~My Thoughts on Witchy Pretty Cure!! ~Mirai Days~ - Episodes 7-12~

Episode 7 - The Guardian of Time:

~ Am I the only one who’s not that sad that Hisui’s gone? I mean, don’t get me wrong, she’s cool and everything. But she just seemed like a placeholder for Ha-chan.

~ Anyways, the big dog guy is eating time or whatever. I do think it’s cool that when he traps people in their past, they turn into statues. And since the statues have to do with the person’s past, it makes you wonder what they are. Like, is the person in the ferris wheel statue just… trapped in one forever?

~ I couldn’t help but notice that Ha-chan was wearing some of Mirai’s clothes. So cute! I also found it funny how Sota didn’t question why she didn’t age in the past 5 or so years.

~ I’m growing to really love Batty. He’s going to Magic School, and learning about dark magic and how it created him. I love when villains get reformed, and just turn into normal people. Well, as normal as a human-bat guy can get.

~ CHIKURUN! BY BABY! I literally squealed when I saw him. I missed him so much😭

~ To be honest, this episode was pretty boring. I hope more begins to happen soon.

Episode 8 - Kotoha and Hisui:

~ I missed my boy Chikurun so much. His little smirk with the tooth… so cute!

~ Liko looks great in that updo she wore after everyone went to the bath house. I honestly wish she’d keep it. I kinda like it better than her normal one-

~ Chikurun said the Magicless World changed so much in a short time. But it’s been like 6 years. I don’t think over half a decade is a short amount of time💀

~ Ha-chan mentioned that she can’t ride a broom. But she has a new one now. Am I forgetting something? Is there a reason she can’t?

~ What do you mean Sara has an ex boyfriend? She isn’t a lesbian? I could’ve sworn she was gay😭

~ I honestly wasn’t worried at all when Ha-chan got turned into a statue. I knew she’d be able to get out. I mean, she’s a literal goddess.

~ Cure Felice’s back! And she has a new transformation sequence! It looks amazing! I was worried they’d just recycle the old one, since her design is the same(I think).

~ The Emerald Reincarnation has new animation too! Though, it’s pretty similar to the old one.

~ “Nabe?” “Yes.” “Nabe.” “Yes.”

I’m sorry, but that just made me laugh😭

Episode 9 - Various Worlds:

~ I was so happy that we got to focus on the side characters! Kay is so different now. I remember when she would forget everything. Even if the focus didn’t last very long, it was nice to see how everyone’s doing, and to get a peek into their lives.

~ I didn’t expect that gay lizard, the turtle and the spider to come back. I honestly forgot about them.

~ Liko expressing doubt about bringing people back makes me worried. I hope it won’t divide the team in any way.

~ if the villain could make that many shadows and turn everyone into statues all along, why didn’t he do it earlier? And why did he choose the Magic World specifically?

Episode 10 - Chasing Time:

~ When Ha-chan made herself look older, I didn’t notice at all. Maybe that’s just me. But I just thought she changed clothes. I was questioning why Mirai’s parents didn’t say anything about her looking the same, until it confirmed that she grew.

~ The scene where the girls were flying on their broomsticks really brought back memories. It’s like they’re kids again. It made me feel nostalgic, even though I only watched the season for the first time around a year ago.

~ I can’t believe I forgot how untrustworthy Yamoh is. I was starting to like the guy. But then he betrayed the Pretty Cure, and I was like “Oh yeah, he’s a jerk.”

~ I noticed that during the battle, one of the statues was crushed. Does that mean the person it represented is dead now? Or maybe they’re stuck in the past forever?

~ I don’t have anything else to say really. Sorry for the lackluster update.

Episode 11 - Mirai’s Decision:

~ Barely anything happened in this episode at all. It was just dragged out for a long time.

~ I do have to say though, the animation was amazing.

~ The girls�� Alexandrite form came back, but it didn’t even do anything, so what was the point?

~ Everyone got separated again, just like the last episode of Maho Girls. I’m sure they’ll find and remember each other again though.

~ If Mirai and Liko don’t get together by the end, I’m gonna lose it.

~My Thoughts on You and Idol Pretty Cure♪ - Episodes 6-10~

Episode 6 - My Heart’s Going Kyun-Kyun?!:

~ We got to see Kokoro right off the bat. She seems different than any other purple Cure we’ve gotten so far, so I’m excited!

~ I’m assuming that her father’s dead, due to the picture of him on her shelf. Either that, or he’s not present at the moment.

