Here's a poem I wrote. It's by no means good, but I still think about it everytime I drive to therapy because it happened on the road I take to get there. Today I talked about it in therapy and my therapist gave me an ego boost, so here I am, posting it.

A Mile Back

I saw a dog on the side of the road and nearly pulled over because of the tears that were threatening to pool.

I saw a deer and barely took a second glance as a frown passed my face.

I saw a raccoon and didn’t even bat an eye.

I wondered why.

There is only one difference between them that I can find: how much they were loved.

What a cruel way to dictate one in death, what an awful way to grieve.

To determine how much hurt you feel, how much impact a life has, it is by how they were loved by others.

Why does someone have to have been loved for me to feel their loss; to grieve?

Why do they have to have been loved for me to love them back?

What is stopping me from loving the loveless, even when it’s far too late?

I should have pulled over for the raccoon, just as I almost did for the dog a mile back.

i really want to write a whole character based around this post. create a whole person just knowing from the beginning that they are the type of person to carry around pocket paprika and an emergency hard-boiled egg in their pockets at all times.

*my hands are braced against the side of a building as I'm getting patted down by cops* Oh that? That's my pocket paprika. For my emergency hard-boiled egg. You know, an emergency hard-boiled egg? It's like Paddington's marmalade sandwich except it's an egg. It's in the other pock--yeah, there it is.

For as long as Sigrun could remember, they were always told that they would grow up to become something great—someone who would shape the world with their bare hands. However, they were also reminded that the greatness they were promised would come with much hard work. It takes dedication to be that substantial. It takes humility—not relying on that promise of greatness, but instead using it as a driving factor. 

In a way, this is something that all mothers tell their children, hoping to convince them to be the best person that they can be. It’s an encouraging promise that they can become whoever they desire. Yet, there was always such an undoubted certainty behind their mother’s eyes. She was fully convinced that Sigrun could truly become something amazing. 

Sigrun only wishes that they could cling to their mother’s certainty like they did when they were young. They wish that they could believe it like they used to. However, they lost that hope a long, long time ago.

Steve Rogers is 100% the kind of boyfriend that sometimes taps patterns on Bucky’s ass when they hug.

He doesn’t even have to be in a cheeky mood, he does it absentmindedly. Bucky (ever the grade A koala he is) will go to hug him in the kitchen, around their friends and Steve will let his hands slide to Bucky’s ass and just… tap out a little musical rhythm on his ass.

Bucky won’t even even say anything he’ll just keep clinging. He actually finds it endearing and will cuddle closer to him, while Steve rocks them from side to side (sometimes exaggeratedly, sometimes gently, depending on how giddy they are feeling.) .

I dunno man , I just have soft feelings about our boys today.
