"cricket!" alma calls out towards the first familiar face she could see in the crowd, gripping onto her shiny cowgirl hat as she pushes through the crowd. "please say you'll dance with me, everyone i've asked has pretended they're too cool to line dance."

"GOOD. i've got a huuuge list of place i wanna go, and i'm not traveling alone." trust alma to turn a joke into a hypothetical plan for future. "nothing, this town is so boring. waiting for the day someone does burnouts on aurora bay road to piss of the rich fucks and starts suburban beef."
@clarexflannery
"I swear, if I do, it's because I've hit the jackpot and I'm taking you with me on the journey," she chuckled. There wasn't much at this point that could deter Clare. She felt more assured of herself than she ever had before. "So tell me...what did I miss?"

🚗 CAR — does your oc have a driver's license? can they drive/operate any automobiles/machinery besides cars?
"the government says i'm decent enough at driving a car, my mother says otherwise. she say's i'm better at driving her up the wall. it's a joke, kinda."

full moon: what type of person do you hope to be?
"something greater than whoever i am now. i have to get away from this town at some point, stupid rumours kinda ruined my ability to have real peace in this place."

"what deal do i need to make with whatever saint my parents think is at the pearly gates to let me come back and be a ghost robin hood." no cuffs or cell bars can't hold a ghost, it seems almost fool proof!
@claytcnjeong
"Now that would be a sight to see, even I would be more than amused to see it happen." CJ couldn't help but to laugh at the image in his head. "I guess you do have a point."

"its a favourite visual of mine to imagine twenty octogenarians in 2028 throwing it back in the nursing home." she'd seen way too many videos on tiktok of groups of friends dressing up as old people to head to the club, and to be honest, it looked fun as hell. "the only requisite is to be good looking, so why not try. "
@claytcnjeong
"You're right about that, it makes me curious how our generation will be like as old people. I feel like still sarcastic." Clayton chuckled at the thought alone. He knew that it would be weird to see a bunch of old people with tattoos or piercings. "You know, maybe I should've been an influencer, I enjoy free things."

"well, not all, but the ones i invited because they weren't working." alma looks up towards the blonde, catching the short white stick between his fingers. "you light that thing, it'll set the fire alarm off. that thing is so sensitive burnt toast from across the road set it off once." alma wasn't going to give the stranger hell for his smoking habits, but she'd rather not have to explain to her boss the next day why there was a fine from the fire department for setting off the alarm. a smirk hangs off her lips, pressing her palms against the counter. "by 'good shit' do you mean booze, or do you plan do lines off someones swim suit?"
@rhyswilson
"all of 'em?" rhys scoffs, slipping his hand into his pocket to pull out the lone cigarette he had put in there before he left the house. "sounds like you have some shit friends." he murmurs as he holds the stick between his index finger and thumb as his eyes raise up to look at her, a small smirk curving his features. "nice to meet you too, stay-away-from the-register-when-i'm-counting-alma," he teases, turning his head to look over to the door. "think they got good shit there or do we need to make a store run?"

alma almost flew into the embrace of clare, hugging her friend so tightly as they'd been separated longer than just a few months time . "you're never allowed to leave town this long again, ever." regardless, alma was happy that wherever life took clare out of their hamlet of a town seemed to do some good for her. "at least without me."

"As much as I enjoyed Snapchatting you on the daily, I definitely missed you," she chuckled as she embraced Alma. They had been a source of support for Clare before she left town. It felt like a never-ending cycle of chaos around her, and in the midst of it, Alma had been incredibly helpful to each other. "Did you start a new skincare routine? Your skin is glowing."

starter: closed @buddywellls where: fired up
alma sits alone at the booth in fired up. it's pretty busy today, and a wonder she even found a place to sit with her margherita without having to invade someone elses space. waiting for no one, rather enjoying the time spent alone before the evening shift at the store. it's then she catches a familiar face stepping through the door, as the chime it triggers echoes throughout the room.
alma never went out of her way to talk to buddy when she saw him around town. it wasn't as if she despised him, held a grudge or anything of the sort, she just never had anything to say. they weren't friends in high school, rather acquaintances by association. she accepted his initial apology, albeit it came almost a decade too late in a way, but it was enough and she wouldn't ask for more.

"it could be worse, they could of been fundy-LDS." clearly, they were too fundamental for alma's parents, "i made them watch that 'keep sweet' thing on netflix, and suddenly they weren't as pushy about me finding a husband anymore." a bout of laughter escapes alma's lips. there was so much in the woman's life she couldn't tell her parents, from the boys to the alcohol, an entire list of small things that was still somehow offensive to jesus. "i didn't hate my parents, but i was never going to be honest with them." what they didn't know couldn't hurt them, what good would come from being truthful anyway?
@aeris-flores
Aeris listens to Alma with a semblance of disbelief. It’s odd to hear about a living example outside of television stereotypes, and even more so that the sound of Alma’s family makes it seem they far surpass the habits of his grandparents. “Sounds strict enough to turn me into a space case. But I don’t know anything outside of ‘no rules’.” Well, technically the rules were implied, but without steady supervision, the sky was the limit in terms of what trouble he could get into.
“Strict parents, even if they aren’t the most strict, make sneaky, rebellious kids.”

