pasta - @jegulus-microfic - word count: 283
"Are you serious?" the man sitting across from James asked, an incredulous expression on his face.
And James didn't blame him, to be honest. He wasn't trying to hide it. It was just...he was having trouble not staring.
He'd originally arrive at the restaurant that night to have dinner with John, a dreadfully boring man from work that he'd finally agreed to dating after multiple requests, mostly because John was nice.
"Get yourself a nice man," Euphemia kept telling James every time he went 'round for dinner, and James contemplated that a bit too much.
Because he didn't want nice. He wanted..
Well, he wanted the man a few tables down. The man with dark, chin-length curls and piercing eyes. The man who kept throwing him withering looks and rolling his eyes. The man whose gaze was making James's body heat up and tense. The man whose beauty was undeniable.
Get yourself a nice man.
Well, maybe that was James's problem.
"Yeah, I think I am," James murmured, and focused on John, was was chewing on his pasta nervously. "I'm so sorry, John, but this isn't going to work out. Here-" And, passing him a fifty-pound note, he stood, heading toward the bathroom, jerking his head slightly, eyeing the man he'd been enamored by all evening.
When he entered the small, single-person restroom, he almost panicked. Of course the man wouldn't follow. What had he done? John was perfectly nice, and decently good-looking and-
Click.
The door opened, and the dark-haired man entered, light eyes full of hunger. "So you really buggered that up, huh?" he asked haughtily, smirking a bit.
"Depends," James grinned. "Are you single?"
And suddenly, their lips crashed together.

If they couldn't say I love you with words, they used the twirls and dips of their bodies on the floor. While saying I love you was hard for Barty and Regulus, dancing was not.

random deep dive bc why not; Dorcas Meadowes: Dorcas Meadowes was known, not for the best reasons, not at all no, but she was known, from the minute she was put in Slytherin a target was on her back, always. A black woman, not a pure blood, in slitheryn was always trouble. Always. Starting out strong, she went to sit next to the first known Pureblood she saw, Regulus Black, who happily was seated next to his cousin Bellatrix Black, who was graduating next year. Through the years she made quite a lot of friends and quite a lot of enemies, on the quidditch field and off of it. Being a Black woman wasn’t easy, thank god she had others like her, other friends like her. Pandora & Mary. Pandora was a raven claw, but was always with the slytherins, nobody really noticed. Mary was a fierce gryfindor, friends with Lily James and Sirius, her other friends hated them, she never understood why. In second year, she looked up to Bellatrix, the most powerful wizard she knew, she didn’t look up to her because she loved Voldemort or anything like that, she looked up to her because Bellatrix used her power to get what she wanted, and she didn’t listen to men who told her it’s wrong, she had paved her own path (within the boundaries of the pure-bloods) and Dorcas wanted the same.
After she realised how Bellatrix’s view were horrible, she looked up to Alice Fortescue because she was a pure blood who also made her way, on the right side. She was powerful, though not as powerful as Bellatrix, but Dorcas admired her nonetheless. Alice was her second crush, Bellatrix her first, from when she was young Dorcas knew she liked women, but she never told anyone. Anyone.
Dorcas was always thinking about the world, the right and wrong, the more Regulus talked about Voldemort, the more she tried to debate the topic. Whenever Barty brought up the fact that Voldemort was going to win, Dorcas doubled down on him, listing reasons why he was wrong. In slytherin everybody was all about blood purity, racism, fascism and the like. And Dorcas still stuck out, fighting for the good side. She had to choose between her friends who loved her, and the cause she was fighting for. She picked the cause, ditching Evan Barty and Regulus in 5th year, opting instead to hang out with the gryfinddors when they accepted her.
It took the gryfinddors ages but she didn’t care, she had her third crush, Marlene McKinnon, in teh Gryffindor Quidditch team, her enemy on the pitch, her friend off it. She spent hours thinking of her, until she wasn’t her friend, she was her girlfriend. They told nobody, secretive as Dorcas was. Nobody knew much about her, even Marlene. Dorcas was always overthinking about what would happen if she told about her life, about her struggles and her fears. She thought that if it was said out loud it would come true. During the nights she would cry and write everything down, never spoke it, never even whispered it. Then she would burn the paper, throw it in the bin, go back to sleep. Wake up, finish the day, repeat.
War was looming among them (among US DUN DUN DUB DUN DUN DUN DUN DUN DA DUNDUN) she joined the order, not because of Dumbledore no, she hated Dumbledore but she needed to fight with her friends, with her girlfriend. It was only fair to them. She went up in the ranks day by day, becoming stronger and stronger, wanting to be like Bellatrix. Wanting to be able to beat Bellatrix, she was the strongest person on the other side. She had hurt so many people and Dorcas wanted to avenge those people.
Marlene was dead, she had been killed, and Dorcas was furious. Her sense for revenge had only increased, she went after every Death Eater she saw, once she almost killed Barty, he narrowly dodged the attack. Afterwards Dorcas cried so hard, her old friend, on the complete opposite, the dark mark bright and proud on his arm. Dorcas never wanted this, she missed them but it was for the best. She continued killing the Death Eaters off, managing to kill 21.
She felt so powerful, so so powerful. She knew what she was doing was right, she was making them win. Her reign of power and amazingness did not last long however. She saw Death Eaters everywhere, around her house and everywhere she tried to go. She had to stay in the Order HQ so stay safe. She didn’t care. She tried to go straight for Voldemort, after months and mon to s, she had found him. She went up to him, narrowly dodging a killing curse, but not another one. Dying at Voldemorts hands, and she was barely remembered. Everyone who knew her thought of her as insiration. To the Order she was amazing, but was soon enough forgotten. The woman almost too strong for Voldemort. The only Black half-blood Slytherin of her time. Dorcas MOTHERFUCKING Meadowes.