~ I dunno what I expected for the Research Club, but I guess it’s more of a “fan club” haha. Guess we won’t have to worry about them figuring out the Precure’s identities any time soon.

~ Dang it Purirun. They’re so bad at keeping secrets and staying hidden. Someone needs to scold her for that.

~ The way they didn’t even ask about letting Kokoro audition as well. They didn’t even mention the Idol Precure’s main purpose to her until the actual threat showed up. Like, c’mon girl(?)😭

(what even is Purirun’s gender?)

~ I find it really interesting how if you’re in the area of a Cure’s attack, you’re actually in the crowd. I really like that detail.

~ I’ve always enjoyed when future Pretty Cure reject becoming one, or even fail the transformation at first. It adds a bit of realism to the character. I fully expected Kokoro to jump in head first, ready to help. But she was scared. I really like that, and I can’t wait to see what she does, moving forward.

Episode 7 - Dancing Heart! Cure Kyun-Kyun’s Debut!:

~ I’m so freaking excited about this episode. Kokoro/Kyun-Kyun’s definitely my favorite character so far!

~ So her father did pass away. It’s clear that he was important to Kokoro, despite her being young when he died. Maybe he encouraged her hobby of dancing.

~ The crying scene really pulled on my heart strings. Seeing such a strong character finally break down can really strengthen your bond with them. That’s what it did for me, at least. I feel like I know and understand her better now.

~ I love how Kokoro pointed out how weird it was that Uta sings out of nowhere. And I love Uta’s response even more. “I sing when I want!” She’s so real for that.

~ Like for the other two Cure’s, Kyun-Kyun’s transformation sequence was nothing special. But it was still cute.

~ Her attack on the other hand… wow. Have we seen a Pretty Cure use lasers before? I don’t think so. It was so cool!

~ And don’t even get me started on her solo. It’s definitely my favorite so far! Her voice isn’t the best in my opinion, but the song itself manages to cover for that. It’s so unique compared to the other two. I love it!

~ I already had the feeling that I’d be a fan of Cure Kyun-Kyun, and this episode only proved it. I can’t wait to see more of her!

To say that Baritone was devastated was an understatement. He felt as though his heart was ripped out and trampled on. The number one thing he took pride in— his beauty— was gone. And it was all for a stupid upgrade.

His fair skin was now a strange texture, and an unnatural grayish blue. His arms were longer, as well as his fingers and nails. Lastly, his feet were unrecognizable. Instead of ten, small toes, he had six large ones. They resembled the feet of a bird.

Baritone was absolutely disgusted and terrified of his new look. But there was one thing that scared him more.

What would you think?

Once he came to the realization that he had to tell— and show— you what happened, he wanted to just disappear. In his new form, he felt unworthy to be in the presence of his partner. His looks gave him confidence. So now that they’re gone, he had none.

“What am I gonna do? I can’t let them see me like this! I’m hideous!” Baritone cried.

“Well, you’re gonna have to one way or another.” Bassdrum shrugged.

“You’re not helping.” He snapped. “Listen, without my looks, I’m nothing!” He sighed, hiding his face in his hands.

“But isn’t it a whole thing that ‘looks don’t matter’?”

“Maybe. But my looks matter!” Baritone huffed.

A few moments of silence went by. Bassdrum thought hard on how to make the situation better. He himself was now ugly, so he could at least relate to his friend there. But he wasn’t in a relationship, so he didn’t know what advice to give other than the basic stuff.

“I dunno, just talk to them.”

A loud, exasperated groan erupted from Baritone’s throat— stating that he was clearly not happy with what was just said. But he figured that with no other option, he had to at least try.

Pulling out the phone you’d given him, he dialed the number he’d memorized— yours.

You paced around your house, stressed out of your mind. How could you not be? Your boyfriend just gave you the most concerning, yet vague call ever.

He basically just said that he needed to talk to you, because he was “different”. You were honestly bugged that he didn’t give you more information— just letting you wallow in your anxiety instead. But you figured that maybe it was too confusing to explain over the phone.

The second you heard a knock at your door, you bolted to it. After fumbling with the lock for a few moments, you finally opened it.

Instead of being met with Baritone’s face, you saw a purple hood instead, being held over his head by odd looking hands.

“Baritone?” You questioned, wondering if you had the wrong guy.

“Yeah, it’s me.” He grumbled from behind the fabric.

“What are you doing with that over your head? Also, did you get taller?” You asked. You were correct. He was, in fact, taller. “And are your hands… blue?”

Baritone pushed past you, dashing inside. “I- okay?” You stuttered out in surprise, before closing the door.