"it's not like they can arrest a ghost or whatever." old people had lived their life long enough to not really give a fuck about things they did in the past. alma wonders whether her generation would be able to get away with doing that, secrets were very hard to keep nowerdays. "need to get one of them affiliate links or some shit. amazon is going hard on influencer free press."
@claytcnjeong
"I wouldn't put past them on them fucking around for their own entertainment." He chuckled, he admit that old people were a walking no filter people who said whatever was on their mind, and for that, it was probably one of his own entertainment to hear them talking about whatever nonsense. Clayton hummed under his breath and nodded, "I mean isn't it easy to get famous on TikTok these days, who knows maybe you'll post one video and next thing you know you have thousands of likes." @almakhalif

alma tilts herself of an angle to catch the tuff of blonde hair moving through the gaps of swimwear that divided them. "yeah, over there." she motions her hand towards the other side of the store, however not paying too much care to see if the strange actually caught the direction. "we got an order today in the back, so like, unless you're super desperate to get something now we got some better stuff than what's on the rack."
@tabithaxking
The hanger Tabitha moved across scraped across the metal rack as she quickly eyed each piece on display. So far, it was hard to distinguish what was made for children and what was for scantily clad influencers on the beach. The amount of fabric seemed to be the same. "Do you have a kid's section?" She asked the sales attendant who approached her. It seemed easier to ask now that the woman was nearby. "My daughter is starting swimming lessons and her old bathers don't fit anymore." Growth spurts were a pain in the ass.

"you say that like i don't break my back to keep this place pristine." she feigns a dramatic tone to match an equally dramatic statement. "or i could not tell him and stake my place as the superior employee of the surf shop!" with great proclamation alma strides back to the cash register, locking away the counted cash. like routine, her eye's glance over towards the broom across the room from her. "there's a bonfire on the beach, but those things go all night. and i don't want to go too early, i got to maintain some street cred out here in the mean avenues of AB."
@jaredx
Jared narrowed his eyes, taking the opportunity to take a break from his stock count to observe his employee's description of the store. Between her and Asher, he didn't need to hire any more people for good publicity when he had dedicated staff willing to fight to maintain the image that Jared had attempted to build.
When she revealed herself in his line of eye, he chuckled before turning back around to face the shelves, picking up the clipboard he'd discarded. "It's good to know that you're not shitting on the place, Al." He said, with a teasing smile. "But I'm going to hold you to that comment about making this place spotless — and while you're at it you can teach Asher the meaning of the word." It was mostly in jest.
"You actually got plans tonight, or you moaning for the hell of it? Because if you need to get off, you can do. I can shut the store."

"that's not the mental image i was expecting to have during a conversation about toxic masculinity. but good for you." pink was more alma's sisters colour, it often washed her out. "isn't that some psychological thing? that colours taste different? like, our brain makes us think that skittles actually taste different..." her voice fades out before the deep thoughts start to hurt, before plucking out a finger and thumb full of cotton candy. "and why is it called cotton candy. shouldn't it be like.... hot air whipped sugar or something?" "the way i'd risk hyperthermia for a good wave right now" she throws her head back with an exaggerated groan, "may's like... weeks away." alma never said she was good with patience. in fact, it was a virtue she was never graced.
@maverick-liu
“There’s not an ounce of toxic masculinity in my body. My underwear is pink.” It isn’t, not the pair he has on currently, but it’s to back his point while he insists, “Pink tastes different.” Displayed in exaggeration with the first piece he eats, a pleased hum is kept muffled behind his mouthful of cotton candy. “Water’s ice cold, though,” Maverick warns. He looks out to where the waves are crashing against the beach, and it looks warm, but knows it isn’t. Pacific water, even in the dead middle of summer, is never as warm as the Atlantic.
He keeps his spiel about global warming and ocean currents to himself. “But we can scope out some surf spots for when you come back in May, or something.”

"yep, you're totally welcome to come. all my friend ditched — lame — and i don't want to be hanging around on my own looking like a loner." the reality was people didn't care that much about appearances of coming to parties alone than alma thought they did. "alma. nice to meet you, not-a-thief-rhys."
@rhyswilson
"Beach bonfire, huh?" Rhys nods his head. "Nothing more fun than a beach bonfire. Count me in." He smirks as he walks over to the counter, but pauses when she tells him to stay away when she's counting the money. "I think I can mind my business somewhere else in the shop while you count money." He shoves his hands into the pockets of his jeans. "Rhys... What's yours?"
