Welcome Sarah!
All Caps Design welcomes Sarah Trower as a partner! We couldn't ask for a better injection of fresh energy into the All Caps Design Nova Scotia office. Emily and Sarah collaborated as the Communications and Campaigns Team of Dalhousie Student Union from 2015-17 so we know we're a match made in heaven. Sarah graduated from NSCC Graphic Design in 2023, and both Emily and Sarah are NSCAD BFA grads (and former SUNSCAD presidents). Get ready for inspiring new illustration and typography (and many cribbage matches, of course).

Logo design for the Human Rights and Race Relations Committee of the Canadian Employment and Immigration Union. This logo weaves together four strands representing four equity groups: Indigenous members, racialized and Black members, 2SLGBTQIA+ members and members with disabilities. The four strands converge in a knot showing the strength of intersectional identities and unity among groups. The logo is also reminiscent of an inuksuk, a hashtag, a quilt code, and basket weaving, which all add layers of cross-cultural meaning.

What a delight to design the cover for two brilliant feminist publications from Fernwood Publishing! I designed and illustrated the cover for Atlantic Book Awards winner Insurgent Love: Abolition and Domestic Homicide by Ardath Whynach (October 2021). For Abortion to Abolition: Reproductive Health and Justice in Canada by Martha Paynter, illustrated by Julia Hutt (May, 2022) I designed the cover using on of Julia's illustrations. Both books offer timely reflections and calls to action to abolish carceral systems and build robust structures of care.

Social Justice Trading Cards are back: honouring ten more activists and trailblazers! I used a limited colour palette, inspired by screen printing, for my own spin on the series started by Zach Gough for Mayworks Kjipuktuk Halifax. Each pack even comes with a stick of gum!

Update of the All Caps design logo for the recently renamed Solidarity Kjipuktuk / Halifax. Looking forward to designing with words in the Mi’kmaw language as settler organizations and individuals shift towards recognizing Indigenous land and language.

Private Deals, Proven Failures! ALL CAPS provides logo and icon design for the Nova Scotia Health Coalition’s latest campaign. The province wide campaign includes television ads such as this spot. The campaign highlights private funding deals’ proven record of failure when used to finance and build public infrastructure. This is the first time ALL CAPS has provived assets that have been animated and aired on terrestrial television and across the internet. We’re proud to support the NSHC and help spread the message about the failure of the P3 model.

BRANDING: The Bridging Bus
The Bridging Bus is a new Halifax initiative. As it says in their mission statement, “Inspired by the #BlackLivesMatter community outreach approach and governance model, and in partnership with various social equity groups in Washington DC, we aim to empower local participants to take their ideas for community development from concept to execution. Through a series of workshops held in Halifax, NS, as well as modules and immersive learning from an international perspective in Washington, DC, our hope is to mobilize a group of individuals to enact social change on the local level through a series of diverse community projects.”
ALL CAPS Design worked with The Bridging Bus crew to create their logo and social media iterations. Inspired by the iconic #BlackLivesMatter logo, our treatment features a bridge icon in inviting blues and greens, reflecting the outreach based nature of The Bridging Bus’ organizing and their actual work of sharing activist lessons across North America. Check out their new site by Bight and all the great work they’re doing.
