I am the master of my fate and the captain of my soul
Out of the night that covers me,      Black as the Pit from pole to pole,    I thank whatever gods may be      For my unconquerable soul.
In the fell clutch of circumstance    I have not winced nor cried aloud.    Under the bludgeonings of chance      My head is bloody, but unbowed.
Beyond this place of wrath and tears      Looms but the Horror of the shade,  And yet the menace of the years      Finds, and shall find, me unafraid.
It matters not how strait the gate,      How charged with punishments the scroll,    I am the master of my fate:   I am the captain of my soul.
Invictus by William Ernest Henley

Things to quit in 2023 (if you can)
Lying: I don't know if you expected this but I know that lying hasn't helped me at all. Once in awhile, I like to add a little salt and pepper to my conversation and I actually end up adding too much that it becomes distasteful. So, I recommend that if you are on the extreme end of lying, stop it. Stop it because it will give you stress and anxiety.
People pleasing: This ties to lying as well but it is more broad. When you find yourself having to lower your standards to fit into someone's preference, you are indeed pleasing them to your detriment. Learn to be independent mined, own up to your actions, be different, and be respectful.
Oversharing: The tendency to overshare is a problem. I used to be this way and it was regrettable. First, you don't give yourself the grace to make mistake or change. Second, you let people influence your decision. Third, you oversharing because you are too scared to try or you want to prove a point. When I feel this way, I record my thoughts using my voice recorder or write them down
Procrastination: Procrastination is as a result of low self-efficacy and I still struggled a little with it this semester. I have improved a whole lot over the years because I remind myself of the stress and migraine of waiting to 1 hour before the due date to get an assignment done and it motivate me to get things done.
Fear: Treat fear as a onion skin that you need to peel off to see your multi-layered self and you will be more satisfied