“Baritone, what is going on?” You asked, getting frustrated now.

His back was facing you. You still couldn’t see much— his body still being covered my his cloak. “You can freak out. But try not to be too loud, okay?”

“Oh my gosh, Baritone. Just tell what’s going on. You’re creeping me out.”

“I’ll show you first.” And with that, the cloak came off, and he turned around— revealing his new look.

You gasped, stepping back a bit from the shock. “What the heck happened?”

He began tearing up— something you’ve rarely seen. “It’s from a new ‘upgrade’. I know, I’m hideous!” He covered his face with his hands. You couldn’t tell if it was to hide his looks, or his tears. Probably both.

“No, that’s not what I meant.” You quickly tried to comfort him, placing a hand on his shoulder. “I just wanted to know why you looked different. I don’t think you’re ’hideous’.”

Baritone scoffed. “Yeah, sure. There’s no way you still think I’m beautiful anymore. I’m nothing like myself now.”

“That’s not true. Look.” You ran a hand through his long locks. “You still have your hair.”

Baritone jerked away. “Don’t touch it!”

“Haha! You’re still the same alright!” You laughed. It was then that you caught a glimpse of his feet. “Woah.”

“I know. They’re so gross.”

“No, they’re cool! They’re like bird feet. Wait, are you a bird? Can you fly?”

“….No.” Baritone gave you the most judgmental look from your questions.

“That’s still the same too. See, you’re still the Baritone I know.” You pulled him in for a hug— though you had to stand a big taller due to his new height.

With a relieved sigh, he hugged back— being careful with his new, long nails.

“And before you ask, yes, I still love you.” You clarified.

Baritone huffed. “I wasn’t gonna ask. I already know.” But you saw through him. You both knew he was thinking about asking.

“Whoa!” The MMJ group exclaimed as they entered the convention center.

The place was huge. Many booths— decorated to match their respective idol groups— lined the walls. At the very back was a giant stage, which already had a crew working on setting everything up.

“Pretty cool, huh?” Saitou, MORE MORE JUMP!’s manager chuckled. “I just knew you couldn’t pass up this opportunity.”

The idols had received an offer to appear at an idol event a few months prior. With their goal of becoming more popular, they immediately accepted. But they didn’t realize just how big this event would be.

“Wow, so many well known idol groups are here.” Airi observed.

“I know. Isn’t it wonderful to be able to attend the same event as them?” Shizuku added.

“Oh yeah, that reminds me.” Haruka drew her attention away from the place, and to her friends. “I know it’s great to be in the same room as these other groups, but we still need to stay professional.”

“Right!” They agreed enthusiastically.

“Okay, we need to start setting up your booth. The boxes of merchandise should already be there.” Saitou said as she looked at her phone— supposedly where she was getting the information from. “The booth is over…. there.”

As MORE MORE JUMP! got their booth ready, another idol group on the other side of the convention center was doing the same. Your idol group.

“(name), we’re almost set!” One of the members informed.

“Great, thanks!” You gave them a smile, before going back to setting out the keychains.

As you did, you heard excited murmuring from behind you. Assuming it was your teammates slacking off, you went to redirect them.

“Guys, please focus. Just because we’re almost done, doesn’t mean we get to goof off.”

“Sorry!” They all said, a bit started from being told off by their leader.

“Just try not to let it happen again.” You sighed. “What’re you so excited about anyway?”

“Haven’t you heard? MORE MORE JUMP!’s gonna be here too!” One of the members said, bouncing a little bit from pent up emotions.

“Who?” You gave a clueless look, before resuming setting up the booth.

“Wait, you’ve never heard of them? How? They’re trending like crazy right now!” Another member said in disbelief.

“No, I haven’t been following idol news lately.” As you said that, you completed your task, now able to put your full attention on your team. “There, done. Now, who’re the members?”

“That’s the cool thing. Most of them are formerly retired idols! They have Shizuku Hinomori, Airi Momoi and Haruka Kiritani!” Some of them squealed— fangirling over the mentioned people.

“Oh wow, they have Kiritani? I didn’t expect to see her back in the idol business.” You smiled.

“Yeah, me neither. It’s apparently because of the newbie of the group. What’s her name? Oh yeah, it’s Mino-“

Suddenly, a loud voice spoke up from the stage. “Attention idols! You have about ten minutes before the event starts! So make sure you’re all ready!”

After the announcement, everyone started rushing to finish up their tasks. With your attention changed, you inevitably forgot about the last member of MMJ.