Okay, once again, I have started a one shot and I need someone to tell me it is worth finishing

Wolfstar Fic Hogwarts Era
It takes James five minutes to realize none of them are eating. Sirius is angrily tearing pieces of toast and smearing jam on each piece individually before tossing the bread back onto his plate. The bites he does take linger in his mouth too long like he’s too lost in his fury to remember to swallow. James’ face can’t help but wrinkle in disgust when he takes a glance at his friend and sees the peak of the brown sludge his breakfast has become. James briefly worries Sirius is one unwanted bite away from spitting his food at Peter sitting next to him.
Part of James has sympathy for his friend who is cowering away from the eldest Black. The other half feels the same resentment Sirius is so obviously exuding. Peter had once again flaked on their plans to spend the full moon with Remus in their animagus forms. After years of work and studying, they each had finally gotten the magic down perfectly. Peter was the most recent Maurader to successfully turn into his animagi form and remain in it for longer than a couple minutes, but he had yet to accompany them on a full moon. In October, he used the excuse of being unsure he could maintain his form long enough. Last month, he had coincidentally gotten detention with McGonagall for a prank gone wrong and who knows how long that could take.
“You lads go on without me,” he assured. “And I’ll catch up as soon as Professor releases me.”
Sirius had narrowed his eyes at Peter but did eventually leave without scolding the younger. But the moon rose and fell without any sign of the rat named Wormtail. James met up with Peter at breakfast, angrily questioning what happened. Peter explained that by the time his detention was over, the moon was already up so he decided it may do more harm than good for him to show up.
James scoffed, “We made promises, you made a promise to your friend to be there.”
Peter actually looked taken aback by James’ disappointment. “I kn-“
“No.” James interrupted. “You know how Remus feels about his condition, you know how ashamed he is. You don’t think he can tell his own friend is afraid of him?”
Peter looked down and actually looked ashamed. “It’s just you and Sirius are so much bigger than me, you can protect yourselves.”
“If you were actually present, you’d see you don’t have to worry about protecting yourself,” James responded.
They were both silent for moment before James spoke again. “I can’t save you from Sirius.”
Peter’s head snapped to attention. “Is he angry?”
“What do you think?” James snapped.
This would turn out to be untrue. James was Sirius had harbored some anger towards Peter due to his absence but the full moon had gone so smoothly, Remus had been back with them by lunch time. He was paler and pallid with dark circles under his eyes but he was there and he was grinning. James could tell Sirius had forgotten anyone else besides the sandy haired bookworm existed, therefore forgetting about Peter’s betrayal.
That had been a month ago. They were in December now and the full moon had not been as kind on Remus this time around. Moony had been shockingly aggressive, nipping at Padfoot’s ankles and chasing Prongs so long James feared he wouldn’t stop. Not to mention the damage he had inflicting upon himself. There were too many scratches for James to catalogue and too much blood for him to even begin staunch the bleeding. Sirius had been frantic, quite literally beside himself. So much so that it had jarred James into action. He had quickly cast a couple healing charms