Want to know a silly bookish secret about me? I don’t read the last chapter of my favourite memoirs until I think I need them. Sometimes I feel like a bee in a sea of flowers. I’m just trying to find my way through all of the beautiful, thriving gardens so I can return to my hive. The truth is though, we all feel like that. No one thinks they’re extraordinary- we’re human. We have doubts and fears and often it feels exhausting to keep up with the bullshit personas social media has made us create. We retreat out of fear and frustration, out of a lack of acknowledgement. Why didn’t we feel this need for acknowledgement 10 years ago? Because it didn’t matter! 🔥 But now? Our book deals, tv shows, job interviews, acting gigs depend on it. What’s your following? ‘Well I’ve spent the last few years leaving comments and likes for strangers and my biggest fan is my sister. I expect to go viral any day now.’ 😂 🤯 We sound absolutely fucking ridiculous!!! We exhaust ourselves trying to impress people we don’t know to like us by curating these online personalities to be likeable and, white washed and Pinterest worthy. We know it, so why are we still participating in it?! We feed the anxiety monster with all of this “Here I am, look at me!” We all just want to be seen don’t we? 🌙 We cozy up in our anxiety hives buzzing about all of the things we would do if we weren’t so fucking anxious. Everyone is anxious! That’s the secret. We’re all terrified we’re running out of time. Everyone I know worries they won’t achieve their big dream, go anywhere amazing or be remembered as anything special. They think they’re missing out on life because of the photos we see on Facebook with big painful smiles. The smiles we fake trying to hide the suffering that we eat, drink, fuck, rage, cry away at night. So, right now I want you to know a few things.... 💕 Bee 🐝Yourself. Whether that’s a curated perfect insta feed or a messy house or whatever it is, just go all in.