“Alright guys, get ready! Make sure your outfits and makeup are set!”

Everyone started exclaiming excitedly, while checking each other for any wardrobe mistakes.

“Okay, I know you’re excited, but remember, we need to stay professional. Not only in front of fans, but other idols too. So I don’t wanna see any of that in front of others.”

The other members agreed, not wanting to potentially ruin their image. So while they wanted nothing more than to geek out about their favorite idols, they vowed to keep their cool.

A few minutes later, the event finally began.

(Time Skip)

Minori and the rest of MMJ were easily one of the most popular groups there! The lines for their merchandise and meet and greet were so long, they started to invade the lines for other idol groups. Everything sold out much quicker than they anticipated as well.

Now, it was their break time, so they got time to recharge.

“It was so crowded! I didn’t expect so many people to come see us!” Minori said happily.

“Yeah, especially since there are so many other popular idol groups here. Guess that’s good news though. It means we’re one step closer to becoming top idols!” Airi added.

“Yeah, it’s definitely something to be proud of.” Haruka said. “Now, we should probably head back out there.”

Everyone nodded, and got up from their seats. They made their way out of the back, and into the main room.

Coincidently, you were just passing by the door they came out of.

“Minori?!”

The girl herself turned to the direction she was called from. Expecting it to be a fan, she put on her idol smile, but it immediately dropped in shock the moment she saw your face.

“(name)?!” She could only stand there as you bolted towards her.

“Minori! It’s really you!” You cheered, enveloping her in a tight hug.

“(name)! I can’t believe it! I missed you so much!” She hugged back, bouncing slightly from the excitement.

“Minori, you know them?” Airi asked her.

“Yeah! We were friends back in middle school! I haven’t seen her since she moved away!” She explained.

It was then that you realized who else was with Minori. “Wait, Momoi? And Kiritani? And Hinomori? You’re that ‘MORE MORE JUMP!’ group. Wait, so that means…” You stepped back, getting a full view of all the girls. “Minori, you’re a member?!”

Having finally gotten over the initial shock, she spoke up. “Yeah! I did it (name)! I’m an idol!” She clasped your hands in hers.

“That’s great! I’m so happy for you!”

“You’re (full name), right?” Haruka asked you. “The leader of (idol group name)?”

“Yup! That’s me!” You replied, and gave her a cute, sparkly smile.

“I was wondering what you’re doing here! You’re an idol too?!” Minori exclaimed.

“Yeah! Isn’t it great? We’re both idols!” You hugged her again.

“Yeah!” She hugged back tightly. You both relished in the feeling of having your childhood friend back.

“So, this might be a weird thing to ask…” You said after pulling away. “but can I get your autograph?” You quickly pulled out a pen and paper from your pocket.

“R-really?! You want mine?!” Minori stuttered bashfully.

“Of course I do! I can’t pass up the opportunity to get my friend’s signature!”

“Okay! Can I have yours too?” She asked— grabbing the pen, and popping the cap off.

“Of course!”

At that point, your own group had found you, and overheard the conversation. Their leader— who had been strict about staying professional— was excitedly hugging and exchanging autographs with another idol.

They met up with MMJ, and waited with them for their members to finish up their mini meet and greet.

“Isn’t that ironic…” One of your teammates chuckled. “Little Mx. ‘Stay Professional’ themself— all over Hanasato.”

“I say let them have their fun. I mean, this is their reunion after all.” Airi giggled.

“I still can’t believe (name) didn’t know about MMJ beforehand. But hey, I guess it gave them a surprise.” Another member added.

Everyone nodded in agreement, watching you and Minori’s adorable interaction. One that was the last thing either of you expected to happen. But you both knew this event was a great opportunity. So you were grateful that it let you reunite with your childhood friend.

You stood before your bookshelf, countless thoughts racing through your mind. To anyone else, it was just a bookshelf. But you knew where it could take you, so long as you knew the code. The code you were about to enter to travel to the Magical Library.

Your hands shook as you clutched the envelope. Though, it wasn’t out of fear, but excitement. That envelope stored a very important letter. Specifically, a resignation letter for the Pretty Cure.

For so long, you’ve dealt with your younger teammates. They’re overly happy, loud, annoying, and set on giving the world a good ending. But you were always more into stories with bad endings. So while you were a Pretty Cure like them, it felt wrong to fight for something that wasn’t your taste.

Though, that wasn’t the only thing that drew you away from them. A man on the opposite side of the battlefield intrigued you. Joker, a jester from the Bad End Kingdom instantly struck a cord with you. He made you laugh, and his attitude was something you loved.