to hold over until they could get Remus to Madam Pompfry. Typically, the boys waited for the healer witch to retrieve Remus herself in order to keep their animagus escapades a secret, but this go around there had not been time. Sirius and James carried a still bleeding, unconscious Remus all the way to hospital ward. Madam Pompfry had startled a bit before directed them where to lay their friend down and begin the healing process. Sirius had argued quite feverently, James had even saw his teary eyes, but they had ultimately been ushered out once the headmaster had arrived. James had to pull Sirius away from the outside of the door to ensure they wouldn’t be late for breakfast or their first round of classes. Sirius had begun cussing Peter before they had even made it back to their dorm room to change and had resorted to a hateful silence by the time they met up with their missing friend in the Dining Hall.
Peter had started to greet them as normal but quieted once he noticed Sirius’ foul mood. He did continue to look longingly at the jar of jam Sirius was purposefully hogging from him.
James couldn’t help but roll his eyes as he cleared his throat. “Everyone have their Charms work to turn into Flitwick?”
Peter brightened at the engagement, considering it an olive branch.
“Finished it this morning, mate,” he said. “Even had extra time to review, found some mistakes I had rushed over last night.”
“Rushed?” Sirius asked, finally looking up at Peter. James briefly gulped, knowing there was no way Sirius cared about the quality of Peter’s Charms essay. His eyes were hard and piercing, his lips pulled up in a snarl. “Why were you rushing?”
“We-,” Peter started, confused.
“It’s not like you didn’t have bounds of free time last night,” Sirius remarked sarcastically.

incantation - @wolfstarmicrofic - 241
"So," James whispered, standing next to Sirius as they both waved their wands just how Flitwick had shown them, "when are you gonna tell Moony?"
"Tell Moony what?" Sirius responded, trying not to look too suspicious as he practiced the incantation in his head.
"That you're gone for him," James answered casually, smirking as he began to mumble Expecto Patronum, only to achieve white smoke.
"Wh-what?" Sirius stuttered, turning to James, who looked smug.
"You were staring at him the whole lecture. You doodle moons in your notes. Your Amortentia smells like chocolate, for fuck's sake," James chided, furrowing his eyebrows as he only conjured smoke again. "It's bloody obvious to everyone except Moony himself, Pads."
"You're barking," Sirius denied, rolling his eyes. But it was Remus who he was picturing as he focused himself on the spell. Remus, whose eyes were the perfect shade of brown. Remus, whose smile always made Sirius feel so safe, and a bit floaty. "Expecto Patronum," he murmured, his heart leaping when a corporeal animal jumped from the tip of his wand.
But James let out of a shout of laughter when they saw what it was: a giant, silvery wolf, short snout and tufted tail making him distinct in every way. "Yeah, Pads? Wanna tell me again what you said a second ago?"
And, blushing crimson, Sirius stared at Patronus-Moony, unable to deny his feelings, knowing that his own spell had sold him out.

A quote my English teacher (she’s so much more than that) wrote to me, a senior, that reminds me of smth McGonagall would write to Sirius:
“Sometimes, you look at a student and wonder what kinda of adult they’ll turn into. With you, I always knew. You are going to be the coolest person. You already are. You are like an undiscovered celebrity.”
(Actually sobbing I love her sm)
