I then noticed: One of them have an ARIZ tattoo.

4- When Annabelle, Peter And Clover we’re headed to the underworld to see Hades, the car radio that they were driving in played the song : “Highway to Hell”.

5- “This is a pen. THIS. IS. A. PEN.”

6- We can all say it, the plot of the movie and the plot of the book are not the same. In the books (as you all know), was formed on the trio finding the lightning bolt that supposedly Hades stole. In the movie, it was all based off on them finding Persephone’s pearls so that they can escape after they tell Hades that he never stole the bolt— and hopefully with his mother. But after all of that, the plot was pretty good. If it wasn’t “Percy Jackson and the Olympians”, it could have been pretty clever.

7- Grover’s personality. Yes, he wasn’t the same Grover that we all know and love, and the movie changed his character drastically, but let’s face it, he was crazy amazing. How he was one of those flirters, girls calling him over, his “it’s alright, I’ve got this all under control” demeanour—

8- Percy’s healing powers— Yes, it does happen in the book, but he doesn’t stay healed, and he can’t heal other people. So when he healed Annabeth, I thought that that was a pretty cool power to have.

9- I love how they made a rule, the gods weren’t allowed to see their children or mess in their lives, or help them, or whatever. But what I really found interesting, they were saying that they could find traces of their godly parents guiding them everywhere. Like each new thing that they learned, they could think of Athena smiling down at them. Or if they construct something new, Hephaestus beams proudly. A declaration of love in a poem, Apollo and Aphrodite squeal and have wipe tears from the corner of their eyes. I just found that insanely cool.

10- I loved how we could really see that Annabeth wanted to see her mom. That’s a detail that I’m glad they added, and you’ve got to admit that her character said some pretty great quotes.

11- The tech. Yeah, we all know that modern tech attracts monsters. But what was interesting was that the Hermes cabin was full of computers and screens. I’d like to think that they though about emails, texting, and stuff like that (since Hermes is the messenger god.) Also it was pretty great who Percy used his phone reflection to fight Medusa. (But what about the camera—)

12- Y’all can’t disagree with me here: The casino scene was hilarious. And those lotus flowers that made you want to stay there forver? Genius.

13- THAT FIGHTING FLYING SCENE. That battle was pretty great, and those winged shoes were a nice touch.

14- Last, but not least, how they used Medusa’s head to help them with their quest. Just turning things to stone when they got in the way, using Grover’s hoodie— that I liked.

Grover *nervously*: Now guys, lets calm down I’m sure....

Percy in tears: GROVER IS HERE, MY MAN!!!! I HAVEN’T SEEN YOU IN FOREVER IM SO HAPPY
