New theory: Ravi, canonically, is some kind of Druid/Weather Witch/Storm Sorcerer.

Big emergencies with Mother Nature? Don't happen on Ravi's watch. Earthquake, Tsunami, Landslide - all these natural disasters happen one after the other, then, boom, Ravi shows up and they stop. Coincidence? I think not.

After he joins the 118, we have snipers and hackers and kidnappers: all terrible, but ultimately all people derived.

Then, Ravi goes to the Academy and what happens? Buck gets struck by lightning. Sure, Bobby missed Ravi and wanted him back regardless, but he also needed Ravi to protect the 118.

And then Bobby leaves Ravi's sphere of influence and gets caught in a hurricane. Sure, the pirates didn't help, but still, a hurricane.

TL;DR Dude can control the weather I will not be taking questions at this time.

A quick note about the US elections in regard to 9-1-1’s episode on 11/7/2024, especially for our non-American friends or those who don’t have a strong knowledge of US electoral politics:

TL;DR – Depending on how fast states count ballots, it’s possible that 9-1-1 may get preempted by election coverage in some or all markets.

Slightly longer explanation below the cut:

Per ABC's official calendar, we should expect 8.06 "Confessions" to air on November 7th at 8:00 p.m. EST (this is also the week that the US changes from daylight savings time to standard time, so double check what that means for your time zone; eastern time in the US will move from UTC -4 to UTC -5).

On Tuesday, November 5th, 2024, Americans will vote in their quadrennial presidential election. This election includes the US president, about a third (34 seats) in the US Senate (upper federal legislative chamber), all 435 US house seats (lower federal legislative chamber), 11 gubernatorial elections, and for thousands of state and local positions. Each state has some ability to set how and when they will count votes.

In 2020, in part due to the pandemic, absentee voting exploded, and many states (used to very small numbers of absentee voting) did not have the capacity or processes in place to count them quickly. Of 51 voting entities (50 states plus the District of Columbia), most had reported enough votes to determine the apparent winner of their state/district (“calling the election/called”) by 4:00 a.m. on election night. However, that was not enough to determine who won the presidency.

Two more states were called later Wednesday, and the tipping point state (Pennsylvania) was not called until Friday morning. Other states had to engage in recounts and weren’t called until even later – but by then the overall winner had been announced so it was less urgent to report on.

Some states have since amended their election procedures to allow for quicker counting, while others have not. Early data indicates that less people may be voting absentee in this election, but it’s still possible, considering the anticipated tightness of the race, that we will not have a winner on Tuesday night/Wednesday morning.

What does this mean? Depending on when enough votes are reported in a state to make a call, networks may cut away from or preempt regularly scheduled programming to report the results. It’s also possible that some local affiliates may cut away if there are results to report in tightly contested senate, house, or gubernatorial races. We’ll have a better idea about the likelihood on Wednesday/earlier Thursday, if there are uncalled elections.

Not really anything anyone can do, other than brace for the possibility. I guess if you use a stream, try to pick one that does not use a feed from a local affiliate in a metro with major uncalled races?

The music begins with a large hit by the orchestra, which Eddie matches with a ludicrous high kick, hands on his hips like he’s actually a cowboy and not just dressed like one. Buck’s got the routine memorized – as Eddie moves towards his first jump pass, he’ll know immediately whether Eddie took Buck’s request seriously. The first element is a triple Axel; Eddie clears it easily. No one’s ever done a quad Axel before, but with the height and distance Eddie puts on, he may end up being the first. If Ravi doesn’t get there first: he’s called ‘quad god’ for a reason. Eddie moves into his step sequence, which considering the bombastic music its set to is nothing sort of entrancing. Especially the moment Eddie lunges, front leg bent at 90 degrees, torso thrown back. One hand is on the cowboy hat, and oh, that position makes his butt look amazing. Eddie is killing him.

This is as of September 20.

Someone asked in the tags on a prev post about which 'ships the bashing fics are written for. Here's the thing - the tools I use are good for things like date, kudos, author, where the same info is in the same place pretty consistently. Because the amount of relationship/additional tags varies widely, it all goes a bit wibbly on that part. It usually grabs the first relationship tag pretty well, but whether the 'main' ship is the first listed relationship depends on the author. So I'm not really comfortable making claims. But as a treat, I will share that there is a Maddie bashing fic where the first relationship tag is CC-2224|Cody/Obi-Wan Kenobi! Just, thought that was fun.

As an aside, I keep meaning to run the numbers on the summer of buckfidelity/infideleddie, but honestly (unrepentant) cheating fics are... just such a no for me, every time I start I end up just closing my computer. It may or may not end up happening.

Buck is mesmerized as Eddie takes the ice. He’d seen the costume sketch, watched as Eddie went through the initial fitting, hell, he’d even seen him in costume. But not on the ice, under the lights. [...] Eddie breaks the spin as the chaotic music transitions into something more sedate. There’s no trace of the nervousness Eddie had about this section earlier; the man looks positively transcendent as he floats across the ice, sweeping gestures holding the entire audience in his thrall. The music peaks into the final recitation of the melody and Eddie leans back, arms unfurled into a simple spread eagle. As far as Buck’s concerned, Eddie’s the only star in the night sky and he is utterly transfixed.