He seemed to know you didn’t belong with the Pretty Cure from the start. Any time you’d talk face to face, he treated you differently than with the others. Instead of taunting you, he questioned you. Well, more like he made you question yourself.

He’d always ask if you were sure you fit in with your friends. He also asked if you even saw them as friends at all. These, along with countless other questions, made you think about your position. It also didn’t help that he’d constantly flirt with you, making you fall for him. That drew you even further from your team, and closer to Joker’s side.

Eventually, you got fed up with being with the wrong group. So, you wrote a long, detailed letter, explaining your resignation. You knew if you told them in person, they’d try everything to stop you. Not wanting to deal with that was the reason for writing your thoughts on paper instead.

With your decision made, it was time to take action.

With the letter delivered, there was only one thing left to do. And that was to join the others in Bad End Kingdom. You figured that they always found you one way or another, so all you had to do was wait. So that you did.

It was a chilly night. You regretted wearing such a thin jacket— the proof being your uncontrollable shivering. Hugging your arms tightly, you wished that they’d hurry up already.

Just then, the bulb of every street lamp surrounding you went out with loud shatters. A familiar chuckle sounded from above you, sending a shiver of excitement— and a bit of nervousness— down your spine.

“Well, what do we have here?” The devious voice of Joker asked himself out loud.

“What does it look like?” You quickly snapped back— the sass thick in your voice.

“Aw, no need to be so hostile (cure name).” He levitated down until his pointed shoes touched the ground.

“I don’t go by that name anymore. I left the Pretty Cure.” You said, not realizing how much you’ve wanted to say that.

Joker’s smirk widened. “Oh, really? And how do I know you’re not bluffing?”

“You already know I’m not.”

He hummed— taking a few steps closer to you. “Does this mean what I think it does?”

You nodded— heart skipping a beat as you did.

Suddenly, your Smile Pact floated out of its holder, and into the slender hand of the jester in front of you.

“Then, I suppose you won’t be needing this.”

“Actually,” You replied. “I was thinking you could do something to it. Seems a waste to just get rid of it.”

He chuckled, reaching his free hand out to hold your face— his thumb pressing against your chin. “I like the way you think. You’re going to fit in just fine.”

“(name)!” Panicked voices called out, followed by the increasing volume of footsteps.

Just as you thought, it was your former teammates. Miyuki gripped the letter in your hands. You didn’t expect them to find and read it that quickly.

“What’s going on?” Nao spoke up, her voice showing so many emotions that you couldn’t comprehend exactly how she was feeling. “What’s he doing here?” She pointed to Joker.

Instead of moving away from you, he pulled you closer. Your face pressed against his chest, and his arm wrapped around you in a hug of sorts. “This darling has decided to join me and the others of Bad End Kingdom. Aren’t they a sweetheart? I just know they’ll do splendidly in working to revive Pierrot.”

“I just can’t believe it…” Yayoi said, eyes filled with tears. “I know what the letter said, but there’s no way it’s true!”

“I don’t care about what the letter said! I wanna hear from (name) directly!” Akane shouted angrily.

“Yes. Please (name), just talk to us. I’m sure we can sort things out.” Reika added calmly.

Slowly, you slipped out of Joker’s grasp— though grabbing hold of his hand as you did. “Everything I wrote in the letter is true. There’s nothing else to say, and there’s nothing you can do to change my mind. I’m leaving.” You made sure to show you and Joker’s intertwined hands— making sure they knew just how certain you were.

“No…” Miyuki breathed out— pure sadness and terror on her face.

“What’s wrong, Miyuki?” You smirked. “Not feeling ‘ultra-happy’ anymore?”

Your words made her eyes widen, and her jaw drop.

“Well, it seems they’ve made things crystal clear. Now that there’s no more confusion, we’ll be going now.” Joker said.

“Wait!” The girls made a desperate dash towards you, but they were too late. A flurry of cards enveloped the two of you— leaving nothing in your place when it cleared.

When you opened your eyes, you were in a dark palace of sorts. You immediately assumed it was Bad End Kingdom.

“Welcome home, my dear.” Joker said— his grip on your hand tightening from pure joy. He then raised your hand to his lips, and placed a gentle kiss on it.

The lack of light in the place instantly made you feel relaxed. It was like you’ve already been living there for ages. It felt so different from the Pretty Cure’s base.

You didn’t feel a single bit of regret about what you just did. You finally felt like you belonged. And you couldn’t wait to bring the world a bad ending. With Joker, of course.
